unfortunately, this epidode will not end well for Renaldo, It is going to overshadow all the good he has done as a ward councillor. Even though I dont condone the language used, I do understand the sentiment and frustration he may have felt in that moment, I'm not in a place to place judgement upon him. We are all fallible human beings, we say and do things which we may regret and which may come back to bite us in the posterior in the future, we were all impulsive and acted like real ignoramuses when younger but with age comes wisdom (well I hope so...). As a fellow human all I can do is acknowledge Renaldo's appology, forgive him and hope and pray that he learns from this very expensive and very decisive lesson which may impact his life in very distinct way. Hope he comes out the otherside the better for it. Will continue to follow his antics whether he continues or not.

Any speech written or spoken MUST be viewed in the full context in what was being "said".... Cutting only snippets of the "speech" to smear someone without proper context is disingenuous and lazy reporting and should be viewed as such. The "kill the boer" speech remains hate speech as most South Africans know the context within what it is said and sung, given the brutal farm murders that are reported on nearly every week and sometimes daily.

I have more of an issue with how the media have reported on it all. In both the IOL and N24 article, nowhere do they mention that he was saying it as an example of proving his point of hypocrisy around "Kill the Boer". All they report on is his direct quote, taking away all context. If they told the full story, and still tuned him for it, and said it was still inappropriate, fair enough. But they have deliberately hidden all context behind the clip. They know exactly what they are doing. If a court cannot understand the meaning of the words "kill" , "shoot" or "Boer" and then exonerate Malema from a hate speech charge, then surely some sort of push-back is called for?
