I like Ter Stegen, I love him. He's a legend. I regularly watched Barca since 08-09, and Ter Stegen has been the best of all the keepers we've had since then. I expected him to get better and better as time passed by since GKs tend to get better as they age. Don't get me wrong, he's not the number 1 problem, but he is a big problem. Every shot on target basically has a high chance of going in against Ter Stegen. As a club with high expectations, "not that bad" should not be our standard for our number 1. As Thierry Henry once said, "If someone starts ahead of me, I'd get mad at myself. It's that fear that drove me to be better". No one competed against Ter Stegen ever since Bravo. I think the board was the reason why he got complacent.
Then stop asking Barca to play attacking strategy.. Even a World Class shotstopper GK like De Gea and Oblak would absolutely useless if you fans demands attacking attacking attacking plays.. You guys defending is negative football, You guys never have a solid CB Subtitute players and yet you demands greatness LMFAO.. And lets not forget 2 seasons ago Ter Stegen single handedly gave you La Liga titles due to conceding less goals than the xGA numbers.. Ter Stegen is not THE problem of Barcelona. He embodies the club's acceptance of defeats and humiliations. He has always been present during the Champions League losses (Roma, Liverpool, Atlético, PSG, Bayern, ...). There's a sense of passivity from him, and people no longer want to read his long messages on social media. He also represents the lack of risk taken by the management. Yesterday marked the 4-year anniversary of the 2-8 loss against Bayern. He is still here, now having become the club captain, and there is zero intention to replace him or bring in competition.

I have NEVER been close to thinking Ter Stegen was bad or is the problem in the club. On the contrary he, alongside Messi, have literally pretty much been the only 2 players on the field for YEARS. It's crazy to me and a huge surprise that people dislike and/or blame Ter Stegen.
What do you mean "he is not that bad" Ter Stegen is fantastic GK with terrible defence infront of him for the most of his carrier. A GK can't keep clean sheet byhimself. He is one of the best goalkeepers in Barcelonas history and we all saw what happened when he was injured and Inaki Pena had to replace him (thats when basicly Barcelona lost any chance for the league). Now with Flick in charge whos style of play is even more risky in defence with a high line Barcelona will concede more goals but Xavi isn't here to blame him so it's Frankie and Ter Stegens turn to take the blame. Barcelona spended 55mln on Dani Olmo and can't even register him after Laporta talked all summer how its not a problem to sign any player in the world with the current financial situation. Thats most likely why Nico didnt come because Laporta coulndt guarantee him that he will be registered for the first game. The team is a mess, transfer plans since Alemany left are non existing they are just winging it and winging it badly. So if people need someone to blame its Deco and Laporta
MATS is not and was never the problem. He's been a good goalkeeper and a very consistent part of our backline. I think we should've kept Arnau Tenas to compete with him and push him to his best instead of letting him leave on a FREE.
IMO, the hate for Ter Stegen is because he looked like one of the best goalkeepers in the world in his first few years at Barca. So we expected him to step up in the big CL games like Roma, Liverpool and Bayern. Had he been average from the start we'd be less focused on him.

I don't care about stats and none of that because my issue with him is not being a bad keeper, HE IS NOT!! .but when i watch big teams go in a big game or a knockout game i can feel the presence of their keeper and most of the time the keeper stands out , sometimes even their BACKUP KEEPER and i haven't witnessed a game in these circumstances that ter stegen stepped out for 90 minutes . without also addressing the weird attempts for saves like that sane shot vs bayern and the bellingham shot in el clasico (TWO BIG DECISIVE GAMES BTW)
I know that he is not the top problem for barca right now but getting a good young keeper in the bench is an investment and also a competition for MATS

Agreed With You, Ter Stegen is a Good Goalkeeper for us, and though we eventually have to replace him due to his age and in upcoming seasons his reflexes would get even slower, I Don't Think he's the First Priority Problem for us.. There's 5 Other Problems that needs to be solved before Ter Stegen. Firstly, we need a Dm, one cannot rely on a 16 year old to carry that position for the entire season, not because of his ability but a teenager is more likely to commit a mistake under pressure in an important game than someone with experience. Then, we literally have no left winger, A Spot that is really essential for Barca, we have no one out there. Then, Next Season we need to move Past Lewa, we cannot continue with him as our main striker going next season, Yes, We Have Pau Victor, but will he be our solution is something we still have to see Then the Araujo Contract Problem, if he decides to leave, we will most likely have to spend to get a Good Center Back as well And Finally, Frenkie De Jong, if he doesn't extend and gets sold or leaves for free, we would need another Deep Lying Playmaker to replace him. All these needs to be addressed before we think about Ter Stegen

Stats with goalkeepers are misleading. Both Raya and Ederson had amazing stats at their previous clubs, they went to Arsenal/City and statistically fell off a cliff BUT they revolutionized their clubs. Stats aren't important, it's about whether the player makes you better. Is ter Stegen a liability and holding you back or is he just playing in a bad team? Alisson was terrible last year for Liverpool, constantly marking errors but no one talked about it because it wasn't holding Liverpool back.
