Let's Talk about the Dani Olmo Signing... 

To those criticizing the Dani Olmo signing talking about how many players we have in that position. I want to give url an assignment. Go have a look at the Barca squad during the 2011-2012 season. Particularly look at the average age of that squad! Or have a look at the teams we want to compete with in europe (Real Madrid, Man City or even Bayern) have a look at the average age of their typical starting 11. In order for a team to realisticly compete at the highest level with 50+ games to play in a season, you need a combination of Talent + Athleticism + Experience(Very Important). You don't get that combination in a marathon season playing with 16 to 23year olds. We were all there last season when the team played well but consistently fell apart! To compete you need great players in the 25 to 30+ age group who not only have the talent and Athleticism but also have EXPERIENCE! Fermin, Pedri, Gavi, Yamal, Pablo Torre, Cubarsi, Pau Victor and all the other kids we have are incredible but they will not deliver titles at the highest level, at least not at this age they are at. Barca needs to create a squad of players like Dani Olmo if and only if we want to compete and win La Liga, Champions league, Copa Del ray and the Super Cup!!

This is how i look at it... As much as we need a DM but we need a versatile player just as bad. If you look at last season we needed a versatile player and it's gonna take pressure off pedri and gavi's recovery. It's takes off a little bit of pressure in the wingers position where we had alot of problems

I really didn’t get the obsession with Dani Olmo; I rate him very highly as a player but for 60+ million in our current predicament and for the positions we should be prioritizing is not the brightest of ideas, especially when we could’ve tried to get Xavi Simons(who’s younger and arguably has a higher ceiling) on a cost-free loan and save to get him the next summer, or combine both the Nico and Olmo funds (if Nico decides to stay at Athletic Club) to get a more refined left winger like a Kvaratskhelia, or a deeper lying midfielder for much less like Merino. As long as it’s happened, I have no choice but to hope it works out so I hope it does.

Here’s the plan… Our defence can say the same but we will see rotation in the fullback role. The two DM’s most likely will be Casado and bernal with occasional rotation with FDJ and gundo. I reckon we will see some iniesta business like how he played LW at times; Pedri,olmo,Rapha and gavi will rotate from CAM,LW, and a deeper midfield role. I truly believe the Nico deal is still on we will know by the next 2 weeks. I remember when FDJ did an p.conference and raged at them for fake rumours so pls tell me how reporters have secret info in the promise Nico has?! Has Nico said anything once about the rumours? If he plays like he did at the euros it would be a great signing

The upset over Nico could have been understandable if he signed for another club... But it's his boyhood club.... It's same like Olmo who was so eager to come to his boyhood club & that was appreciated by Barca fan base well, Bilbao is same for Nico...

I think one of the midfielders will be playing in a pivot role and then Olmo and one other midfielder will be playing in the Left wing and attacking midfielder role, constantly interchanging and overloading midfield so that Balde from the Left side can push through up front. Since these players are very press efficient we'd be really building in central to suddenly pass in the side channels for full backs and wingers or go Central in the late arriving midfielders. This is going to be so much fun.

Think of this way - Pedri is not reliable at all! He will play 50% of the matches at best. We need a natural replacement for him. Olmo is also very versatile.

I think the only point of difference most barca fans have is why get olmo when we have fermin? Cause pendri needs a few seasons to get his form back (hopefully) and gundo is in his last season maybe - so the dilemma is fermin or olmo - who should be trusted for the no. 10. Now as much as i like fermin, he has always been about scoring goals which i love but an AM is way more than that and fermin needs to develop more on that - the problem is that by bringing olmo, a good no. 10 are we hindering fermin's development ? Yes we might be but i am also fed up with this 'developing' phase a bit - we need trophies now. And if olmo's performance brings us a few major trophies over the next couple seasons i say the 60m was worth it. Winning should be our priority now, and it all depends on how olmo steps up.

Both Fermin and Olmo can play on the left wing and attacking midfielder, so especially given injuries they should both get playing time, not to mention that this means Lamine can get backup on the right wing from either raphina or Olmo

the only reason of this deal is rotation, everyone will get their rotation. even if they only able to play 1 games per week, that would be better. if lewa and gundo doesnt complained if they are not playin

Olmo is a good player at number 10 switching between him and pedri and fermin i ytgink gondo or pedri will be dropped in the middle more until gavi returns good enough and i think i wanna see casadu and de Jong under flick i think they would be good deo in the double pivot because that’s the best position to de jong

Olmo is a well experienced & reliable AMF (especially at the tip of the midfield diamond or triangle), while Fermin will be a sub. Gundo, Pedri, Gavi etc aren’t as effective as Olmo & Fermin in that position The price tag may be too high but unfortunately that’s how the cookie crumbles these days.

I think since we are not hearing about departures like look how Romeu left it just come up and there was no news about when he is leaving and where is he going and I think this is good for a silent transfer market and the lebro deal is done 40mil in the bank and like u said half of it is going to ffp and Nico deal is still alive I think flick has more balls to tell a player that he doesn't need them and there are going be good departures like langlit flick did say he likes him but he salary is concerning 18 mil per year

Barcelona needs a player that can read and uses he's skills & quality to change the game, Dani Olmo is that kinda a player. He's like a surprise striker, don't forget, Dani can strike anytime, or assist from anywhere. Barcelona shouldn't just go for Williams. There's this player I like from Napoli. Guys my honest opinion is this even if it doesn't matter... Pedri is always injured every season in as much as we love him.. Dejong gets injured often too! So we only have gavi and gundo and fermin as prooven ballers nevermind the youngsters I know they good but still they un proven thats where Dani olmo comes in.. for me I think olmo is better when it comes to the attacking third i just think we don't watch olmo enough

Dani Olmo just brings uncertainty in different aspects even tho he’s good

The fact that Flick, Deco, and Laporta paid this much for a player with almost the same playstyle as Fermin, who is much younger, gets paid less, and isn't as injury prone is a testament to how bad we've been at differentiating the club's needs and wants

While I'll definitely support him while he's here i truthfully don't like this signing I don't like this for 3 reasons 1 he's injury prone on average he misses 22 games a season depending on how deep we go in competition that's 1/3 to 1/2 of the season he's basically guaranteed to miss. when you combine that with our already injury prone lineup it's a recipe for disaster. 2 he's expensive, I don't know if you've noticed this but over the last 10 years but more specifically 5 years the mass majority of players we've purchased over 30 million have either flopped or greatly disappointed and in fact all of our best players over that time frame have either but outright free via la masia or free transfers or have cost below 10 million. And last but not least 3 cam is the position where we arguably have too many players. We have at least 3-5 players who can play there not named olmo while on the other hand we don't have a left winger and we don't have a backup left back. This is a signing that is questionable at best and moronic at worst. It honestly makes me think deco is incompetent
