Well spoken and very educational video. Been buying trees forever just put one up this year and wanted a refresher on caring for a live tree and this is the best video on the subject

Why do you recommend it being in an unheated garage? Is warmth not good for them? Should I put it where I can get direct sunlight? Thanks in advance. Great video!

Cooler temperatures act like a refrigerator and will keep the tree fresher until you're ready to bring it inside. Outdoors in the yard is ok also, but not if you're expecting temperatures below 25 degrees. Extreme cold like that can burn the foliage.

Warmer temperatures dry the tree out faster.

I found a discarded colorado blue spruce xmas tree in January and placed it in a 5 gallon bucket of water. It’s april, and the tree is still alive. 😮. Can the tree grow roots at this point? And can the tree continue to live in the water bucket? I noticed that the baby pine cones are also growing. I live in Los Angeles, CA.

Unfortunately a tree of that size would be unable to produce roots. It may live and grow for a bit in the water, but it will eventually run out of nutrients that roots typically provide and it will perish.
