For this episode, we wanted to get up close and personal with one of most coveted and wanted LPS in the industry. Scolys (Scolymia australis) are from Australia and one of most colorful and interactive corals in the world.
What keeps them happy? How do you keep them in long term? Do you know where they come from and what environment they come from?

I actually got my heater set for 79° but it keeps the display at 76° or 25°C and my scolys love it I also keep them on the sand bed in a SPS dominated 90gl.

Always wanted one. A bit pricey so I went for the bowerbanki , bright orange with neon green streaks for half the price . The benefit it grows extra heads

What other corals also thrive in lower temperatures from Australia?? Would acans also do well? Trying to do a scoly/Aussie coral tank and want to make sure everyone’s happy

Well i just learned my tank should be about 1.5-2 degrees lower to keep them happier!

yessir. For long term health, cooler waters are better for these corals.

Reach Gaming you may get lucky and it survive but long term it generally is not a good idea. I keep mine between 74.5-75.0 depending on how warm the house is.

Question- do they always have to be laid flat or can the be at an angle or on the side of some live rock??

Donavon Green great question. Actually, I had one slanted in a angle for many years with great success. So yes, you can slant it.

Liftedlifestyle usually one large head but sometimes there are multiple heads as well.

my tank currently runs at 78 with euphyllia, montis,polyps, brains, and a new scoly... Will these other corals be ok at a temp of 76 that my scoly would prefer?

Every coral will be ok in that temperature except very long term in scolys . If you can bring it down to 76, do it.

CUBAN REEFER not in small doses. It actually promote soft tissue regeneration and growth.

would 77-78 temp be okay? I can definitely lower it a degree if necessary

After speaking with Chris, 76 would be far better for the long term success of this corals then 78. These corals are found in much colder water and it will adapt better in similar temperature.
