For this episode, we traveled to Plant City, Florida to visit our friend Chris Meckley of ACI Aquaculture to talk about my personal favorite type of corals: Meat Corals.
We talked about various different corals such as Acanthophyllia, Cynarina and Indophyllia, their care, what you should do and what you shouldn't do to make these gorgeous coals thrive in your reef. Enjoy!

Man I swear if I close my eyes you sound like Jason Mewes giving me info on corals you guys even have the same hair. Anyway loved the video I always look at these and want them due to their colors but I am too new to this and I have already some nice creatures, I feel like running but I gotta crawl before I walk yet! I am still trying to figure out my tank still going through new tank syndrome trying to dial it in before I move on to these. I feed my corals so I would love to watch these guys eat I find it so cool to watch.

Great video as always. I bought my first scoly bit confused on placement and flow... few videos such as tidal garden say low to med flow..here says high flow? Some say on sand bed others no sand bed ...

Much respect to Than at Tidal Gardens. He makes amazing videos. Chris imports and deals with 1000s of these corals on regular basis and is in contact with many divers that tells them where they find these corals in the wild. He tells us from his findings so that we can try to mimic it's natural habitat to ensure and enjoy it's long term success.

Those are always going to be recommendations for what to try first. If you put it in a "high flow" spot in your tank and it looks retracted and generally pissed off, you just need to move it to another location, let it adjust, and see if it looks better.

Would putting them in the shade in a high lighted tank be okay?

Have you ever found any issues keeping any of that family of corals with the flesh touching?
