Saturdays start with a coffee and DIY Danie ♥️ I love how you show that tools aren't scary and a woman can use them, and with style love love your channel
I agree. My Saturday mornings start with Danie, Alexandra ( TeamAG ) and Laugh Cry DIY. I’m in Vegas, so I was distracted 🤣 But I’m catching up now before I hit the strip. 😁
I think that one of the things I enjoy so much is your willingness to overcome any difficulty. I am so impressed with your abilities and of course your snarky sense of humor. Keep up the superior work you Wonder Woman you!
I absolutely love that you kept your mural on the wall behind. You are inspiring and such a good wood worker. I love your visions and seeing them come to life.
I love the color. I am a big advocate for trying to reduce the amount of clothes I have so I understand the challenge of deciding what if anything to discard. That being said I love the cabinet. Your journey is a true learning experience and I say, well done!
I love the paint color! I despise all neutral colored spaces.. I'm so glad you kept the painted mural in the back. I was wondering how you were gonna get those doors to open fully.. but you live and learn.. now you can build a cabinet if you need to..
Tip: Add a face frame as a "spacer". You need af least 1/2 to 1" spacer on each side to account for the wonkiness of the wall. Than you will be all set and doors will properly open. ❤ ...upcoming video: fixing my doors 😅 (Love that you kept the mural)
I live in England and I too have a many jacket problem. I have a spring/autumn jacket, winter coat and summer light weight jacket. I also have hats and gloves for the winter. Boots for winter and summer shoes plus trainers for cooler days in spring, summer and autumn. It’s a freaking complicated seasonal weather situation in England. Anyone else in England feel the pain!
I have new respect for you .... reduced to a 32 minutes on line when it was actually a week at least for you. some youtubers just chat in front of a camera and call it a video, you work work hard, sometimes very hard. good on you
This is a perfect example of several things: (1) sometimes you have to live in a space to truly understand how it does, or does not, work for you (2) sometimes you have to build your skill set to take on a large project, and (3) sometimes you have to just move forward and learn as you go. Mistakes will be made and things will be learned. And a beautiful and useful space will occur.
@@nancyanneberg403 It can go either way depending upon the situation and space and the person. I agree that you can often find a better solution if you take your time and look at your options.
✨💖✨exactly true. And sometimes your needs change. You use a space for certain things, and then kids grow up and move away. You don’t need the storage for so many little coats and boots. Things change. Needs change. Maybe you don’t really need so many coats and boots. And more importantly, you skills grow. As you noted. Useful spaces will evolve and grow as you use a space.
Hi Danny! I am a woodworker and have done lots of architectural furniture! And yes, when working in old houses that are absolutly not leveled we build the cabinet a bit smaller, up to one inch on each side, then fill the gap with wood pieces and hide it with trims.
Danie, my parents have a 100+ year old house, and the best gift to my dad was one of those tools that form to wonky corners so you can use than as a guide!
Okay, first of all - your editor needs a raise! What a fun video! Second- this is beautiful, and very functional. I love the color. Great job persevering through the challenges. Well done! Cheers!
Danie, you are always so willing to make things right. You never take short cuts and you finish everything to perfection no matter how much extra time and effort it takes. KUDOS to you.. Love the cabinet... the color is to die for...
Not gonna lie, when I saw the completed doors I thought, did Danie fit those in first (like if I’m some expert 🤦🏻♀️) (although from watching you for so long, in my head I am), but as expected, you made it happen. Looks fantastic…and that colour! Fab job!
Wow. Love that you left the "wallpaper"-- hidden beauty like that always brings a smile. great function. I would need labels on the baskets. (out of sight out of mind)
Hey I can't tell if your title is off or if I'm just confused, but shouldn't it be "I built a custom built-in closet in a useless corner" or "I made a useless corner into a custom built-in closet"? Great work as always, but I had to re-read that a few times :D
You are amazing and even when you show your mistakes it doubles down that you are amazing. A lot of creators are just like tada all done. You show us your ups and downs. Your positive attitude is chef kiss! I live in new construction and it is janky too. So I can only imagine what it will be like in 100 years. I love the painting peaky out in the back of the closet.
This is a wonderful outcome but I feel your pain! I’m so impressed that you continued on and got the doors installed. Truth be told, I would have decided that I love the open look of the storage, I could still see my beautiful mural, the whole thing is painted such a great color and it looks wonderful with my mural and it’s a back door so no one else will see it and it’ll be easier to access everything without those *#@+#$ doors! But still you persisted and you overcame. You should be very proud of what you accomplished. It is all beautiful and looks completely custom.🌸
100% also would have given up on the doors. Although my rationale would have been, "I'll live with it for a while. I can always add the doors later." And the doors would then live in the basement forever.
It looks great! I rather envy you having a corner like that to turn into a closet. I live in an apartment with a pantry but no other built-in closet whatsoever, and no place to put one. So I have a small storage loft built in the entryway above my front door for luggage, Christmas ornaments and the like.
@@DIYDanie my building is from 1899, when people had a lot fewer possessions, I guess. Here in Germany they only really started building in closets in new buildings in the 1990s or so.
It's beautiful, Danie! I love that you kept the wallpaper/mural and the color of the doors is just fabulous! So pretty! Thanks for showing us the struggles and the frustrations before the ultimate triumph! It makes us feel like maybe we can do things too❤🔨🔧🧰💪🏾
I just started watching this and already my mind is screaming"NO, NO, not that beautiful wall" but as you preach i am trusting the DIY Danie process......back to the video!!
Hey Danie, love the closet. what I would have done is put a lip on the shelves to hide the back brace and it would have looked like floating shelves... if that makes sense. Love your work! e
Congrats on a beautiful project!! Looks so beautiful! I couldn’t have done this without losing my mind. The one thing I would have done though is tried the doors before painting them to save on having to sand, prime and paint each time. But again absolutely gorgeous. I’m so inspired! You are so talented!
It looks really good. Love the wallpaper behind it. When my husband and I tackle home projects, they always take us twice as long as they should. However, as long as it works, and we get a positive result, I’m happy. Your hard work paid off. Plus it’s unique.
Love the custom built-in closet and I am crushing on the paint color!!! Yes, working with the givens of your home made the build exponentially more difficult, but, maxing out the amount of useable storage space because you did so was a big win!!! You are so talented and so much fun to virtually hang out with, Danie!!! Thank you for yet another great DIY video!!!😀
You are really amazing,Danie! I truly don't understand how you don't have yet million of subscribers 😅 Kudos for being so honest and inspiring about all the bumps along the journey, keep up the good work ❤️
You did great and you learned alot and that's a win win situation. don't be so hard on yourself woman! it looks great and now you have extra storage!!! goal accomplished.
So glad you kept the flowers on the wall! Now you have a functional closet AND a secret door to another world. So Narnia-esque! Also, embrace the wonkyness!
Good Saturday morning! I was looking for something to watch and you popped up Danie🫶 another wonderful video, thank you for always making me smile🤗 May the Lord protect and guide you🙏.. I remember when you did this makeover I loved it! Of course anything you do is marvelous darling🫶🫶, it came out awesome, and although you challenged yourself, with chalenges😞it really is beautiful…❌⭕️❌⭕️🐶Otis and me~ Massachusetts..p.s. hope you and your mom are doing well💚💚
I’m SO proud of you! As one who has struggled with making hinges and doors work on diy furniture pieces I totally get it! Frustrating is a mild word when one is having to re-do, shave off, try another style hinge, line doors up, ect. Love the color, and customization is fantastic but challenging to accommodate, very proud and impressed with your beautiful wardrobe closet!
LOVE that you kept the tree background❗️👍🥰 LOVE the color❗️👍🥰 One thing I'd change...🙌 I'd make TWO hanger rods, one high and one mid...like is done in many closet systems. That gives you TWICE the coat storage❗️😍 Any long coats can go in the front closet (there should be fewer of them). LOOKS GREAT 👍 👌 🤩
I just want to commend you specifically on your journey from freestanding builds to built-in millwork installation. It’s great seeing how much you learn from that transition. And watching you succeed at every challenge that comes along us so satisfying. So proud. Well done.
Dani...my parents bought a very very old Quaker meeting house and l remember my step-father grumbling, cussing and muttering to himself, "nothing is plumb in this house!!" to himself whenever doing a project. You wanted an old house.if l remember right....be careful what you wish for. As usual as l your work is beautiful Dani. Be proud!
Danie, I really love your diys and videos.. the way u talk.. has helped me cheerup in my depression 😍 thank u so much.. and I like your authenticity.. I can also learn from your mistakes 😂 wel done 😍 much love 😍
Erm are you my sister, I attempt everything, may not be easy but eventually it work exactly as I planned it too. I love the background when you open the cupboard, that is an really nice piece of wall art and I'm glad you didn't paint over it, I might just be copying it onto the back of my built in wardrobe which also started life as an alcove. Thank you for posting 📫
Even with all the adjustments for the doors, you have given me an idea for doors to my office and how to fix the pantry doors at my house. Thank you for working through the "grrr" moments, maybe I can avoid a few....
I love it. I wish I could do what you do dont ever think your not good enough at what you do because your brilliant, at the end of the day you got it done and it looks great. Did you get rid of some of your coats? I love when you do DIY in your own home you have a gorgeous home 🏡 and if you do the editing on your videos I love 😍 how you do it too lots of love Caz Yorkshire England xxx
I love the intro sketches you do! 😂💕 and yes, sadly you eventually realize in your life that you can never have enough closed storage haha I am so impressed with the end result and the color is stunning. I’ve been wanting to paint a room this color or something similar haha
Oh Danie I love it so much! Especially that Twinberry color ❤️ it reminds me of the purple color in the guest bedroom. That dark unique color (other than your all black apothecary) that adds a beautiful aspect to your beautiful diy in progress home ❤️🖤💜 I'm looking into sprucing up our design and we have finally agreed on boho Scandinavian with a splash of Japanese (Boho Japandi? 🤔)
You did it! 💪😊 The thrill you get every time you open your closet makes the journey soooo worth it! If you ever do your kitchen, they add a “filler” of 1”-3” between a cabinet box and a wall or an internal corner, so the door can open 90 degrees. Great job!
