Yet another outstanding lesson Corey! 🎸🎶. I love the thought of flowing like that without playing a scale type thing… landing on the third or the fifth out of the Triad that makes up the Chord…Sounds so beautiful!
i must admit.. I don't watch your channel as much as others, but, when I do, I gather SO much INFO on way things "sound"... and how to make certain things happen on the fretboard.. you sir are an excellent teacher!!
The more I watch your channel, as well as other channels, I realize your work/guitar skills and taste in music speaks to me more than any other channel I've come across. I learn so much from your expressive and dynamic technique, and you inspire me to pick up the guitar and continue to experiment with different pedals and other gear in search of my own sound. Thanks, Corey!
Eighteen minutes of pure 24 caret gold -- thank you CC! Becoming one of your subscribing students was hands-down the best guitar instruction decision I've ever made.
Man your lessons open a lot of new avenues of playing. I am a member of Working Class Guitar and recommend it to everyone who loves your RU-vid videos.
@@roadierobert7258 Yes! I'm uploading a special WCG extended version of this lesson now with a different key. I'm also uploading longer Major Pentatonic lessons as well.
I used this line and the 5th shape major pentatonic scale and put it to practice on the circle of 4ths. This is really opening up the fretboard for me.
You can make a career out of playing guitar just from playing around that scale ya just shared! Especially if ya throw in some tasty minor pentatonic licks here & there!!! I like it because of the way it moves ya up & down the neck horizontally!! As always thanx foor the share!
Perfect lesson for me. I am that person you spoke about in the beginning, just trying to get my feet wet with major pentatonic. Thank you for the great lesson. Keep em coming.
Corey, been watching since Eric showed off your skills during the pandemic, thanks for all the knowledge and lessons. I truly enjoy your style of teaching! I tried a bunch of strats, couldn't find a home. I ended up with a G&L Comanche, over their S500, and damn is it versital, from strat to Muddy buckers it's awesome. If you haven't tried one pick one up and play it. Bass and treble gain. I'm a G&L snob now and their quality is amazing, even overseas models. Tribute (Indonesia models) have american pickups. Keep up the good work.
Just starrted watching again and said to myself " That Strat souunds amazing" and realized it was the same vid where I stated " That Strat sounds amazing " a month or two ago! love your vidz Corey great teacher and you subltlely show how important ,essential actually, singing your ideas and keeping time by tapping a foot are.Love it man Never Stop ( playing that Strat).
GREAT APPROACH. ALMOST GONE AT GLANCE HEARING YOU TALKING; NEVER TALKING AFTER NEW VIDEO AT FIRST OPENING SECONDS OF THE NEW VIDEO. play JUST PLAY NEW STUFF EXPLAINED IN THE TITLE! THANKS FOR UP LODE MUCH APPRECIATE EFFORT. YOU ARE AN ANGEL WITH SO MANY ABOUT MATHEMATICS, PC, CODING LEARNING DIFFERENT SKILLS ABSOLUTE NICE TO SEE YOU ALL OUT THERE
Always useful and always great Corey. This one is a lightbulb moment for me in that we can change major pentatonics for each chord, and not use simply the major pentatonic of the major key of the tune. I kind of knew it, but I don’t think I’d ever heard it articulated before. Awesome dude.
Hey Jonathan. Glad you’re enjoying this. I’m not changing scales here btw, I’m using the A major pentatonic and targeting notes per each chord. Didn’t wanna confuse ya.
Hey, Good Morning Corey! I have a 25+ years Strat with nearly the same scheme - blue instead of green. It’s right next to me (it has a spot of its own, leaning against the couch). Anyway,.. Love my Saturday morning coffee - with Corey! Keep Up the Great Work, Brother! 👍🎸✌️😎
Great lesson! As a newcomer to blues and pentatonics scales, I love how you expand our knowledge. Great to lear a new way to to play the Major pentatonic scale. Thank you.
Great lesson, this really helped me to shift between major and minor pentatonic in the chord progression. Even motivated me to get the old looper pedal out, and overdrive! Thanks for the jam.
Corey, this is one of the best videos I ever watched. Simple and extremely effective ideas. If you have a course with this topic, I’m all in. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🎸🎸🎸
wow I do that tri appsgios scale man you hit it right never heard it taught this way I get it now I have to play it very good info to know. I'll go over this vedio for a few days or weeks or months if I have to or maybe just one take..Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico USA 🇺🇸
Hi Corey, I just love your videos. You are such a melodic player and it is what I like to hear and what I like to play. I am predominantly a Strat player so those tones always appeal. Recently I bought a late 1950's style "S" type built by Bravewood in the UK. It looks as thought it could have belonged to the late great gentleman on your tee shirt today I am working through one of your Truefire courses at the moment. Cheers Corey.
Super nice, I've been using this pattern for a while now. It works for both major and minor pentatonic with a change in the starting position. I just need to pick up my speed.
Whew! One more example of why I am so grateful that Leo Fender toiled away in his garage all those years ago. Corey, for a 'non-Strat' guy, you are quite the Strat guy. (my Strat doesn't sound anything like yours!). Then again, I do believe you could make equally sublime sounds on a single string cigar box. Thank you so much for continually opening my eyes and ears.
And of course....å strat tone to die for😅...this inspires me....to throw my guitar out the window...without opening it first..again..as Always,a great lesson Corey.//🇸🇪
Would love to see your backing tracks available again! Maybe for streaming on apple music? an album of all your backing tracks would be awesome! Great playing :)
Bravo Corey, I subscribed to your channel because you really deserve it: your lessons are a pleasure and your simple, direct, positive energy is contagious. I don't need to tell you, you are an excellent musician and full of taste. You are a great discovery these days, I'm watching all your videos! Plus, thank you so much for all the files you share, not many do. Ciao, Ste :)
Great job Corey - a great player (and teacher)! The only way your videos get any better is to include a pooch clip in their somewhere since I know you're also a dog lover : ) Have a great Memorial Day wkend!
Man hear you are saw a couple of videos you where on but you know how it's is there is so much info you get caught up on one thing and forget some of the good instructos and video lessons..Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico USA 🇺🇸

Hi Corey! Been following you since early in the TF days! I love that you said as you were explaining the notes you were playing that you aren't really thinking about that. You obviously have the talent/knowledge to feel it, but you always know you are landing where you need to be. For us lesser players----->Do you also play through melody/licks and if you feel or it sounds like you are not on the right note for the chord- you just quickly move it, right? Inevitably if it sounds 'off' it will immediately should sound 'on' after moving it one note.
thank you. I'll be watching. I've been playing 40+years. and have learned much. but this instruction pieced it all together for me. so, thank you. liked n sub'd M.

You seemed to be emphasising the major 7th of the A. Is this similar where you leave out the third in some chords two note chords in your lessons on chords?
For not being a "strat" guy,you sure make that one sound pretty darn good.....but then again, something tells me that you could make a broom stick and a single piece of rope sound good!
Where are you, homie!!!! We miss your Saturday morning inspiration! Hope that you're well, and that you haven't posted in a few weeks because you're off recording some amazing project or something.
@@coreycongilio I was worried that might be the case. I had it myself two weeks ago. Glad that you're feeling better. It's no fun. I didn't have any of the nasty chest congestion, but the fever, the body aches, the malaise, etc., just sucked.
@@coreycongilio really great to wake up and see this lesson Corey. You are a great guitarist and teacher! I learn a great deal from you! I have subscribed but would like to take a Course from you… 🤔 But wich Course I ask myself? I have a basic knowledge of music theory… I know the ‘Caged system’ very well and can get around on the Fretboard. I understand basic theory such as 1-4-5 with the relative Minor. I would say I am an intermediate player, but I do not know how to spice things up more in my blues playing… I would like to take a course that has a lot of details on understanding how to add arpeggio scales and arpeggiations along with bluesy 6 and 9 chords to add to the 7’s! Along with three note triads to better help my individual playing but also to help me to accompany other players. Any Suggestions on one other your Courses? Please send something and leave a link here… With the information I gave you you should be able to help me and I’ve seen some amazing lessons from you so definitely wanna take one of your courses!
Hey Chris, I make backing tracks and Tabs available to my subscribers at my lesson website. You can try it free for 7 days and grab whatever you’d like. After that there’s a subscription. I can send you a discounted link if you’re interested. There’s 100s of lessons, tracks and tabs. Feel free to respond and let me know. Thanks!

The A major pentatonic scale has the same notes as F# minor pentatonic except you start on A rather than F# (correct?). As you point out there is not a D note in so you can use F# and A for the D Chord and also no G# for use with the E chord. So, in the case of E could you slide from the G# to the B? Also, could you start on the A note, use the D note as a passing/ghost note and then go to the F#?
Yes, Amajor and F#minor are relative meaning they contain the same notes. Slide in and out of whatever notes you like as long as it sounds good! The point of this lesson is that you can’t lose by using this line
@@edwardgodfrey7002 It's a pentatonic scale so doesn't have the 7th degree, in this case G#. But the chords are clearly spelling out A major. If you played in D you'd have a G natural which would sound weird in this context. Part of the reason why pentatonics are so great.
