Can I just say that dodging a strike to your lungs by moving your body so that the sword strikes in the middle of your body instead is the most Jojo’s move ever
20:36 “He’s focusing on my neck! Does he know” I actually think that in context, this is a legitimate question to be asked, because it’s like “Does he know about my Hamon, or is he going for the neck because it’s generally a good strategy?”
@@thebudderblock2149 so what, what power does a RU-vid channel have to claim what a anime character would do. If the mage writer or someone working on the anime had said it the I'd think you had a point but as it stands...nah
I really like how both of these fighters utilize breathing as their power system. It seems really silly at first, but I kind of like it. Shows like avatar utilize breathing when benders use their techniques, and I find that aspect a lot more interesting than most systems that just use some sort of generic internal energy
I know I’m late but the “He is targeting my neck, does he know?” is actually a sensible question, usually a fighter doesn’t head/neck hunt as you would combine more to different parts of the body or target the arms/legs which are further from the core and safer to target
There's no reason to believe Tanjiro would assume that knowing Nezuko is his sister would change Jonathan's goals before the fight started, especially since as explained JoJo vampires know mind control, so Jonathan definitely would've have believed him either until it was a simple matter of being left behind, which proves his intentions are different. This isn't really a reach, the analysis and fight dialogue cover all of this
@@arthurwatson2555 For sure, for sure, but I could've seen something like Tanjiro saying it but Jonathan's already mid battlecry, or Tanjiro starts to say it but then is attacked and interrupted, etc. Even just having Jonathan not believe him until he insists upon it with his dying breath. I just mean there would be ways to have that included that wouldn't keep them from fighting while at least letting us say, "Well, he tried."
Just to be fair to Tanjiro, he did try to tell Jonathon from the beginning that Nezuko is his sister, but Jonathon wouldnt listen to reason til the end. At least he tried to heal him in the end despite it still being a futile effort. And its been a LONG time since watching the first ever season of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (or at least the more modern one as Joj has had animations in the past), but the ending of this fight when Nezuko comes back is suppose to be another Jojo reference. Particularly the piano in that plays briefly. EDIT: Nevermind. I misremembered. I thought Tanjiro DID try to tell him Zezuko is his sister so.... Yeah he waits til HE DIES to say it lol
Okay, so Jonathan CANNOT move at the speed of light. The Jojo that "dodged a beam of light" was his grandson Joseph 60 years later. The whole "Jonathan moving at the speed of light" thing is because of power scaling. Basically: >Hanged Man (a stand) travels between mirrors as a beam of light >Silver Chariot (a stand) slashes Hanged Man mid-travel, making it lightspeed >Silver Chariot can keep up with Star Platinum, making SP lightspeed >Star Platinum and The World are considered "The same type of stand", making The World lightspeed >Dio was shown pushing the road roller at the same rate SP was pushing it back, making DIO lightspeed >Jonathan fought Dio, making Jonathan lightspeed And that second-to-last point is where it gets ALL messed up. It's shown in other fights that Stand users can put their stands inside themselves to temporarily "boost" their own physical stats. For example, Jotaro can put Star Platinum's leg inside his own leg to jump higher than he'd be able to with his own body. That's just what DIO was doing at the time, shown by him glowing yellow with The World's power. So The World can move at lightspeed, but Dio, and by extension Jonathan, cannot. The "laser-beams" that Jonathan dodged from Dio's eyes are actually just high-pressure jets of body fluid, and have nothing to do with lightspeed. Granted, Jonathan still wins due to being stronger and Hamon being more bullshit, but they were smoking some serious shit when calcing Jojo speeds
minor adjustment. star platinum is stated to be lightspeed in the stand stats without any form of scaling. the world has virtually the same stats as it is basically the same stand. with silver chariot, the hanged man feat is more just confirmation of its speed, since it already showed speed comparable to star platinum. for more counter evidence for jonathan being lightspeed; 1. even if dio himself is lightspeed in part 3 (which he shouldnt be) that doesn't really matter for jonathan since the already powerful body of jonathan would have been enhanced via vampiric attributes that dio adds. 2. joseph's only light speed feat was aim dodging at best. 3. saying joseph should be light speed because of kars doesn't work when you remember that kars outclasses joseph in every possible physical category as a pillar man, which are stronger than vampires. 4. more consistent scaling would be lightning speed for jonathan, just because its a pretty standard reactionary speed for jojo characters much weaker physically than jonathan, and is just a pretty standard scale all around. this would still be faster than tanjiro however, since hashira level zenitsu with his fastest technique was the only character in demon slayer shown to actually lightning time, with tanjiro's speed not scaling to zenitsu's. im basically just fixing the scaling chain here, the rest of what you said is correct.
@@555squad The reason confirmation was even needed for SP's speed was because it was vague whether or not being "faster than light" meant that it was faster than light in stopped time, which makes sense, or that SP is faster than light even WITHOUT time stop, in which case, why would he (or Dio) even need time stop in the first place?
@@cedric15773 dio never expressly needed time stop for anyone other than star platinum. the only reason he used it against the stardust crusaders in the first place is cause he was being incredibly cautious with the joestars. not to mention, his ability coincidentally being time stop isnt really an anti feat
@@555squad I'm not really counting timestop as an anti-feat. I'm just saying, from a writer's perspective, why would you give a character a power that is made completely irrelevant by their natural speed? It's like giving the Flash the ability to teleport; its completely useless to them.
@@cedric15773 ah I get what you're saying now, I apologize for misunderstanding. In that case, I think its just one of those cases where araki was just trying to think of an op ability to give to dio to make things seem hopeless for the crusaders, with consideration of stands being as powerful as they already were. all things considered, its still one of the more op abilities in jojo's for a stand to naturally poses.
Going to be real, this was one of the most emotional ones that Death Battle has done like this battle started with a misunderstanding and once Tanjiro told Jonathan that Nezuko is his sister when he was about to die, Jonathan swore to him that he would protect Nezuko plus this was also one of those "I knew the loser stood no chance at all" situation like I knew Tanjiro was screwed against the First Jojo when this got announced but maybe in another life, Tanjiro and Jonathan would be bros for life. Next time with Thor and Vegeta, while this is Thor's third fight after Raiden and Wonder Woman, this is Vegeta's second fight after he fought Shadow the Hedgehog from way long ago plus I am going to get this out of the way right now, Vegeta is the fourth teased fighter after Jinx, Scarlet Witch and Tanjiro that appeared at the end of Saitama VS Popeye. So with that out of the way, see ya next week for the battle between these two Prideful Princes.
Power creep is not really a thing in JoJo. Some characters from earlier Parts can easily beat characters from later Parts. Jotaro from Part 3 for example can beat Josuke from Part 4 and Jolyne from Part 6, and the main villain of Part 2 was basically an immortal demigod while the main villain of Part 4 was a serial killer with a bomb ability.
@Ris Grestar Since you watched Hero Academia, in terms of Demon Slayer's pacing, it would be pretty similar, in the 1st episode of MHA nothing much happens either, you're presented to the main character and his struggle, that's it, in the 2nd episode nothing much happens either, and before Izuku even enters the academia, he goes through a training arc. Same happens in Demon Slayer, before Tanjiro goes having his crazy battles slaying demons, the start is slow, he first needs to go through training and pratical exams (mirrowing the clean the beach, and robot entry exam from MHA), they deal with minor threats at the beggining, and after all that, yea the show picks up and becomes amazing. It takes time since until MHA episode 10 (Shigaraki's appearance), nothing too meaningful happens, meanwhile 9 episodes were all it took for the entire JoJo part 1 (Jonathan's story).
My issue with the pacing in Demon Slayer was actually the opposite: It seemed very ham-fisted and it all happened too quickly. Like the guy going "oh yeah, Tanjiro, a boy who's lived here his whole life and stuff, remember that there are demons at night" and then Tanjiro returning home to find his family having been killed by demons. 'Twas, as they say, a real "bruh" moment for me lol
I think Jonathan was out of Collage when he started learning Hamon, and Tanjiro was I think around high school age when he started learning Water-Breathing, not sure how old he was when the manga ended.
I don’t want to risk overhyping, but Thor VS Vegeta is in contention for my favorite episode of the season, so I very much look forward to your reaction to that
Damn I know that Death Battle can be basis most of the time but holy Why do they scale Jonathan with part 3 dio that literally makes no sense tanjiro would solo part 1 Jonathan with little difficulty
