I'm a Dundee fan, and the three songs Fields of Athenry, This Land is your Land and Let the People are fantastic songs and may I concur are not sectarian songs. Was at Parkhead in january when Dundee got Celtic in the cup and was amazing to hear these songs and the Celtic fans sing them. Celtic fans are brilliant.
Rangers fan. Dad was a Celtic fan. This song was played at the beginning of his funeral and I cant stop listening to it. The part were the background music stop gives me goosebumps
Yes well you should show your gratitude and drop that scum bag you follow for The Lord because it's the Catholics saved your hide, never forget it. Christ is Lord. Repent!
I am Rangers through and through but I love this song. My great great grandmother came over from Dublin to reside in the Gallowgate and later the Calton in the 1870s, and I often think of the terrible conditions, poverty and loved ones they left behind in Ireland for a new life in Glasgow. Not that the East End of Glasgow was a bed of roses, but at least they weren't starving to death.
Such a pure song, Celebrating our traditions and culture. No mentions of being up to our knees in our fellow mans blood. That's the difference between us and THEM. class
What about throwing bananas at Mark Walters, coins at Hugh Dallas, lighters at Fernando Ricksen, bottles of buckfast thru Jorg Albertz's living room window or bricks thru Neil McCanns window? Not to mention jumping from the top deck of the Piggery lol BJK
every Rangers song mentions Celtic or Catholics or the Pope and vatican but I've never heard a Celtic song even mention the world Catholic or Protestant.
As an old friend (for more than 50 years) of Irish music I visited the country last month for the first time. On our tour we made a boat trip and a man sang this song for us...it's a great memory and I'm joyfully listening to it now at home again.
We played this song at my Dad’s funeral. He was Celtic first and LFC second even though he was Liverpool born and bred. I listen to this when I’m missing him and I know he’s not too far away from me. Hail hail Frankie Bhoy 💚
I'm the opposite. LFC first and Celtic a close 2nd. Im from NYC but I'm a footy fan first and foremost. All my Grabdparents were Irish. Grew up going over every other summer. Marched with Leitrim every St Paddy's since I was old enough to walk. And I've never felt more Irish than I did in Glasgow at the Brazen Head after an Old Firm match. YNWA brother
I take great pride in supporting celtic......... seeing Neil Lennon lift the title made me cry and i'm proud to say it did..... the man deserves it! GBNL
hearing this song at celtic park being sung in full voice is unbelievable, makes hairs stand up on the back of my neck right now as i think about it. Celtic FC - more than a club
With respect , veronacelt, as a grandfather a life long Celtic fan, and Celtic family , this song, speaks volumes, we were stood on , for decades, agree, not a Celtic song but expresses perhaps, a want that Irish in Scotland were not allowed to have..Hail Hail
Ìt was kept music that kekt their spirit free .holy christ the irish never lay down ever.i see young people and maybe they will do okay.inthe north we were the strongest ever but our generation is passing away. So is life but james connolly and 1916 will never be forgotten
Celtic Supporters Club Dunedin Florida... 🇮🇪 For those who are in love There's a song that's warm and tender. For those who are oppressed In song you can protest. So liberate your mind And give your soul expression. Open up your hearts, I'll sing for you this song. Let the people sing their stories and their songs And the music of their native land Their lullabies and battle cries and songs of hope and joy So join us hand in hand All across this ancient land Throughout the test of time It was music that kept their spirits free Those songs of yours and of mine It was back in ancient times, The bard would tell his stories Of the heroes, of the villain, Of the chieftain in the glen. Through Elizabethan times And Cromwellian war and fury Put our pipers to the sword, Killed our harpers and our bards. Let the people sing their stories and their songs And the music of their native land Their lullabies and battle cries and songs of hope and joy So join us hand in hand All across this ancient land Throughout the test of time It was music that kept their spirits free Those songs of yours and of mine Ireland, land of song, Your music lives forever In its valleys, in its mountains, In its hills and in its glens. Our music did survive Through famine and oppression. To the generations gone, I'll sing for you this song. Let the people sing their stories and their songs And the music of their native land Their lullabies and battle cries and songs of hope and joy So join us hand in hand All across this ancient land Throughout the test of time It was music that kept their spirits free Those songs of yours and of mine
This song reminds me so much of my childhood, going to the games at Parkhead, this played every game, and you knew that when this started the kick off was starting soon. Its so nostalgic. Still every game I go to I hear this.
I will always remember my best friend davie (die hard teddy bears fan) whenever he got steaming he would sing this always made me laugh what a bhoy he is
Celtic sing songs of hope and freedom, rangers sing songs of bigotry and hatred, thats why the only thing they can sing now is ‘every Saturday we follow’
This isn't a CELTIC song, I'm a Celtic fan, it is sung however predominantly by Celtic fans, I would even dare to say it isn't solely an Irish song,BUT it is a song that celebrates the culture of any land that has in time found itself oppressed and has found the strength and courage to keep their own identity and culture intact whilst those around them tried to break them down. By teaching your children and their children what it is to be Irish, Scottish, "K"eltic, Palestinian, Black or whatever you can never be defeated by those who try to oppress you as the soul and heart if strong enough will always triumph!
Ferocious Fatman PROUD OF YOU MATE HAVE A LOVELY CHRISTMAS N A HAPPY NEW YEAR WHEN WE BEAT SEVCO 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪. HERE WE GO 2 10 IN A ROW. HAIL HAIL C.O.Y.B.I.G. GLASGOWS GREEN AND WHITE XXX
I'm English with Keltic connections but this song is the best. I fucking adore this. I love the Wolfe tones too. Nobody should be under anyone else's oppression. This land is your land!
Glasgow celtic champions owhooowhooo oooooh owhooooo! Love this song and god bless the celtic family....... from an english celtic fan livin' in scotland. :D
Luath we are strong celtic nations that share a wonderful culture of song, dance, joy and rebellion. May Ireland be United once more, and may Scotland be free once more 😄
@@Conordl96 You are totally wrong your teacher so full of lies it's laughable 😅🙄The men of the past your so called 'heroes' done what they done because in there mind juss like in mine right now they believed 'Ireland belonged to the Irish'. Simple as that the'R'word wouldn't even of been in these mens brains not ever! The tried to free our people and country End of story Ireland in 2020 =Certainly not what them men fought for no way thus place is a joke compared to what they wanted.. Absolute joke and so are you chap! Embarrassment to bobby don't talk about him
@@Conordl96 That's the reality in the situation here no Irish man in their right mind fought for this place so in the future certain parts of Ireland looks like the middle East 🙄.. They fought also because they had pride for themselves and neighbours and wanted a free safe place for their kids to be Brought up! once again filling Ireland with aliens never came to these men's mind! Maybe some day you people might tell the truth for once! Globalism = cause of most problems in Ireland and some people don't even understand that! But it has annoyed lots and lots of people 👌
@@Conordl96 Speaking on having pride for community.. Thers no way I could have pride for someone who wants to and is happy to let Ireland get full with alienz! How can I even like that person in reality? That's not possible for me end of story.. That's what globalism done also trust is gone trust is no more thats a thing of the past
I am not very knowledgable about the gamr but I am really sorry about the way things went on sunday, and Neil Lennon was not treated right at all, he spoke on the radio 5 Live and he was very upset about it, he sounded really sad about his team, and I felt for him. Now is the time to lend support to him and Celtic,so come on !
I’m sorry that you had to go through oppression for so many years. My country has done awful things to many innocent people. In truth, for many years I was raised to sway towards rangers, and I did. But I really understand the Celtic fans and (the majority) of their beliefs and songs are full of passion and meaning. I’ve been to both Celtic and Rangers matches, and I thought as an englishman I’d be more accepted from the rangers fans. But again, hats off to Celtic, they accept all types of people. I hope you get your day, and I hope it comes soon. For all of the years we’ve wrongly occupied countries we shouldn’t have, get involved in business that wasn’t ours, just because we’re power hungry. God bless, happy Easter to all.
Eveyone sayin this is a Celtic song its not its like a song to dance along to its like the Pogues christmas song like that kindof song but i am pure die hard Rangers fan but i absoulutley love this song x
I have now spent a while reading an argument in the comments out loud in an stereotypical irish accent, no one understands how hilairious I have found this thank you irish accent and thank you too argument participators.
