CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Riggs (Mel Gibson) handcuffs himself to a suicide jumper and then jumps!
FILM DESCRIPTION:
L.A. cop Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), whose wife has recently died, is a loose cannon with a seeming death wish. This makes him indispensable in collaring dangerous criminals, but a liability to any potential partners. Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), a conservative family man who wants to stay alive for his upcoming 50th birthday, is partnered with Riggs. As Riggs gets to know Murtaugh and his family, he begins to mellow, though his insistence on using guerilla tactics to catch criminals is still (put mildly) above and beyond the call of duty. The main villain is The General (Mitchell Ryan), a drug dealer responsible for the death of the daughter of one of Murtaugh's oldest friends. The General is also in charge of a deadly, militia-like gang of smugglers. Adding fuel to the fire is The General's chief henchman, played with all stops out by Gary Busey. Moviegoers familiar only with the relatively tongue-in-cheek Lethal Weapon sequels may be amazed to find out how dangerous and unpredictable Riggs is in the first Lethal Weapon -- and how likely it seems that Murtaugh might not survive until fade-out time.
CREDITS:
TM & © Warner Bros. (1987)
Cast: Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Michael Shaner
Director: Richard Donner
Producers: Richard Donner, Jennie Lew Tugend, Joel Silver

@ragin Caucasian You're just way behind that's all. What I'm saying is common sense really. Drop the ego, look within yourself.. understand your emotions, that's all Mel / Wilder did.. not genius.. I appreciate it, but it's not genius. It's our nature.

@ragin Caucasian sources? You see this is your problem.. you look outside for answers rather than inside.. you trust others before yourself? And I already explained it you just didn't understand what I said, people like Mel have a lot of bottled up rage that they keep inside so when acting they can go to that place instantly & release it.. it's not rocket science you just have to have it yourself to understand.

such a cool scene for sure but its funny how they had all that time to clear the street shut down traffic and set up an airbag for the guy to jump What would the have done if the guy moved to the other side of the building to jump off the opposite side?

@@dodgeking9194 A fair point...but let's not kid ourselves. If every scene in every movie of the "Lethal Weapon" franchise was held to logical scrutiny and other cut or reworked...well, the movies wouldn't exist, or they just wouldn't be "Lethal Weapon" movies. I love loud action movies with lots of gunfire and explosions and knife-fights and car chases and people dangling from the landing skids and stuff. As someone who can't help but notice inconsistencies and contradictions and plot holes and what-not, it can take some real effort to just turn that part of my brain off and enjoy it. Sending a suicidal man who REALLY wanted to kill himself is what solved this situation. The other dude that initially wanted to jump, wasn't really into it. Mel knew that and it worked.
