This is the first time I've heard of the Philippines' way of playing MvC2. It's interesting how a meta changes just from lowering the damage to the lowest setting.

I've said this 1000 times and I'll say it again: Jin Saotome is a sick-ass character that deserves a spot on _any and all_ Capcom crossover games... Also it's a _SHAME_ that Asura hasn't appeared in a fighting game despite duking it out with Ryu and Akuma in his own game.

Fortunately, now in June 2024, this video is now considered “foreshadowing”. Turns out we ARE living in the best timeline.

MvC2 is no joke, one of my favorite games of all time and I'd kill for a proper remaster on current platforms. It's nice to see more community awareness surrounding probably my favorite Capcom fighting game and Capcom fighting game series

MAHVEL'S BACK, BABY

I play Guile, Charlie, and Captain America and I ran my neighborhood arcades like a boss! I always knew I was playing what people considered low tier/ mid tier characters, but I just lived on the machine and played EVERYBODY! Getting around heavy range styles would always make me have to rethink my play. I still love it!

Love that this came up now that mvc fighting collecting has been announced. Seeing them have this conversation gets me ready for their triple KO episode that follws up on this, now years later

Hell even the jazzy music while fighting makes it great

I remember as a kid I figured out hayato had a secret special where he turned into B. Hayato like a raging demon type of move; I practiced for weeks to do it, then landing it in a match against my cousin. It was so satisfying.

The day that they finally announce a Marvel vs. Capcom collection, Capcom vs. SNK & SNK vs. Capcom collection, and maybe even a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom remaster on modern consoles (PS5, XSX, Steam).... That will be a day to remember.

This game is truly something special. It's the game that I would actively seek out whenever I was in an arcade and if I found it I basically only played it the whole time I was there. My greatest memory with the game was playing one time at Disney Quest I ended running a long set against another guy (I think it ended up turning into a FT10) and we ended up attracting a small crowd. But also playing MvC 2 on XBLA with my friends was some of the best times I have had with fighting games.

And now its back!!

MvC2 on modern systems and crossplay would be 🔥

_MVC2_ was one of the few fighting games I just didn't "get" - especially with those HUGE jumps _("Where am I?! Where's my opponent?!")_ …but _damn_ was it fun as all Hell. I need to see if I can get my 360 to work again…

Crazy how MVC2 art style is more appealing than 3 or infinite, despite it being 20 years old.

Something else that contributes to MvC2's enduring popularity is the varied cast of characters. We've got X-Men, Avengers, Street Fighters, Spidermen, Darkstalkers, and even classic Capcom Characters. Something for everyone.

I remember seeing X-men vs Street Fighter for the first time in my small town and it was one of the most amazing things ever. My dad never took us to the mall but whenever we went, I was so excited to go see it become MvC and then MvC2. Good times

I worked at a GameStop in 2003, probably the darkest time for fighting games. The demand for the PS2 port of MvC2 was so real but they didnt print any of them. Nobody was buying the new fighting games but people were always asking for MvC2 and we'd only get one or two shipped to us

Hey Max, I wrote a piece on the Philippine MvC2 meta (level 1 damage) on the Marvel vs Capcom 2 facebook page back in 2014. I was also the one doing commentary for the match that Jwong was commenting. The arcade hardware also has a function to change timer *Speed*, so we were set for the longest time to Damage 1, longest timer so that the players would get more play time on their tokens. I believe the console versions don't have a setting to change timer speed so it was very hard to recreate the arcade experience in console. Its only until 2 years ago that people were starting to explore playing it in US/Evo/Default settings.

I still have my copy of MvC2 for Dreamcast . its one of my most prized possessions. I just don't have a dreamcast anymore lol. Here's to hoping it gets a re-release someday 🤘❤

12:05 This reminds me of a cool MvC2 tournament concept. There was a tournament Justin entered where you had so many points and characters cost points to be on your team. The higher the tier the more points they cost, making for some interesting team compositions!

Never forget I was 16 years old in 2000 and my local arcade in the mall had MvC2 and there was always a line to play it took forever! Thankfully later that year I got it on Dreamcast. My favorite fighting game ever!

I'd like to see jazz covers of each character themes added.

Happy that the Philippines is on Justin's map! Fighting games were the shizz here back when arcades were a thing. We still have a solid (albeit niche) community here, and I would sell my soul for a resurgence after the pandemic. 😁
