Well this was My first MVC. When I played the other versions, I was like "Why can't Ryu turn red?" and stuff like that. The MVC1 PS1 ver. is one of the many reasons as to way I'm a fighting game fan nowadays!

@@darrellgardner4561 Same here, except I started with MSHvsSF and... boy, did I have oodles of fun with it. The easy input mode got me hooked so hard! I basically mashed my way to Mech-Gouki each time, and I loved every frame of it! Also, there was the famed "Cross Over" mode, which essentially *was* the tag version of the game, but only as a mirror match (due to PS1's memory limitations)... but man, I don't think I'll ever be as happy about a fighting game as I was back then.

Same here. This game was my first ever exposure to the whole MvC series AND my first ever fighting game. I had lots of fun playing this game to hell and back on my PS1 to the point the CD snapped in half one day. Literally took me until 3 years ago to learn that MvC1 had tag team. I was mind-blown. At least you can play as Onslaught in the PS1 version unlike the other versions.
@Sbeas19
@Sbeas19 2 года назад
Same here too. Arcades weren't much of a thing here. Yeah there were a few arcade machines here and there across many places but never a dedicated place with tons and tons of cabinets, the closest were the Malls with their place near the cinemas and there were some random cabinets but you would never see something like any fighting games (and if they were, they werent there for longer cuz reasons). Back to the other tangent, so I was mostly a person who knew certain versions of fighting games on their console ports of the most popular consoles at the time in my country like the snes or ps1 during the 90s.

Yep. I played this on PS1 back in the day and it was a completely different experience. I never really put too much thought to it being a testing ground for MvC2, but it does seem to fit. I was thinking about MSH vs SF when Max mentioned it and that got me thinking about how X-Men vs SF on PS1 is. I am now curious if they did this with the PS1 version or if they played it somewhat straight. People are too worried about games being arcade perfect to enjoy alternate versions of things. On a somewhat related note, I'm looking forward to seeing Max try out Street Fighter Zero 3 Mix.

Good defense system with the Counter/Push/Patner Counter. P.S:Whoever mains Roll here can you please give some tips cause holy heck is she a glass Canon. I never had access to a Dreamcast then though. I only had a PS1. This version was the one I had. I knew it was completely different and I encouraged people to play the PS1 port. It was like you said though, no one took me seriously and just dismissed the PS1 version. Well I kept playing the PS1 version because I knew the truth. Finally years later, one of my good friends was like “fine let’s play the PS1 port so I can stop hearing how much you like this version”. Within the first round he was like “OMG you were right all these years”. I said “I told you bro!”. He even said that it feels like MvC2! I said yup it’s basically the ground work for it. We still go back to it now and again to this day! Great work bro! Spread the word of MVC1’s PS1 brilliance! :)

also, when ever you activated the "cross counter" (?) when both team mates come out and attack, both your characters have unlimited supers instead of only the main character (as a default setting with no adjustments). so you'd just surround the opponent and spam double supers from both sides etc. combine that with unlimited meter. its was just insanity. fun times.

*My first mvc actually. Technically, X men vs streetfighter. But yeah, my first MVC. Not in arcades, but ps1.*

a thing with the PS1 version of MvC as well, is Mega Man actually has a special version of himself you can play as, exclusively in the PS1 version, known as Magnetic Megaman

I remember playing this and that MSHvSF game on PS1 and yeah they were completely different games to the point I got confused when I played the arcade versions because I was too used to the console versions 😂

It was my first mvc and even missing the core mvc features has a special place in my heart. ALSO, if i remember correctly it has a "cross over mode" where you can play in tag mode just like arcade version! However, both players have to pick the same teams due to ps1 constraints. Just imagine the sheer insanity of this version without the teams limitations, i really hope someday capcom or some modder do a mvc ex "definitive edition" or something.

the coolest thing about this game to me was that Mega Man actually gets Magneto's super after you kill Onslaught with him, i don't know if it was something that made him very much better but it's still really sick to see

The funny thing is that the PS1 is what I had, and it's the version of Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom that I played. I had fun and didn't mind too much that tagging was not possible on the PS1's hardware.

This Version of MVC1 on PS1 should be included in the Disc Cover as a bonus disc, but this gem is too good to be true, like a dream that didn't happen 🥲

THIS is the version I remember. When I first played the Arcade version it felt like a different game. This was all we played in the PS1 Era of fighting games alongside EX2 Plus.
