Lets test the Umarex HK VP9 .43 launcher | This one has been on the list for a LONG time! 

Aloha from Hawaii! I bought a VP9 for my wife, and when an airsoft version came out, I bought her that as well. Now that there's a .43 cal. one out, I feel compelled to grab that too! It would probably make for a good trainer. Also, the real VP9 feels top-heavy too. For what it's worth, my go-to pistol is a Glock 22 (.40 cal) but I also have a Byrna for less-lethal.

I have the glock and the PPQ and now the VP9. My glock has the worst trigger pull,(blistered my finger), my PPQ has an easy trigger and shoots well. The VP9 is now my best all round launcher. It has a smooth trigger and good sights.

As for Looks.... I think that pistol is the Best Looking T4E PISTOL. Trigger Pull and Accuracy goes to the PPQ. Maybe in Future, you can try out the Umarex QAB 43 White Ball Ammo on Skully. Thanks for another Good Video.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better. Would love to see a head to head between the Walther PPQ and the HK VP9. My understanding is that both of these have the highest FPS for the semiautomatic .43 calibers.

Welcome back... We missed you. I hope you're feeling better now. This launcher looks amazing and definitely looks like a fun one to shoot. Bought my first set of Pepperball Max rounds today as I feel like if I'm going to pass the Chemical exam for CA I should have a few for if I ever truly need the Pepperball rounds. I'm still waiting for Byrna to fix the spring tension issue with the 7 round clips before I buy any as they are great for Kinetic rounds, but are a little too strong for the chemical rounds and were actually breaking the rounds in the magazines. Not a good thing when you're dousing yourself when you're firing them lol. I had a thought over Thanksgiving and I wanted your opinion on it... Over the past year or so of watching various content creators reviewing the self defense launchers, I've noticed that as more of these self defense launchers are reviewed, the more people seem to be attacking each other in the comments sections over which launcher is better. As someone who has tested a crap load of these things doesn't it seem like it really doesn't matter which you choose, that no matter which one you buy, it really comes down to what you're the most comfortable using? I mean the .43 rounds are the smallest, but they make up for their size with the velocity and speed at which they can be fired whereas the .50 rounds are larger but travel slower while having a little more impact and delivery and the .68 rounds are the slowest but have the biggest impact and delivery. In the end they're all good choices so I don't understand why people attack each other or in some cases the reviewer. Have you noticed this trend or am I just crazy (and Yes my wife would say I'm crazy, but she's stayed with me for 27 yrs).

As someone thats used to an m1911 commander, i appreciated the heavier trigger pull. But for the soft hands of glock users, yeah its a bit much

I wish Umarex would quit playin around and give us a .50 caliber blowback launcher w/the co2 in the magazine like the .43 t4e's, but running like 15-20 joules out of the box. Then we could have a realistic looking and sounding launcher w/a decent sized pepperball, strong (and legal!) defensive power, and the ability to stay in the fight longer with simple reloads. Hi Jon, I've been thinking about the issue you experienced with the heaviness on the trigger pull. During the production of this video, did you change out the spring in the cartridge? Typically the spring already in the cartridge is for paintballs and the rounds you were using are much heavier (i.e., rubber/steel rounds). As such, the heavier spring would probably need to be used, because it would provide better support as the trigger is preparing to release the round due to the heavier spring could maintain the weight prior to firing it. Just my thoughts and could be completely off base here.

Hello Jon. I realize you've been busy I honestly don't know when you sleep. I am curious if the different spring for the valve in the magazine for these 43 caliber pistols improved performance enough to even bother. Again, thanks for the work you put into these videos.

I have full faith in my hdp 50's power thanks to your video on AR removal, but would you honestly recommend getting a 43 cal as well? I've been torn on it for a while but after holding a 43 cal pistol at a paintball store I kinda want one

Great video. Any ideas on how I can get mine to lock back when the magazine is empty? It hasn't done that since I bought it.

I do food delivery overnight to help pay bills but my state won’t allow me to conceal a handgun until I am 21; out of the VP9, the PPQ, and the G17, which would you recommend for reliability, durability, and effectiveness (energy/joule) with metal rounds for a self defense EDC CCW? I’m tired of carrying just a knife walking through apartment complexes filled with meth addicts just to deliver pizza for a 5 dollar tip, I need something that can keep me safe

Not sure if you'll see this, (old video); but after a year-what's your impression of the HK as compared with the PPQ?.... My initial takeaway was mainly the heavier trigger, did that smooth out at all?... I'm interested in getting one of the two, but while I can get the PPQ substantially cheaper; the HK just tickles my fancy, for it's looks... But, function is more important, so need to stick with that LOL... Thanks, Jesse

I just realized this was uhh released after the glock??? if so why did they not just use the glock magazine system, twist the bottom but no they gotta still use the allen key man i hate that lol

Hey John, I have a question for you. It’s about the Hdp50. I know you have a 3d printer. Many of us guys have a problem over time with the stock detent wearing down. (It’s that plastic cap on the end of the barrel when yo open the launcher up). Would you be able to 3d print some and sell them as a replace my part? I know I’d buy them and I’m sure all these other guys who modify them would. Especially the guys on the Hdp50 Facebook forums. In fact some of us are working on making them out of pex plumbing pipe. I think a 3D printed one would be much better? If you could make a couple I’d love to buy them to test them out. Thanks

Fun fact ! That is the same pistol used in the Resident Evil video games. But I will not purchase that h&k until they make a quick piercing magazine. Plus H&K is notorious for thee worst customer service in the business. But luckily I think S&W and H&K both license other companies to make these air guns. Please find out if there is a quick piercing magazine coming out for this one

This gun qas kinda lacking IMO, for $200 you can get a bad a** pcp pistol and this thing is soooooo weak!!! Def needs an upgrade kit...
