Letting go - Paul mccartney live at Hyde park 

This is one of those songs that rock when played live!!!

That was incredible. He really did feel like letting go at the end there. That's the Paul I love live on stage. Nothing touches the Wings Over America version, but this was awesome. It's probably been so long since he'd done it, it didn't feel like the same ol' routine like many of other songs. He gave this one 110%. And yeah, I've always wondered myself where the Ric has gone. I don't think I've seen him with it since "All The Best" promos some 20 years ago or so.

Maca looks better than any of those other "old" rockers!! He takes care of himself -- knows how to love, rock, live life to the fullest. I STILL love this guy.

Listen to that freaking scream at 4:10 It is EXACTLY like when he was young. EXACTLY!!!

Was there in the audience and it was the most awesome show. Sir Paul is a LEGEND.

Thanks for posting this. I loved the inclusion of this classic. The rare Wings songs he performed - Mrs Vandebilt, 1985, Let Em In , Rock Show etc all sounded superb. Are you able to post any more - take it this was the live youtube stream?

I love the way McCartney tortures his voice. He'll just go on till he drops. Although my favourite Paul is the 65-76 Paul when his voice was way more elastic, I do think this has an edge, it's got the blues.

I was there, on that glorious hot day. My 1st time seeing him live, I got a bit choked.

Paul needs to ditch the Hofner for the Ric on the wings stuff IMO...Still great to see him doing "Letting Go " again. Now if he will only add "Monkberry Moon Delight" to the set it would be perfect! :)

@Jollysun I loved the version of Something that used the ukelele - it provided a beautiful fragile acoustic introduction to the song. This made the moment that the "full band" version kicked in all the more poignant, especially with the images of George Harrison on the screens and the sunset.

My guess is, with Paul at 70, the Hofner is preferred for being much lighter and more maneuverable than the Rick - with a shorter neck to boot. It's as much for practicality as it is for nostalgia! On the Wings tracks, though, the Hofner just doesn't seem to have the punch (or maybe the sound is a bit off on the video) as with the RIck. Something like Silly Love Songs would not sound right without it.

Well if it's ok for Paul to stick on root notes on bass, then It's good enough for me...cos that's about all I can do!

A very decent version, though the Hofner bass sound is weaker than the original Rick sound.
