The fact that he is not training to arm wrestle but to do snatch and C&J which requires a totally different muscle group activation? My point is this video in itself is stupid comparing two athletes of different skillset and none here is mightier than the other. Imagine me comparing ballerinas with gymnast. 🤣
@@vidyarai2047 The comparison isn't dumb in itself because armwrestling has 0 carryover to the bench, the only thing it does is toughen up the elbow tendons and even then, it's not that great of an exercise for it, Levan has also said he does BP 5-6 times a year Now if the comparison was Lasha vs Levan in an armwrestling match or a weightlifting comp, then yeah, it would be a dumb comparison
@@Lil_Smelly I'm not sure I agree with AW having 0 carryover to BP or vice versa. The side pressure in AW is heavily dependent on chest muscles and doing AW or BP will strengthen the move. In fact Lasha shouldn't be questioned if his BP is a bit lower than Levan because snatch and CJ have little to do with chest.
@@freud1025 The amount of force that is applied in the BP is way to excessive to be effective on the table via side pressure, AT MOST you need a 225lb BP if you're a heavyweight, even Jerry Cadorette has said the same thing and he is know to wrestle in a style that has the most carryover. Basic hooking sure involves pecs but they are just a link in the chain and again, don't exert that much force, and I'm sure I don't need to mention top rolling. Fact of the matter is, you don't need a big bench to be a good arm wrestler, and it doesn't really help as it even hampers your mobility by preventing you to get tight across your chest, and I don't see Todd Hutchings *cought* side pressure king *cough*, Dave Chaffee and many other side pressure dominant pullers doing many BP's
@@Lil_Smelly I mean I agree with everything you said, better words would be bp has some carryover to AW. Not 0. Meaning you can still be good at AW but if you also added some BP you'd be even better.
why are people upset that lasha can't bench as much as levan? he doesnt need to train it. hes still one of the greatest athletes of all time. its like getting mad that lasha cant run a 10 second 100m
Olympic Weight lifters are discouraged from maxing out on the flat bench press as they need to lift a weight over head and the flat bench can restrict motion and flexibility of the shoulder joint.
I am always amused by this sort of argument against the bench press. if an ignorant person says citing weights will make you musclebound , we are quick to say nonono, look at all sports teams using weight training , look how flexible I am etc etc etc..but then the same person will be against bench presses for an olympic lifter saying it will inhibit flexibility( i.e. make you musclebound). my own experience is that many olympic lifters use the bench press in a power phase including Talakadze
@@418cjpaul What do you mean your own experience? Take a look at olympic weightlifting programs online, they almost never have bench press in them. The only program I’ve found that did was specifically trying to incorperate bodybuilding, i.e. it wasn’t a program for someone who wants to be the best weightlifting competitor. It’s once in a blue moon that you see top weightlifters bench press.
@@418cjpaul I’m a weightlifting coach. There’s some truth to this in not maxing out a bench press but it’s simply because there are other more effective alternatives like a weighted dips that produce better results for weightlifters. But with benching there’s no reason max out. If it is programmed it’s usually at a capacity you can rep out for a good 5-8. The idea that it’ll ruin mobility if all you train is snatch and clean and jerk is just wrong and needs to be eliminated. There’s just more effective movements to target the same areas for the sport specific movements. Hope this helped better understand
@@tychobrahe6379 the programs you see online are almost never the strength building phase. certainly if the lifter is training for a big meet he should focus on the lifts and squats. but in the prepatory training stages bench presses deadlifts rowing and dips are often used.my experience is based on seeing these performed plus conversations with foreign lifters. I would agree that very few American lifters incorporate these strength building exercises in their training
@@SCESG400 see my response to Tycho. you do not need to max out. but 3 sets of benches in your strength phase once a week can be helpful. just ask Lasha
Both are great but i see many people complaining about the unfairness of this because "lasha is a weighlifter he doesnt need to bench" , bro Levan is an armwrestler he doesnt need to bench either 💀
@@dinganibba3987 bicep curl, we'll devote a sport to that …or maybe not. Some of the most knowledgeable strong men believe that Talakhadze is the strongest man in the world, that if he switched over to strongman, he would be unbeatable. It's always open for debate, but if he totals 500kgs he will be the greatest ever in a discipline that's had 100s of thousands of competitors.
Лаша это спортсмен тренирующий всё своё тело а Леван удиляет все тренировки рукам и впринцапе верху поэтому у него показатели в жиме больше. Это тоже самое что сравнить их в рывке и толчке.
Stupid comparison, weightlifters (штангист) don't go heavy on bench press because it has negative effect on shoulder movement, speed and flexibility. You are comparing totally different techniques, it would be like comparing jerk techniques. I think a gringo made this video.
Some strength sport knowledge: Olympic weightlifting is lower body strength dominant sport, whereas arm wrestling is mainly upper body. There's no "VS" here, obviously Levan is going to be stronger, not even close.

Weightlifting and powerlifting are different sports..comparisons are a nonsense...
Какой то странный ролик. Его цель показать что сильнейший человек планеты слабее амресретлера? Так у них разные цели. Пусть поприседают например. Убого короче
Doesn’t allow a full range of movement of the scapula-humerus unit. Places extraordinary strain on the most unstable joint of the body (glenohumeral joint)....it is rare to find a heavy benchpress person who hasn’t injured their shoulder in some way at some stage. Although used to bulk up pectoral muscles, it actually is not a movement that isolates the pectorals. Has virtually no functional carryover to daily activity. Etc, etc. If you really want to work upper body in a functional, more shoulder friendly way try full range pushups with (if you want to) weight discs placed on your back. Also benchpress can be useful complement to pushups if you focus on the negative phase of the bench press: press the bar quick and the very very very slowly lower it to chest...and repeat ...don’t use heavy weight (you won’t need to) with this.
In weightlifting field, Talakhadze is number one permanently, and Shavili is only a baby. Never make a comparison between Talakhadze with anyone in this field. Practicing with the weight is planned to get the best result for his body, not to show how heavy or how many reps.
@@ameer5120 I am not disagreeing but like I said nobody cares bench press is the popular Lift everyone knows Julius Maddox world record bench press who holds The Squat and deadlift records record don't know don't care.
@@ameer5120 I have no idea what your point is that's all I'm saying is bench press is way more popular you go to a bar no one's going to ask you how much you deadlift or squat they always ask you what your bench that's the popular Lift in the United States anyway that's all my point is. When I enter bench only meets the place is packed deadlifting power comps not many people I'm not saying which exercise is better than the other they are all good
