Guys, the long range Model 3s and Ys can charge at 48A. The limit comes from the rating on the internal AC to DC converter of the car. Standard Range Plus definitely is limited to 32A. The shorter range Model Y may also be limited, not sure. I have two Gen 2 wall connectors that intelligently split 56A between two cars. If only one car is charging, it'll charge at 48A. With two cars, they'll split 56A for 28A a piece.
The older one has heat issues on the plug can you revisit and check temps when charging and max rates? I have the first version and the NEMA 14-50 at 32a get hot enough to burn you. Do you have a thermal camera?
I’d like this to compare to my gen 1 travel master, I have a flir one, IR thermometer. Would be willing to give footage back so you can add to this review. I could also send it back after for another chance for someone else. My main concerns is safety so want to share this with you. Mine gets concerning hot with NEMA 14-50 at my parents house. I have several different connections for my travel master: NEMA 6-50, NEMA 14-50 NEMA 14-30, and NEMA 5-15

Hi Zac & Jessie, good review overall. My one point of confusion is your statement at 6:34 that M3+MY only fast-charge at max 32 Amp on 220v. Seems odd since with a tesla wall connector it goes up to 48A on 220V - do you mean with non-Tesla systems? Just curious. Still would be a good travel charger unit.
You're right, the long range cars can charge at 48A. It's a limitation of the internal AC to DC converter only. The M3 SR+ is only 32A. I'm sure there are other shorter range models that also have this limit. The Tesla Mobile Charger is limited to 32A as well.
Please send me the charger. My current charger just crashed last week and I'm stuck having to sit at a public charger after work to keep my Smart EV charged.
48A is the AC charge rate for most models of the M3 & MY. Only the base models are limited to 32A. So, a portable charger that allows up to 40A charging would charger your Tesla faster than this one and the Tesla Mobile Connector that are limited to 32A.
