knobber Always a huge fan of Level 42 since they came out with "Something About You". To me, in the 80's they were one of the top groups along with the best of the best of that era.
knobber:... they did with me ol' lad!!! I was nuts about 'em! Bought everything they released and bought it on both vinyl and cassette! Everything on video and I was there at a sold out Wembley Arena the night they recorded the vid of Live At Wembley, which I bought very shortly after. Great band, genuine musicians and fantastic music. I hear Lavel 42, and I could almost weep for the kids today and the soul-less, awful, mass-produced sounding, all-sounds-the-same, sterile, autotuned crap they have foisted on them!
I do not know about the public but, as for me (as a young man, I was deeply involved playing music actively), the performance of Level 42 is a real treat. Particularly, I enjoy the energy-power-station. aka, the drummer. He is, with the bass guitar player certainly, something exquisite indeed. Yet, all of them are doing fine in a well designed orchestration. Their live performance stands second to none. My congrats guys for making my time.
+ApriliaGuy1969 Apsoloutely agree never seen anyone who can play slap bass that can come close to him, Jorge Casas from believe it or not from Miami sound machine is a very good slap bassist but Mark is King of them all pardon the punn!!
@@seye100 I play bass for 35 years and I masterd lessons in love include the singing but that's it. I only can play that song because it's guitar chords he's playing note for note. He is just fantastic
Surprisingly almost EVERY 80's singer can sing and still sound like the 80's if not better. Because in that ERA you genuinely could sing and not auto tuned.
@@christopherasuncion4671 I'll drop just one name Milli Wanilli. The group that got hounded out of the music biz because they couldn't sing themselves. It was that frowned upon - it literally put them out of the music industry. Sure there were playback in the 80s too, in some cases, but artist had to be able to sing in case they were on TV programs who based their live acts upon the artists actually playing LIVE. Like on David Letterman, Conan, SNL and whatever you had of real quality TV shows. Its a joy to watch old clips from Letterman or Johnny Carson, when the artists performed live, then later was invited to sit down and TALK about their music.

This song has always had what I consider my near fave Synth and Bass Line. Now I am even more impressed with the musicianship! Damn. Addressing the crowd, chewing gum, going to town on that bass. I don't know how he does it? This band is under rated. In the USA I heard Something About You a lot more than this track, but it is my favorite! Loved the video as a kid.
Really looking forward to seeing Level 42 perform at this years Rewind Festival. One of the best 80's bands in my opinion. Praying that this years Festival isn't cancelled due to Covid.

Saw them live some years ago in a small venue, and they played amazingly!! one of the top bands from the 80s era, no doubt. The new drummer is also incredible!! :))
The electrical tape on the thumb helps to provide a sympathetic vibration or "bounce" so some energy is conserved. That and turning the bass boost up so he has to loose less energy.
Absolutely brilliant, I love Level 42, Mark's vocals is amazing😘😘. When are you going to come to Dublin Mark, soon I hope, have loved your music since I was a teenager. I pray it will be soon, please Mark and the rest of the band too 🙏🙏😘😘♥️♥️
