We are back for another episode of the podcast and my guest today is none other than Levi Kitchen. Levi is currently in the middle of his breakout season as a professional Motocross and Supercross rider. He narrowly missed out on this years 250 West Coast title in a decided at Salt Lake and is now in the thick of the AMA Motocross Championship against longtime rival Haiden Deegan.
On this episode of the podcast we talk about his love of all things fishing, his unique upbringing by typical motocross standards, his life in Washington, taking racing seriously, his early years at Star Yamaha, leaving for Pro Circuit Kawasaki, we talk about money in the sport and his golf swing.
Levi is an extremely cool guy to hang out with and I really wanted to spend a few hours. I think that really comes across in this conversation.

But they were my two favorite 250 riders this Supercross season (I was happy they were on seperate coasts) and I WON a race worn Levi Kitchen jersey at Fox Raceway which made me even a bigger fan for life! This is a good rivalry. It’s nice to see a friendly one where people are still friends but aren’t scared to show someone a wheel. Training together as much as they did is going to keep this an aggressive but reasonably clean. sometimes those are the best kind of battles. They last longer when your both rubber side down and battling with a homi.

The way Hymas rode that 2nd moto for the win should probably tell everyone no one is going to dominate this class the entire season there’s going to be tracks that fit each rider differently which is gonna reflect in the results - Just like how insanely good Levi was on that super rutted out supercross Track no one could touch him that day . I love how diverse this class is this year . Makes every race that more exciting to watch

Someone get that kid some hearing protection. I was just like him when I was younger. Years of loud 4 strokes and me thinking my helmet cut the noise enough was kidding myself. Tinnitus sucks sometimes. Most times you ignore it but sometimes it can be absolutely panic inducing because it’s not something you can control in your body. Not a good feeling. Wear ear pro kids. It’s way cooler to be able to hear when you’re 37 than kid yourself thinking you’re too tough to wear ear pro.

I’m not going to lie. I was raised in Temecula where Deegan is from. The way he talks isn’t a strategy. Every rich daddy’s boy just talks the way haiden does. The impediments and mannerisms he has is pure Temecula attitude all the way. Totally a cookie cutter persona and mannerisms. These kids were great at anything they touched and never wore the same shirt twice. Just the way it is. Still rooting for him though for the home town sake🤙🏽

Haiden is riding levels above everyone else in the 250 class. When he wins he don't just win he makes a statement. Haiden is like a sponge on that track he watches everyone and learns their style to see what he can use from it or how to use it to his advantage. He will be tough to beat.

Its called management. The gap was 2.5seconds bc that all it needed to be. If p2 is pushing as hard as possible to catch p1, but p1 keeps it at 2.5 seconds, its bc p1 didnt have to push any harder. Why would p1 push it to the max if they dont need to. Why take unnecessary risks when hunting for a championship? Lets say p1, pushes as hard as possible like Eli-To , js7 or rc used to, but goes down, injures themselves or causes a mechanical? Would it have beem worth it to show off? Not if it costs p1 the championship. To me, maintaining a 2.5 second lead, maintaining composure, and maintaining situational awareness is something typically we see from season vets and past champs, not a just turmed 18year old kid. I believe 238 when he said he had more in the tank, and more speed at his disposal should he need it. Not even a 238 fan. Im a fan of the sport. But i refuse to let my own personal biases get in the way of critical thinking and common sense.

Disagree. If Deegs could have put a gap on him he would have. Nobody wants someone on their back tire for 30m. Thats not how they manage races. They make pushes to try and break the guy following them and it showed in the lap times. It just didn’t work. Close race to the end

He even gave up on trying to catch Hymas because he knew couldn't and then acted like he didn't have to after it was obvious he tried. Comparing Deegs to J-Law is dumb. J-Law was all talent not work ethic. J-Law was so much more of a character than Deegan. Deegan actually cares and wants to win, I don’t think J-Law hardly cared about winning or championships. Also I like kitchen but he’s nowhere near a Villapoto either. I respect out of desperation trying to creat a narrative that’s he’s RV and deegs is J-Law to create some good guy bad guy scenes but it’s not reality. I just don’t see kitchen coming along and winning a lot of championships and Deegan falling off the rails and parting so hard he looses his vision of winning. I know it’s just a comparison but I think it’s just a silly one. Neither guy is anywhere close to what he’s saying.

@@Mason-fj5dh Different sports. Fighters talk shit before the fight and basketball is during (82 games) but afterwards it's bad sportsmanship. I don't remember McGrath, RC, JS7, Dungey or Tomac Badmouthing anyone in a podium speech unless it's in the heat of the moment. The kid is amazing but arrogance (not confidence) is not a likable quality.
