He was told off for holding his swords backwards in his recruit days. The fact is, he had self-taught himself to use odm gear, and therefore he could find a method easiest for him instead of being instructed on how to use it. This also proves that Levi is a natural when it comes to fighting and odm gear, as he became the strongest soldier with his self-taught technique!
And he used to hold his knife like that while he was a criminal in the underground. The scouts told him it was the wrong way to hold the blade but he didn't care 😂
Levi as a trained lightsaber duelist would probably master all 6 forms and the unorthodox stuff outside of that, and be one of the strongest beings in the Star Wars universe. Scary

yes but he needed 2 other fingers to work the triggers in the handle. so instead of using the ring and pinky fingers for the external trigger. he now has to use the pinky for the external trigger and the ring finger for the 2 triggers in the handle

And the reason he holds his swords like that is because he is self taught with ODM gear and didn’t go through training. So he doesn’t wield them traditionally
Actually, they way he operates the ODM gear is the effect of him using the ODM gear mostly for transport when he was still underground, he never needed the blades thus this habit of usage
Man I was so convinced Levi was gonna die at some point (being a non manga reader) I love Levi and seeing him not only be a part of that final battle but actually living through it, priceless
its actually the reason why he spins and cuts napes like a beyblade, if he holds one sword backward he can spin and cut consistently without having to complicate his arm placement, if he's gonna spin right he'll hold the left sword backwards and if he's spinning left he'll hold the right sword backwards.
