Levon & Sean - R.I.P. Levon late in his career and Sean Costello just beginning his are both huge losses to our Americana and Blues music scenes. Recorded live in Woodstock, NY.
Levon was the king of the backbeat, period. This tune was perfect for a Midnight Ramble offering. I actually got to know Johnnie Johnson and saw several of his shows in person after his “Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll resurgence. Sean, I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing. Initially I didn’t think I liked him, until I started checking out all the bootlegs. The kid was a thesaurus of blues and R&B guitar and was growing a vocal and performing style that would be something now. I’m glad his family is still working to make something positive out of his early tragic death.
I saw Sean play a couple of times at the Northside Tavern in Atlanta. Terrific blues artist just starting out. R.I.P. Sean & Levon, both were great artists.
I love Levon... but he lost the beat at the start, went too fast and screwed up the whole thing. RIP Levon. And whoever the chick is, she lends to the concept of a bad idea to begin with. Jesus Christ, who was sadistic enough to video this? How about having respect?
