Thanks! Was looking for a tear down video particularly for the center console.wanted to route some wires through there for audio system upgrade..this helped a lot..thanks!
Great video! Thanks for sharing the process. If you install a new dashboard with a new air bag, will the computer accept it? Or do you need to reinstall the original airbag from the old dash?
Either way you may need to reset the SRS system, I don't know off-hand if a new bag will need a Lexus diag reset or if you can use a generic scan tool.
Disconnect the battery before doing anything. Put the old airbag in and you will not need to reset anything when you are done. Any piece of the srs system you change will require recalibration with a lexus diag computer
I haven't watched the whole video yet so maybe the answer is in the video but did anyone know of a video where it shows you how to remove the instrument cluster
Hi Wes! I have a melting dash also, on the 2007 Lexus ES350. I have a question regarding another area. The floor board @ driver side. I have always done my own detailing but took my car to a detail shop last Friday. Friday night, I nearly had a wreck because what seems to be an air duct blocked my foot from coming off the gas, and the white plastic duct was trapped behind the brake. I nearly had a wreck. I pulled over and found my air duct was clean broken off, it was dark so I waited until the next day to investigate. It appears an entire section of carpeting or otherwise cover to all things under the dash is missing. Carpeting stops just over brake and gas pedals. Have I just never noticed this gray padding that is usually found under carpet from that point upwards, or did they pull a number on me at the detail shop? I see this is an old post, but thank you for an answer should you see my question. Thanks much!
Hey! Glad you survived your near accident, I’m not familiar with this issue, but yeah… most carpet does have the sound deadening insulation on the backside and usually stops a couple inches from the edge of the carpet
That was a much faster reply than I imagined! Thanks! Now I just feel crazy thinking they must have ripped something off there. And, the broken air duct. It was just ofd timing for it to fall off, an hour after they detailed it. I sure appreciate your time.
@@Theautobodyguy What years of the ES350 had it originally? Can't seem to find a clear answer, but it seems like it was only the earlier models? 07-08?
@@yoito77 check your Lexus dealer, I just bought a used 2008 es350 and lexus have a campaign that covers most years of es350 and some other models, they replaced mine for free. Ask them for the ZLZ campaign.
@@ashuua2909 I've thought of picking up from the junk yard as well, but I'm reading lots of the installers from lexus will be new guys or they just don't care, leave a bunch stuff loose inside the dash and you'll hear screws for example bouncing all around. This job looks a bit much for me as I don't have a garage. I actually read someone got their insurance to cover everything, so I'm gonna try to at least see what they say.
Tbh it does not seem complicated at all. I'm not mechanically inclined either, but if u have something else to drive I'd say take ur time and give it a shot. I'm gonna do it once I find a dash.
Why would anybody buy a Lexus after this? The dash quickly disintegrated, the keys stopped working and they charge a fortune for replacements, the a/c leaks and mildews the floor and changing the oil the the most aggravating I’ve ever seen.
