Thank you so much for all you provide. Just did it myself with your helpful video and just out of curiosity I called my Lexus dealership and priced a cabin air filter and they said $72 .00 for a $19.00 filter and to install it was $197.00 . Unfreaking believable!!! Thank you and please keep them coming .
Air flow arrow need to be arrow down ! Air flow come in from the top . The cover say arrow up because the oem filter one say arrow up arrow for you to follow. It did not say airflow UP.
Awesome video, my brother! Just wanted to let you know that the airflow on these vehicles is downwards. On OEM filters, and certain aftermarket filters, the up arrow is the direction that the filter should be oriented in when installing. Most aftermarket filters will have an arrow with airflow orientation, in which the filter should face downwards. Hope this helps!
The other comment about airflow direction is correct in that the airflow is downward and not upward. This is a common mistake because the other items of the filter assembly have arrows with “UP” embossed next to the arrow indicating position of placement. The filter element has an arrow with “Air Flow” printed next to the arrow. The filter should be installed with the arrow on the filter pointed downward because, in this application, that is the direction of the airflow. To confirm the direction of airflow of pleated filters, simply look at the side of the filter that has trapped dirt, tree-trash and insects. The dirty side of the filter is the side where the air enters. Also, the old filter shown in the video is very dark in color simply because it is a carbon impregnated filter that is designed to remove foul orders as well as physical partials. Most aftermarket cabin filters are white in color because they do not contain carbon as a part of their money saving design.
What makes you think the air flow is up? No where does it say that air flow is up? If your old filter was an OEM filter then it would have said "UP" on it but that has nothing to do with air flow; it simply means this side up. All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow. Otherwise the blower motor would be full of dirt and debris. See these videos... @@artysgarage I'm pretty sure the STP filter says "AIR FLOW" on it and not "UP". I couldn't see it that well in your video but just after the 2:35 mark in your video I distinctly heard you say "air flow up" but the air flow is down. Most aftermarket filters have air flow arrows but a few do have arrows that indicate which side goes up. If the air flow was up then dirt would not collect on the topside of the old filter. However, dirty air comes in from the top and is filtered just before it enters the blower. You do get that, right? Yes the arrow on the tray points up but not the arrow on the filter element.
