Mark Levinson amplifier units in the GS are known for failing early - resulting in no sound at all - and is an expensive replacement. The amplifier of the factory Pioneer premium sound system in the base GS that I have is actually far more reliable. This Pioneer premium sound system already employ excellent sounding full range (2 way tweeter + midrange) units active driven in the dashboard so sound staging is pretty decent. Only flaw is that the 6.5" door mid-woofers are mediocre and lack mid bass punch (Not an issue if you don't usually listen to loud dynamic music). I replaced them with Hertz ML 1800.3 LEGEND 7" and am enjoying a very punchy sound with better dynamics and clarity at high volumes. Enough improvement in slam for me to actually disconnect the rear subwoofer completely. Not exactly a cheap upgrade - but it's working well for me as I like listening to live rock recordings / movie sound tracks at high SPL.

Its really huge difference. Mark Levinson in GS was one of the best Ive ever heard. Had one and its worth it
