Lexus Navigation Error Unable To Read Map Data DVD Drive Fix 

I had a somewhat common problem for Lexus navigation systems from this error and I've decided to make a video on how I fixed it in my 2004 GX470.
The Error says "Unable to read data, Check if map DVD is correct" and the navigation system does not work. Sometimes it'll work for a minute or two but eventually throws this error.
The problem is actually the drive itself in this situation, though I suppose it could be the disc. I attempted to dismantle the drive and clean it using the electronics parts clean and rubbing alcohol but the problem persisted. I also tried another disc to no prevail. I ultimate replaced the drive with a used drive from a different lexus which shares the same part.
This same diagnosis and repair process can be used on most navigation systems from this era in lexus vehicles. The location of the drive does vary based on model. When looking for a used drive (if you go that route) MAKE SURE you match your part number! That is paramount! The brackets may need to be swapped over depending on the vehicle the drive came from.
