Leyley’s Journey
On Thursday, June 14th, 2018, Leyley, the giant manta ray weighing more than 700lbs with a wingspan of over 11 feet was transferred from the Atlantis marine habitat into the Atlantic Ocean with the assistance of more than 20 marine aquarists, a helicopter, and the well-wishes of guests.
As part of the continued research efforts of this majestic marine animal, Leyley’s journey is being tracked and monitored by satellite with the assistance of Mote Marine Laboratory.
