Re: Hinge for anyone reading. Removing the screws from the hinge and just opening the screen as I normally would was much easier than wrestling with a screwdriver to pry it open. Just open it enough to work on and close the screen back down, since it's not screwed in anymore the hinge will stay open.

THANK YOU!! I bought a new DC jack for my Dell XPS 15 but wasn't sure if it was for sure the problem. Seeing the broken one, it looks EXACTLY like mine right now so I know that is my issue and now I'm confident with changing it out! So freaking helpful!!

I fixed a laptop for the very first time because of you. I have an xps 17 but was able to adapt to the minor differences (like not having to mess with the hinge) because you explained the principles so well. The xps 17 has T5 screws... but I got an excuse to buy a whole precision bit kit (cost more than the DC cable, lol). Thank you so much. Your video skills are amazing.

Thanks a lot for the video. I was smart enough to stir in the DC port with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Classic. Broke the plastic thingy off. I'm now charging via USB-C, but after seeing this video, I think it's well worth spending the $6 on the replacement port. Thanks a lot.

@brianc111

Yea, just had this happen after only 6 months of ownership, and I rarely pull the adapter out, as it stays plugged in 95% of the time. There is no way they can claim it should break after only 6 months when it's been disconnected maybe a handful of times. If I have to, I'll take them to small claims court.

This is not for the Dell XPS 15 9570! All electrical connections are soldered - not screwed. I recommend everyone who owns the 9570 get the accidental damage coverage from Dell. Good luck getting it scheduled for service. I've been trying for about 3 weeks just to get a call back from Dell to get the jack replaced. Geek Squad cannot fix it due to the soldered connections. There is only one service center in the US to make the repairs. I hope this doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to replace an $8.00 part!

inverterville how do you mean rubbish? Is it poor performance? You may want to check your CPU speed. If you’re having issues with the power jack (assuming you are since you’re at this video!) the laptop automatically throttles the pc to something like 0.74GHz, instead of the usual 3.4, which definitely feels rubbish. Hopefully if/when yours is fixed it runs smoothly again if this is indeed the problem you were having!
