Lundqvist's pads were in the net with the puck still inside them, he took the puck out of his pads afterwards. It's common sense that it was a goal, but common sense doesn't usually prevail with the NHL refs.
I'm lovin' it, who'da thought we'd be a top 5 team with one of the top scoring offensive lines throughout the #NHL in what some ppl would consider year 3 of the rebuild
tbh i think the leafs felt a lot more comfortable to say the least with Matts’ presence on the ice. god it feels nice to watch this team when they play like that :’)) also Merry Christmas to you, Mrs. Dangle and to our favourite victory puppies Charlie and Iggy
So Steve’s neighbors saw him walk out of his house with a camera, throw a puck in the snow, retrieve said puck (all while talking to himself) and walk back inside...
G20 *ummm yes, officer. We would like to report a madman. Oh, he took a puck outside while talking to himself and threw it into the snow. He then picked it up and went back inside*
Merry Christmas Steve, Merry Christmas to Leafs fans scattered all over the world. Yeah, that game last night proves that WE ARE BACK! Marner is Tasmanian devil on ice. Great LFR, a usual ;)
Mike Smith was fully in the net against us in a SO and they ruled it a goal because he was completely in the net. Yet Lundqvist is fully in the net, puck clearly in his pads, and its ruled no goal. Broken league.
his pads werent completely in 100%, the top half of the pads were just on the line, and most probably the puck was in, you cant see it, so how can you 100% conclusively say with absolute certainty that the puck was in?
Manbir B They say no one saw it go TO the net. Interpretation? I'm not sure but then where WAS the puck.... I mean really... And they blew a clear offside call... Yet they were interpreting rules for penalty calls. I'm so frustrated but this league!
Well, here in Sweden we are celebrating Christmas today, but it was still worth staying up till 5 A.M. to watch the game. 😅 Merry Christmas Steve and greetings from Sweden! 🎅
Steve you can't blame Andersen on that first goal... That was all on Gardiner. Andersen wouldn't have to play the puck again if Gardiner was competent with it.
Lol, fuck off. Andersen is just as much at fault for that goal as Gardiner. Goalies are suppose to play the puck regardless of a would've or should've.
MoRiellyMoProblems what was he supposed to do? He played the puck and gave it to his defenceman. Gardiner got caught with and basically threw it at the side of the net. If Andersen just left it there, the ranger grab the puck again.. in a very dangerous spot. So andersen tries to play it again (when he shouldn't have to cause the puck should be cleared by now) but he plays it and none of the leafs are around for a clean pass, Andersen ran out of time and.. yeah. Back of the net. So.. sure.. alittle blame can go to Andersen.. but all of it? Not a chance. It, like so many goals against this season, is on Jake :/
Missed most of last night.s game because of Christmas time duties . But after watching the Utube condensed game and this video, I feel fulfilled . Thanks Boss . Just subscribed to you show
I think your theory of them just taking it easy during multiple back to backs and road games cause of "hockey science" and the standings made more sense cause they seem to be able to turn "the leafs" on and off like a switch at times. However it was great to see the high flying Leafs right before christmas. Like a gift from the organization.
Even the loss against Columbus I felt we were back. Three straight games that I feel good about as I think we are finding that balance between offence and playing a bit of defense
Ya that sucked. Bozak is a pretty good player and he's trying really hard, but he just doesn't seem to have magic hands like a couple other players on the team.
It’s cause you can see Miller trying to get behind the puck to lift it and so Freddy anticipated that and lifted his leg, but Miller fanned on it so it just slid on the ice. Watch where Miller is trying to shoot
I was fine with the no goal call. I don't think Lundqvist pad(the whole thing) was entirely in the net when the puck was lost inside it. The camera angle from the top only showed the bottom half of his pad still inside and the puck could be sitting where his knee was which could be on the line.. there's too many IF's to call it a goal
What if we see a puck go into the glove, its below the netting of it, completely invisible, but the goalies glove is as far back into the net as possible? You can't see the puck... What would happen?
Yeah AM is back and Babs had his line out in a defensive role to finish the game in which Matthews blocked at least two shots that I saw. Then I watched the sports highlights which showed McDavid blocking a shot and exiting that game in a mucho hurtful fashion. Maybe Babs might want to rethink that game-ending lead-holding strategy because our star player has been beat up enough lately.
Fun fact, Every swede can fully understand and somewhat talk Danish and Norwegian. The same goes the other way around. Also no one understands Finnish but most Finns understands Swedish.
As a NYR fan, we really didn't deserve it. Only Lundqvist played a great game. What bothered me a bit was consistency of the refs not that they effected the game. Holden tripped a leafs. Easy penalty. Rangers too many men final 2 minutes. Easy penalty. But what about when Skjei was tripped clear as day in the 1st? What about when the leafs had 6.5 bodies on the ice but wasn't called (1 guy process of getting off which was shown clear as day on NYR broadcast) it probably doesnt matter since our PP is pretty garbo. Also I hate how Hayes was not involved with the play but was offside, if only like soccer haha. Finally I think NHL should try to introduce the hawk eye system (could be wrong name) to help determine goals u can't see such as what soccer and tennis use. Anyway you guys deserved to win and best of luck.
I’m surprised you didn’t talk about either 5-on-3 very much. The PK looked very good, even if that was more thanks to the rangers themselves. But the fact that on an offensive 5-on-3 for 1:23 why were NONE of Matthews, Marner, or Nylander out there for the first 1:05?! As for the question of the game. Matthew coming back slots everyone in better. Kadri doesn’t face as tough competition, Bozak can get sheltered minutes etc. then with Nylander-Matthews connecting again it gives opponents yet another headache.
I didn't feel like the Grabner knee was viscous, it might just be me but it seemed like his knee was out initially but it would have been shoulder to shoulder and the knees positioning only became dangerous once Matthews tried to make a move (I wasn't even sure it should have been a penalty, but again this is just my opinion and I'm open to any points that prove me wrong)
this should have been a goal for the leafs. if anyone remembers, around 4 years ago mike smith wemt to go poke the puck and it popped up into his pants. he backed up into the net and his pants and the puck, which you could not see, went into the net and it was given as a goal. bad call.
We sooooooo got screwed out of a goal, but yeah, if ya can't see the puck...even though all logic dictates that IT'S TOTALLY IN THE NET...but yeah, I get it. I saw a few (just a few) Rangers fans saying their 3rd should have counted. Erm...you can argue that offside calls can be really reeeeeeally close, but that Ranger (can't remember who) had set up camp across the blue line. Frickin' tent, bonfire, roasting marshmallows...that was the most blatant offside I can remember in a while. Totally not a goal, you (very few) Rangers fans calling that call b.s. C'mon. lol
The Rangers back in like 2013 had a goal that didn’t count against the sharks and they ruled in inconclusive evidence even though the puck was clearly in the net! and that would’ve tied the game at 1 and the final score was 1-0 sharks
Thought the game looked very chippy. Refs weren't calling the slashing on the hands like they are supposed to according to the NHL. Looked like a game you would see in years past. Nevertheless Leafs win!!
