@@alexs8846 as a Coyotes fan let me point one or two things out. First, the Coyotes in their temporary den that holds 5,000 people (on the correct side of the Phoenix metro area) are already making 150% of last years gate revenue. The average cost per seat at $170 USD is now more than the NHL average. So the Coyotes location is Glendale (the wrong side of the Valley) was absolutely a factor in why the Coyotes were a bad draw financially. Not now. Second, if your opinion on the Leafs revenue sharing was the case you would be playing with yourself. A lot.

I don't think they played down that much in this game but rather Arizona played up for the biggest audience they get all year and so they brought their A-game again as usual lately - Leafs dominated face-offs, puck and o-zone possession, edged them in hits despite the Yotes generally being a more physical team and outshot them handily while the Yotes also blocked 18 shots and attacked the puck carrier hard to limit time to make good plays while clogging up passing and shooting lanes effectively and forcing the Leafs to cycle around the outside without getting many good shots. There are times the Leafs play down and that's not a good habit and they were definitely in sloppy early season form but Leafs nation really doesn't like to give other teams credit unless it's Tampa or another top level contender - even lesser teams are capable of having good games. Near the end they were clearly getting tired out though and the Leafs started getting more time and space and got things clicking a bit more but too little too late.

Let's be honest, if that was true then Arizona wouldn't win a game at all this year because everyone would have to play down to them to lose. Of course if this is the only game they win then I would stand corrected. They played with the fancy talent, passing and possession. They forgot that you have to shoot the puck to score and looked too hard for the highlight goal. That is a big reason why they lost.

I was thinking that same; the only legal play for Rielly is to lay HIS own stick on the puck after it touches his glove. Despite the anger some feel about the play, it seems like a straightforward black & white glove pass (even if unintentional, but that doesn’t matter). Glancing off the Arizona player is also irrelevant since he certainly never had possession. The officials made the right call.

@@JPMadden I read someone's comment somewhere that it's related to the host university's hockey schedule. They can use the arena, but the university's team takes priority. I have no idea if it's true or not, but it makes more sense than the "not ready" scenario.

@@angiebee2225 It does make sense, in this absurd situation of an NHL team getting evicted from a large arena for intentionally being delinquent on paying the rent and having to beg to be allowed to play in a college arena and play second fiddle to their team. Perhaps the spirit of Howard Ballard or some other crackpot NHL or WHA owner from decades ago has possessed the Coyotes owner. This whole situation is surreal. I feel bad for their players.
