So to recap: - Bergeron is 'Captain Quebecois' - Dangle's filming budget needs to increase for dry erase markers, - Zach Trotman isn't worth the marker ink he DOES have - Zdeno Chara is a Titan - #RiellyDidNothingWrong (because we all know ill-fitting helmets don't do crap). - The LCBO/Beer Store is going to be seeing a lot of Steve between now and March 1st.
Nazem Kadri Bob Ross should have a spot somewhere in the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast as a like a "tips and tricks" short before the game starts xD
You know what would be a great birthday present for me (since, you know, I actually get a birthday this year because it's a leap year)? If the Bruins got Stamkos. I don't know what we'd give up for him, but I'd probably be happy. Unless it was Marchand. I want Marchand to stay a Bruin for life.
I've watched about as many Leafs games as there are fingers (and thumb) on one hand this year. And at some points, in each of the games I've watched, looks like there more structure compared to the teams I have watched of previous years. Now mind you, there is some talent on the team but not a whole lot (Rielly, Komarov, Kadri, JVR, and Riemer). With that being said, I'm still pleased with the progress the Leafs' management and organization is making. Again, there's more structure in their play and the young players they drafted are getting conditioned to play in the NHL some time in their hockey career. Just be patient Steve. The team will be like the Chicago Blackhawks of the league some day.
Marincin shouldn't have given the puck away. If Morgan Rielly is the only person we trust not to do something stupid in his own zone, we've got bigger problems on defense than a lack of helmets. I'm looking at you, Jake.
The leafs were out shot 45 to 29. The first goal was due to a terrible line change. The trainer gave Morgan the wrong helmet. Marincin gave the puck away while the goalie was out of the net. The loss had nothing to do with Morgan. Just the leafs being sloppy as usual and not taking responsibility for it.
Technically, Reilly could have hopped back on the ice sans bucket and the play would have been called dead as soon as the leafs touched the puck. It's an obscure rule, but SOMEONE on the leafs bench should have known it.
I wouldn't mind if Marincin sat a few games and Corrado subd in. Marincin isn't really hard on the puck, and he pinches (unsuccessfully) far too often.
Well look on the bright side...oh wait there is none. It's Boston. Okay that's not fair. Here's the bright side. Edmonton beat Calgary in the shootout AND Edmonton signed Cam Talbot to a 3-yr extension.
I can't say that it was realistically Rielly's fault. Equipment malfunctions all the time, and if this was his stick shattering, no one would've called him out on it. Marincin made a stupid mistake. That's hockey, and it's not just limited to Leafs hockey. We're getting better, sure. But we knew this season was going to be painful, and that small mistakes would cost us as often as big ones (0.8 seconds, anyone?!). It sucks, and the only consolation is that we are currently at the nadir of the rebuild, so it *should* get better... Right?
Should I send Steve some Canadian Club so he can drink sorrows away against the Bruins? We know the Loonie flew south for a long while. A handle [1.75L] of that here is $19. I don't even want to think what the LCBO charges.
blaming it on reilly just means you rely too much on him, which we kind of should (our best defenseman and future captain) but he is a 21 year old and man u don't want him to break his head trying to fit everyone's helmets in time and marincin should be able to pass the puck as an NHLer and sometimes in the dying seconds Bernier should be able to bail the team (I know someone who does that JAMES REIMER) (NOT HATING ON BERNIER JUST SHOWING DIFFERENT OPINIONS
Well? Not the word i would use and that salary he has, u should be expecting better performance. And yeah i would use decent rather than well. Like srlsy holtbeast is getting paid 2 mil and hes contending for the Vezina
Steven stamkos signs with leafs in free agency drouin gets traded to Toronto for bozak phaneuf leafs draft Jesse pulujarjvi and Nazam Kadri becomes a consistent 20 goal scorer on 3rd line leafs pick up better D JVR becomes a elite 30 goal scorer and remior becomes starter.
+Karppaguy a 1 second google search shows that Leo Komarov was born January 23, 1987 (age 28), in Narva, Estonia. He may have dual citizenship but he is a natural born Estonian.
Craig MacGillicutty I'm a first generation Canadian - that doesn't change the fact I'm a natural born Canadian citizen. Do you honestly need this explained to you? The guy was born in Narva, Estonia. His family heritage doesn't matter, nor does any acquired citizenship unless he renounces his natural born status in ESTONIA.
+Day Walker Yeah, he moved to Finland when he was 5, and I don't think he ever even spoke Estonian, only Russian and Finnish. If you want to nitpick, he wasn't even born in Estonia the country, because it was a part of the Soviet Union at the time.

all i could think of was seeing phaneuf sitting right beside reilly smiling with just as big of a melon as morgan has but made no effort to give him his helmet. I also don't see the improvements everyone is talking about, it's still a low chemistry, low skill team with no one being held accountable. Heck ,they are even praising babcock for being in last place, how is that possible?
I'm a Bruins fan and I can see the improvement. The Leafs are going places and no one has any right to tell you to be patient any longer but right now that's really your only choice.
last place over all... where is the improvement? got rid of phil, thats the only improvement i see on the team, otherwise its worse than last year and years before that. the team is +5 years away from competing for the playoffs and thats a wild card spot.
+gg gg That's a serious superstition faux-pas haha who in their right mind would touch anything that belongs to Dion. That being said watching Dion and Hunwick is fucking brutal - pretty much a free pass on either wing every time a fast break happens. The entire defensive core is a joke safe Reilly & he doesn't even get rewarded with PP time. Who do you hold accountable? Everyone from the last management group is pretty much gone and we're only seeing the infancy of the Shanahan era ( still unforeseen if it's going to be a successful era or not). TSN & Sportsnet are the only media outlets praising the leafs because it's a positive PR spin on their own property. If we're in the same place in 3 years then i'll start to get frustrated but I literally had no expectations for the TML this year and very little for the next season. This team is filled to the brim with scrubs and busts.
Or just tighten your chinstrap on your helmet so it doesnt come off? Noone else should be to blame about the players' equipment sliding off except for the players.
Do you honestly believe the leagues rhetoric about it being the officials on the ice making these calls. Every review goes through Toronto, oh wait. But seriously those reviews are made by the war room not officials on the ice looking at a ridiculously small screen. oh by the way they wear headsets I still cannot figure out why they wear headsets for these reviews. There are no whistles involved, it is not that kind of review, obviously they wear them for direction from the ivory tower In Toronto or New York if that group is involved or as president of the owners association from Boston
