Is this THE ONE? If not, what else should be added? UPDATE - YES you can get VRR from the PS5, you just need to set the resoltuion to 4K on the console (which the monitor accepts).
You had me until you found out it was only 1440p. Oled without 4k is a no go for me. Maybe if they make a 4k version I would spend money to get one. I hope they make a 32in size, 27in is way too small.
I need some help I need a monitor but don’t know which to get this LG 27 inch 1440p Oled or the LG 32GQ950 I currently only play my PS5 and use it for both single player games and Modern Warfare. I’d love some help as I’m struggling to make a decision!
@@Leonardinho097 who said that? I feel 32 inch is too small, lg c2 42 4k is the way to go, the desk should be 2.5 feet deep, it's way more immersive for everything, 27 is so tiny you can't see anything in fps game
Some people are missing the target market here in the complaints. It is aimed at Competitive PC Players first. There are way more of those who want to get into OLED Market than Consoles Players that want a 32" Oled at 4k 120hz. PC players prioritize PPI, Refresh Rate, and Input Lag. That's what they provided here with what Display Tech is capable of. 4k/240 isn't quite possible yet without compromise, so they are taking highest market share first.
i want 4k 120 not 32" inch tho simply just cus thats too big for my desk and i need dual monitor so i really would like a 27" monitor that has 4k 120+ with oled but it just doesnt exist i found a mini led which is the closest i can find and i cant even find it for sale anywhere
@Josegdumbniglet_1 you'll get it eventually, but that's an even more niche market. Im not hating on the different configs of OLED. I'm just explaining the Target Consumer.
You're right. A lot of people online write a lot of hate on 1440p, for me thats still the sweet spot. I imagined getting a 3090 or something like that and playing in 4k, in the end the higher framerates looked much better to my eyes.
Great review. I picked up an LG B2 55" during Black Friday and now I'm obsessed with OLED. It's one of those things you don't know what you're missing until you have it. Been playing God of War 2018 via Steam with the graphics cranked and I never seen a game look so good. I will eventually upgrade my monitors to OLED in a few years.
Always so relaxing to watch your videos. No random confusing edits. Soft voice. Just perfect. You should make a podcast where you review different gaming items!
@@SpawnPoiint hi i have a question why u like ps5 more than a pc i want to get a gaming system but idk what system soo pc or console what do u think and what do u like and why
Your videos are so high quality. Thank you, Spawn. Saw your review and decided to pull the trigger on this one. I hope the PPI won't disappoint as you said coming from a 32 inch 4K.
@@JTCPingas I disagree, this was a fantastic review. It was short, sweet, and to the point. The reviewers you mentioned would go so in depth it would most likely be over 2x the length of this video and most people aren’t looking for that.
Update: I have it since yesterday and I freaking love it! 27" 1440p OLED is simply the most perfect in terms of picture quality, pixel density and size! Money well spend this time. ABL seems also much less aggressive depending on presets but holy shit, very great monitor!
@@BlackOut300FPS I returned it because of the annoying ABL, yes, ABL is still there and can't be turned off. And bad grey uniformity. I'm waiting for the Asus version.
Not the competitive market. Competitive market actively avoids anything 4k shut 1440p is just not becoming acceptable with new cpus and gps but 90% are still gonna prefer 1080p and a 25in screen
The 32" OLED 16x9 monitor with a glossy finish is basically the Holy Grail right now. If LG ever makes that, they'll essentially own the gaming monitor market.
PC monitor manufactures over the decades completely lost the ability to produce glossy panels (even if 'producing' means merely not applying a coating, lol). Sadly it seems OLEDs are not enough to re-wire their brains, but we can hope and wait
Good concise review as per usual. I'm curious to know how the anti-glare coating affects the vibrancy of the OLED screen (in comparison to one of your OLED TVs for example).
It’s due on how we create Oled panels and the limitation of it. For the short answer It’s hard to make oled smaller. There is a reason we are now getting oled monitor and it’s due to the new Mother sheet Oled which is the smallest we got it. Before you asked no Aoled is different and that tech issue is that it’s hard to make it larger lol.
I'm waiting for the Asus one which uses the very same panel. The benefit of the Asus one is the heatsink behind the display itself, which may make burn-in less of a concern as the heatsink will cool static things on the image.
@@bootyandbrawns4338 I can wait. I just want a PC Monitor with the LG Display OLED panel which includes a heatsink. Other vendors might provide that as well in the future, who knows.
I really enjoy all of your reviews, great job. I’ve been gaming on a 55” LG OLED C2 and it’s been difficult to find a decent monitor that would live up to the C2. I personally think the 42” C2 would be too large on a desk. I’m glad you explained that 4K isn’t necessary on a 27” screen as that has been a question of mine. I think I’m leaning towards this monitor.
@@AppleVisionOs I tried a 32" and it never capture my attention tion oersonally. I prefer a 27". If it is 144 hz I would be more than happy at the oled level given the fact that I have an ips 144hz at 1440p
I would wish they come out with 27” 4K 120hz or above OLED monitor. And also make the monitor slimmer and lighter for small space/desk and fits on light monitor arm. That would be ideal specs for work and gaming on my Xbox series x
I game with Nintendo Switch. I would like to play Animal Crossing on a bigger monitor. Will this do? I also need to type papers for English class. I hope you can help me choose.
Ive been keeping an eye on this monitor and your the first to put up a proper in depth review so congrats on that mate, do we know when and where we can preorder this in the UK ? Also how is the HDR on this ? would you say its the same as the c2?
All the worries I had with the monitor I think you've addressed. I was on the fence about getting this one, But watching your video helped me make my decision. Just pre-ordered one, If they ever release a 32 inch 4k version, I'll definitely pick up one of those as well. I'm using the Cooler Master GP27U and even though it's 4k and everything looks fantastic. There is noticeable blooming and constant flickering because of the dimming. I can get rid of it by turning off the dimming, But then that defeats the purpose of getting the monitor in the first place. The LG may not be 4k, But it seems like it doesn't really matter because the visuals more than make up for it. I'll probably end up returning the Cooler Master and just keeping the LG. 2023 OLED!
I just sent my gp27u back for a refund the blooming on text and makes it hard to read in game + you can't run it at 160hz at 1440p or 1080p then it fails to wake from sleep when I have my pc in safe mode the added input lag when you enable local dimming was my biggest drawback
@@mirafu3481 It would be a better choice, But the only options are ultra wide monitors. I mainly game on consoles and use my pc for browsing and watching content. So I would end up with black bars on consoles.
So far I love my monitor - issues like brightness really aren’t as big of a problem as I thought they would be before getting it. Very happy with my purchase :)
@@Adam-vx6to it… literally is lmao… in the United States at least - I received mine on the third many got it sooner, how do you think the reviewer got it?
I've had mine for like a week and... It's *almost* perfect, inky blacks, no blooming, beautiful colors, the gaming experience, movies (sometimes when I get stressed in my office lol), I like the little remote... But no 4k display really is a bummer😔 It's not that big of a deal tbh but just knowing that this would be the perfect monitor if it had a 4k display and a thunderbolt port just feels like when you step on gum while walking and it's on your mind every step you take lol but nonetheless, I don't see myself changing monitors in the near future. I have the XDR Display and I enjoy this one way more (and it was cheaper hehe)
lol stepping on gum! I get what you mean about the lack of 4K, but the clarity 'almost' makes up for it. It's sharp and I too won't be swapping this (long term) for a while. I might review others, but this is the one for me.
@@Speedy94uru And I don't need a 2 story house. I don't need 2 monitors. I don't need my PS5 or my xbox lmao this is about *wanting* a better experience, there *is* a difference, just not a big one🤷🏻♂️ But, I still want it.
@@SpawnPoiint Yup, the clarity is amazing. Great quality👌🏻 And same, actually I think I'll just take this one home lol and keep testing whatever comes out in the future for my office. LG has my heart rn tbh.
@@SpawnPoiint Thanks for the review! I am really torn between LG32GQ950 and this one, I want to downsize from LGC1 it is too big and text is not clear as I would like it to be. Watched your review of LG32GQ950 and I really like it but it is a trade off that I am not sure I am willing to make. I really like 4k and 32 is nice size for it, dunno first world problems. :D 2023 OLED :D
2023 OLED 😍, I always watch your videos to the end. This definitely the monitor for me . I gamed on an LG OLED 32inch in a certain gamers event and I loved it. I hope to one day get one. Thanks for the great video as always.
I don't understand why they decided on a matte finish. That's a bust for me. Once I went glossy, I can't go back. The picture quality is just so pristine. Almost perfect monitor =/
Agreed. With the high brightness who needs a matte screen? Give us a glossy screen instead for OLED or at least give us a choice. The endgame OLED for me tho is a 32" 4K 240Hz monitor. In the meantime I would even take 120Hz. 27" is nice if you sit closer or have younger eyes but I now need 32" hehe. I do admit that 27" would fit my current setup better but I could always buy a bigger desk right? 😃 Plus I actually sit further away from my desk as I use a keyboard tray.
@@iknowmyname7 OLED's average is 600 nits. Phillips is planning a 1000 nit OLED TV. That is very good for handling reflections and combine that with the fact that the PC environment is more flexible with window shutters/shades, movability. The problem is many companies are starting to release OLED monitors at 250-350 nits. That is simply not enough and there are more revolutionary changes happening in the TV market vs monitor.
Nice review of 2023 OLED monitor Chris. This looks like a complete package. Although I personally prefer glossy screen for OLEDs but I get it that it is essential to have a matte screen.
It's not essential if you start using proper brightness unlike most monitors stuck in 1999 with 250 nits and proper anti reflective treatment like on OLED TVs. Monitor companies still think the only way to tackle reflections is with milky paper. This monitor has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Its average brightness performance is more than enough
@@wowitsruss You'll see a lot better black contrasts as well as the colours are crisp and clear. With a matte finish blacks appear more greyish if there's even slightly light hitting the panel and the colours are not as crisp as well. With glossy panel you'll see reflections yes, but if you use the oled panel like it's meant to, in a low lit room, that won't be a problem.
Amazing review! Wanted to ask should I consider this over the LG GP950 or any other 4K monitor Just when I was thinking of buying a 4K Monitor, this launched, I specifically am asking this for PS5 and I only play Call of Duty and Warzone! Plus would you prefer this over the GP 950 for FPS games?.OLED 2023.
27 is a good size if you don't place it too far away. My reason for OLED PC is solely because my eyes are very sensitive at night, LED always has this backlight even at 0 brightness and contrast. Not a fan of the stand with the two 'legs' taking space in front of the monitor
Nice review, thank you. Looks like a great piece of kit from LG. Love the quality of OLED, the burn in risk is being managed well. However, I’d like to see more 3 year warranties, much like Alienware does. That gives a lot more confidence to purchase when you know there will be static elements on screen, gaming or productivity wise.
27 inches is just too small. My PC monitor is 32 inches and I could never go smaller. Even though I don't really play consoles anymore ( I don't know why I bought a PS5 ) my console is hooked up to a 65 inch LG OLED C2.
I know thats going to get skipped over, Same with burn in questions. Though this monitor looks insane. The burn in would be a issue for a desktop monitor and the icons etc. Ya couldn't do it. I had a LG CX and lightly was getting burn in from light use with the pc so that was out of the picture.
as a Odyssay G7 user (27" 2k VA 240hz panel) i just wait for 27" 4k OLED 240hz monitor for me this monitor is really excited monitor but it judt didn't worth to upgrade into it
Great review can't wait to get a 2023 OLED ;) namely this one once Best Buy gets them in stock. Already being a Totaltech customer this covers the burn in issue. Currently use an LG 27GP950 and was wondering if the firmware updates the same just using the on screen controls?
Very cool monitor, would love to try it out but i feel that the 240HZ are kind of "wasted" on a console, it is more of a PC product if i could categorize it, it looks cool though. Also, i think the PS5 dosen't support VRR for 1440p resolution (right now at least) so only a series X/S could really take advantage of it.
@@TheOctopus6991 I just bought Gigabye FI320Q-X 32" 1440P 270 Hz, DP 1.4, HDMI 2.1 x2 and built in KVM (KVM is why I bought it). Pretty good but not great monitor (coming from a 42' LG C2 that was amazing but just to big).
@@TheOctopus6991 i don't i know, i just googled and it said that VRR isn't supported on PS5 for 1440p. You can play games on 120 fps though with HDMI 2.0 using a 1440p monitor, you only need HDMI 2.1 for 4k 120fps. Also 1080p supports VRR and doesnt need HDMI 2.1
I have this on preorder! Hard to tell from the video, but hoping the anti-glare coating isn’t too bad. LG’s seem to have a different/thicker coating than the Asus’. Going to give this a try.
Wow you got it already!!! I can’t wait to buy this for myself later this year, right now I have a LG 27inch 1440p 165hz monitor and I have been very happy with tht but can’t wait to upgrade to this oled monitor
27" size in 2023 is the size minimum id want in 2023 even with the flashy tech, we just live in a world of 32" and Ultrawides / Super Ultrawides now and have since 2019 ish
any comments on how clear text is on a windows machine? i hear Oled can struggle with displaying clear text. thanks for the video Edit: just noticed the comment you made but looks like that was a Mac. would it be any different to Windows? also is this available in the UK yet
It looks and sounds like an amazing monitor, but the lack of 4K does have me skeptical. I’ll probably come off of that hangup when I’m looking for a monitor for my future setup. Awesome video!
@@csch92 very fair point. I don’t have any experience with monitors made strictly for gaming, so this would probably be the perfect one for me. Probably wouldn’t even notice 1440p, especially for FPS
@@iAmJACpot as a monitor, 1440p blows on a 27". A lot of people with their shit eye sight are going to disagree with me on this, but the ppi on a 1440p 27" isn't there
2023 OLED! As expected, this looks stunning. Even though I agree that 1440P at this size is perfectly fine (and the fact you’re only really gonna be playing CoD on it), I do feel that the lack of 4K will put a lot of people off. Myself included if I’m honest. I was gonna opt for this over the 32GQ950 but as you know, I’ve wanted to go back to 32” for some time now, especially after trying yours out. When a 4K 32” OLED becomes available, I’ll be all over it 110%
“2023 OLED” Love the videos you create keep up the great work!!!….. Could you do a comparison video between the LG C2 42 vs the 27 GR95QE just like how you did with the gp950 a while back.. thanks if you can
2023 OLED. @spawnpoiint, do you prefer this or the GQ950 for productivity? I imagine you prefer this for gaming but just wondering as I still have time to return my GQ950 and maybe switch to this, but for productivity, I think the bigger screen and 4k are great on the GQ950 😵💫.. and I already have the LG CX oled if i want all that contrast and benefits of oled when playing single player games.
I was waiting for this video!!!!! Thank you for the amazing review! Happy New Year!!! Its ashame they put the anti-glare over it. It looks a bit glossy and ruins the beauty of it, But still a beast
If they can make this at 32" 4K and still retain the 240Hz refresh rate and all the other gaming features + glossy coating... then I'll pre-order... No reason for me right now to upgrade since I currently own an Odyssey Neo G8 which is still really good for gaming. I also own a 77" LG C2 OLED TV and the glossy coating just looks much better on OLEDs...
Quite an impressive monitor, the only complaint that I have with it is the lack of 4K resolution. I know at some point in 2023 a 4K variant will be released, so I would rather hold off purchasing until that model is released.
Right now I use a C1 OLED tv with a 4090 pc and a PS5 and this is exactly what I wanted, 1440P high refresh rate, what ruins it though is the anti glare finish and it's a deal breaker for me. I hope LG make one that has the same finish as their TV's. Luckily there are many more OLED and QD Oled monitors coming so am in no hurry, it's just a shame as this had the potential to be exactly what I was looking for.
@@dn3043 Probably not at all to a lot of people. For me it ruins that deep contrast and muddles the colors. In some ways like smearing a very thin layer of vaseline on your oled TV
