Even when it was working, it looked like cheap bullshit. People don't want talking clutter in their living space. At least Alexa, Google, and the new Siri speaker serve a basic function to play music. Cloi is a giant eye-sore that has a slower basic function than if you were to just press a few buttons on your phone. The only way AI can become the future is when the AI assistant starts taking initiative. The AI will start talking to you, not the other way around.
osef that was my thought... This sounds like the start to every AI futuristic horror film i've ever watched... Eventually it becomes self aware and must exterminate humanity too maintain its primary function of keeping your weekly calendar clear of meaningless meetings. *edit spelling
Have you been involved in any aspect of tech-related product development (not flaming just asking)? Just look into the story of the iPhone's unveil (it's here on RU-vid) you'll see how last minute and fragile stuff is just to meet the presentation's deadline.
I think a fridge should be simply be the best *fridge* it can be! If it can be smart and let me know what's inside, what's running low, and when things expire, sure, that's cool! I think it would even be awesome if it could automatically create shopping lists for me based on what's running out. But LG is like nooo... 18" smart-home controlling touch screen. Probably with a weird UI. And features few people will ever use.
Google seems to be way ahead. Maybe so far ahead we should all just accept google as the winner when it comes to voice recognition and voice gestures. Alexa is awful (I own an Amazon Echo and it’s awful at finding music on Spotify if I’m vague). Classical music = Christmas music. Thanks Alexa. It only works with saying the artists name I find. Siri is good and I like it BUT Apple Maps is way behind Google Maps. Apple is also not as knowledgable or as good as conversations. Bixby. Never used and don’t care.
Cloi may cause drowsiness and boredom do not use Cloi if you are on antidepressants or a tight schedule some users may experience dizziness or confusion talk to your refrigerator immediately if you experience these or other symptoms.
There’s something odd about a high tech, futuristic robot serving you.....a newspaper? 🧐 Presumably you already have a smartphone, tablet, smart TV or other device already serving you up customized news.
LeBeautiful A colour look-up table (CLUT) is a mechanism used to transform a range of input colours into another range of colours. The range of colors has gone up by 731% not the color gamut itself, the tv still uses (sRGB and DCI-P3) an Increase to the gamut directly by that much would put this tv is the ProPhoto RGB spectrum which would produce entirely new colors our eye can’t even detect.
Michaël Bonnet Why? They really do make some of the best and most innovative products. Their stuff are actually useful and helpful while some manufacturers launch a bunch of useless gimicky things no one really uses.
LG is creepy and boring. The answer is NOT relying on tech more so we become so reliant on it, we get in a car feeling drowsy anyway. It's eating healthy and feeling rested.
It's like the infomercial where people are uncharacteristically clumsy. Turns out that these items are actually for the disabled or the incapable people. Same goes for smart everything. It's perhaps to assist people who aren't capable like old people, the disabled and children.
Kind of a fail Also I think smart appliances are a ways off from actually being useful 90 percent of smart appliances take longer to use with your voice and phone over just Turning on the oven or humidifier yourself And the cost is like 3 times that of a normal one
Wes Baugher I would be interested in smart shades for Windows that automatically shut if the sun is glaring towards it so you never have the sun blinding you lol or they automatically shut after sunset and open up during sunrise
Jules A except cloi was product failure, face id didn’t fail on stage it did what it was supposed to do which is disable and ask for the passcode after too many failed attempts which occurred before that specific phone went up on stage. So that iPhone was already locked out before it went up on stage
I feel like they are losing their vision. The solution to life isn’t simply making more and more “smart” devices. It’s how they are presented and incorporated into your daily lives that makes the difference.
jalene150 yea none of these things they presented added convenience or would add to my life in a meaningful way. They’re just clumsy and take longer than me just doing whatever it is I asked. I don’t need a robot to tell me my schedule, I can literally open my phone which takes
thinkfloyd312 well they’re right that AI is the future but their head is in the wrong place. You’re right, we don’t need robots, but AI can add a lot of convenience to your life. Just not the way LG is envisioning it, their vision is clumsy and unproductive
Wow, this was horrible. So a breakdown: ThinQ is a name and nothing more. Cloi is another home asistent probably at the level of siri in 2011 (maybe not even that). Also those bots are horrifying. If there isn't a massive killer feature there, I pronounce it dead already. TVs... o boi. That was basically a presentation of which settings I need to disable when I get an LG-TV. I'd rather have some response times presented there, that would be a unique feature actually useful for interactive content which other TV's don't have. The concept robots... actually, they are the highlight. I'm not the target for buying one of them but I could imagine being at a hotel and have one carry my stuff. Would be a novel experience.
LG makes technologies for cars.. One of them is their hybric technologies.. where the car manufacturer will buy from them and put it at their cars.. kinda how Iphone X use Samsung OLED Display..
