in this video, I share both my SDR gaming picture settings for the LG C1, as well as my audio gaming settings. Timestamps: Sub-menu picture settings: 0:42 Game optimizer settings: 15:05 Sound settings: 19:56
Great video. You're always detailed and thorough to where even a person that doesn't know anything about televisions could follow and understand. I'd be quite interested of your thoughts on gaming on your Samsung Qn90a. I know that it's alot bigger but I'm still thinking about getting the 2022 50inch this year. I've narrowed it down to the LG C2 48inch, the Samsung 50inch, or the new Asus 48inch with the heatsink that's dropping this year.
Very useful and informative video. I was happy to find that most of my settings were similar to yours so only did a few changes. One thing I didn't notice any difference on was changing the HDMI input for my Xbox to PC. If there is any difference to the colour fidelity then it's very minor.
Praying this vid sorts out my audio issues thanks man. Just got my C1 and ended up big sad with the sound, Cyberpunk has this horrific distortion type sound and the sound generally sounds off (only in games, in a sound test or in videos it's perfect so don't think it's a factory fault. UPDATE: IT WORKED!!! Man digitally fist bumping/high fiving/hugging you!!! You saved my TV!!!! I was proper heart broken yesterday.
Great vid mate.. I know you aren't getting Atmos from a TV set with 2 speakers but I would encourage peeps to check out the different options as I find that Bitstream and ATMOS sound the best on the LG C1 with the Xbox Series X. You lose some weight to the sound with stereo uncompressed. Best test is using Modern Warfare. Go into audio settings and try out the options on both PCM stereo and Bitstream Atmos
I have found the OLED Brightness being maxed doesn't wash out the colors, but Screen Brightness most certainly will and does if raised or lowered too much.
Awesome videos Bro keep them coming💪🏻 Also quick question I also have an LG C1 TV and I have a PS5 in my room can this same settings be use for my PS5 or are this settings specific for PC only? Also you did an HDR settings video a while ago as well and I just want to make sure if I’m able to use those same settings as well for my PS5 to not just PC and thank you for your time much appreciated as well👍🏻
These settings were a lifesaver dying light 2 what doesn’t have HDR for some weird reason is so dark by default I was using HDTVTESTS settings and it was still very dark and you couldn’t see shit your settings make it a lot better
If you adjust the settings in game mode and then later on want to watch tv or a movie will it automatically switch back to default best colors etc? It's hard to explain what i'm trying to say. Will your saved settings outside and inside of game mode be saved and switch back and forth automatically. Or will adjusting the settings like in this video affect both in video and out of video game mode?
This might sound like a dumb question, but how do I tell if my PS5 game is running SDR or HDR? Is it simply the lack of the HDR icon coming on immediately, or will the game optimizer quick menu showcase it? I'd like to try having that reduced OLED pixel brightness on SDR, but I don't want to mess up and reduce it for the HDR by accident.
if you bring up picture settings (like whether you choose game optimizer, cinema, standard etc.), the C1 will say "HDR picture mode" in front of whatever setting you're using if in HDR..
Thanks for your explaining and complete video. I’m considering buying an LG 55C2 (or the special series CS with C1 panel at good price), yet i feel a bit scared because through my web research i found people complaining that LG tvs are too dim for SDR gaming (as a result of peak brightness beeing grayed out). Maybe switching the input to PC mode has it bettered… My actual tv is a Sony AF8 with peak brighntess set to HIGH and brightness set to 23 (on 50) targetting 150 nits (not at full screen) I play mostly on my Nintendo Switch rather than my XSX or PS5. From your video i guess everything will be fine ? (If not i should consider a Sony Oled TV but it will be more expensive and would have only 1 hdmi 2.1 port for my new gen consoles -the second being eARC - and i don’t wan’t to bother with an hdmi splitter) Thanks in advance if you can reassure me 😉
SDR gaming is certainly dimmer than HDR gaming on the C2. That said, I dont play any games in SDR. Pretty much any game worth its salt these days will be HDR. Even so, on the rare occasion that i do play in SDR, I personally dont have any issues. If you plan on playing a lot of bright games in SDR though, there are likely better options.
Question . So sometimes I like to use my ps5 using tv audio and my headset sometimes . So every-time I wana switch do I have to keep switicng pcm and bitstream ?
You shouldn't have to bother switching if you are using a stereo headset. If you were using some sort of surround set headset that required bitstream though, then yes, you may have to. Honestly, if that's the case, Id just set your hdmi input to bitstream and leave it there. Most people would be hard pressed to hear a difference between pcm and bitstream.
Question. I have my xbox and bluray player hooked up to receiver then receiver going to TV. If I set the input to pc will it negatively affect the bluray movie playback?
negatively? No, i dont think so. Though, blu rays are chroma 420 and PC mode allows for 444...so im not sure if the TV would upscale the chroma to match 444. If so, that could introduce some minor quantization noise, but I highly doubt it. You're likely just fine.
Thanks for the video! But i'm still a little confuse regarding Audio settings + PS5. Selecting dolby Atmos from the TV and Dolby on PS5 (with TV speakers only) could be a better solution? I mean the TV let us to select Dolby Atmos even without an external audio receiver, so maybe that feature gives some "virtualization" of the surround sound and on the PS5 side using Dolby can be a good mix? Or in any case, because the TV has only two speakers it will be always better set in both sides all to PCM?
you can use dolby, and as you say, the TV will synthesize or virtualize dolby vision from its two internal speakers - its just fake is all. I just go with pcm as that is raw stereo audio and matches well with the tv's stereo configuration. Of course, if you are using surround sound with your PS5, you would not want to use pcm.
@@steadychaosproductions3376 I'm using the TV with its own speakers now, so your suggestion is to use PCM at the end with PS5, taking advantage from the 3D Audio feature of the console maybe. Thank you :)
Hi, great video 👍 a quick question, I have the Xbox series X and the PS5. On the game optimiser menu and at the bottom where it says input. Does it make a difference if I have both VVR & G-Sync and AMD Freesync Premium on?? Or should I just have AMD Freesync on and VRR off like you said?
Sorry So if I’ve got both consoles ps5 and Xbox series X. Should I leave the VRR & G-Sync ticked and also the AMD Freesync Premium ticked?? Because when I play ps5 these are both ticked and when I play Xbox these are both ticked. Is that ok?
If iam not watching a movie I just set mine to energy saving medium......it may save the panel it still looks better then any led! it may be a bit dim but the detail on the c1 is just better then anything on the 2021 market.
Nice video I was looking for a couple of tips for brightening slightly for fps .Shouldnt you use hgig for gamma so the tv and cobaole are not double tone mapping.
You lost a lot of weight ? Looking good. Using c1 myself too. Great display. I think on ps5, console mode is still worth using over pc mode. Sharpness I leave at 10 - I noticed it only affects sub 4k resolutions. if you launch up something in 1080p and switch sharpness 10 to 0 you will see jaggies appearing. 10 is actually smoother than 0 lol but I personally like how it looks on 10. one more thing - the audio mode switches back to game optimizer on every pc restart. It's still annoying as it was last year. cinema sound so much better
Yeah, I was getting kinda fat and my doctor told me to get that under control, haha. I agree with you certainly about the sound mode; it's a well known glitch the C1 always seems to revert back to game optimizer sound mode. You would think LG would have fixed this by now. Regarding PC mode: Wouldn't you want chroma 444 for your games on PS5 though?
@@steadychaosproductions3376 I checked and ps5 and the green button info menu on c1 show RGB 12b 4L8 both in console and pc input. It changed to yuv422 only when I start 120fps game
@@HiCZoK My understanding is that information can often be incorrect. Based on everything I've read and researched, the only way to properly render full chroma on the C1 is to engage PC mode.
that's honestly a great question, it is possible I suppose given the TV has to do extra processing. But, since the processing is relatively minor and audio related, any additional latency would be negligible.
I don’t understand when you Say SDR mode Because is not Exist a SDR mode in tv menu. What you are doing in tv’s game mode aplays on HDR or SDR games the same. Can you explain that to me please?
Hi SteadyChaos,i have another question about my Lg C1 Oled,in the aspect ratio, what can i put,i'm confused 16:9 original 4:3...i put 16:9 but i'm not sure
Hi SteadyChaos thanks for your videos and sorry for my bad english,i'm a french guy come from Montreal loll,do you have a good video for the best settings lg oled c1 for movies and series netflix and watch sdr contain with mr provider
Thank you. What about the HDR settings in the xbox menu? Should i go to the menu turn HGIG on and do exactly what you can see on the menu or something else? Some people say that at the blacklevel i should go down till the checkerboard is gone some people say that you should go till it almost gone. Thank you.
Yes, calibrate in HGiG always, and if you have an oled, I would go all the way down for black level. However, if you notice you have black crush, Id go until the logo is just barely visible. I made a video on this topic if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z17PS8N0cCQ.html
@@steadychaosproductions3376 Thank you very much. I got a LG C1 i watched so many videos about calibration and did the exact settings but the games still looks washed out and not sharp enought and the colours have not enought contrast. I have the series s. I don't know what i can do against this. But thank you.
@@nocolourtopaint7396 Try bumping color to 60, engaging dynamic tone mapping, and make sure you have hdmi deep color set to "4K" in the LG C1 settings. The thing about the XSS is it doesnt do 4K res...generally only 1080p or 1440p...so that causes the C1 to have to upscale, which can make the image a little less sharp than it would otherwise be in 4k
@@steadychaosproductions3376 Ah thank you very much. :) Yeah i will get a PS5 later. I had a PS5 before but the console need more games. I will wait till the PS5 have enought games. Thank you. :)
hello great your explanation I'm already on your channel without a doubt thank you, now I'll ask you something, in PC mode lower the graph, I'm more than the graph thank you
Well, if you don't have a GPU with 40 Gbps HDMI port, that is HDMI 2.1 at this case, and set your TV at 120 Hertz on 4K you're still gonna get some form of sub sampling 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 reduced color even after enabling HDMI Deep Colour.
I just connected the LG's Optical (audio) 'out' cable into my Home Theater surround AV Receiver but i'm not getting a 'Dolby Digital' signal detected on my AV Receiver (which it definitely SHOULD be), what am I doing wrong?
what is your source? Optical coming from TV? Im guessing youre going to have to set the source to play optical out. Oh, duh, just reread, you are using the opt out from your LG TV. Go into the TV's settings and set up audio for optical only.
@@steadychaosproductions3376 Yes I chose the option 'Optical out' from my LG TV, so there must be more to it than just 'choosing' the Optical out option. From what they guys at LG Support told me, I still have to select either 'Auto' or 'Digital Out' from the Sound Out menu....which I'll have to look alittle harder for 😄
@@steadychaosproductions3376 It's extremely frustrating and baffling cuz after I selected the LG TV to use 'Optical Out', I did NOT get the expected 'Dolby DIgital' sound from my AV Receiver....my AV Receiver ONLY detected 'Dolby ProLogic' signal....doesn't make any sense.
@@steadychaosproductions3376 yes I'm using an 8k cable I got it working just had to change between hdmi deep colour 4k and test the sound options under my pc sound options a few times and run tests
Does anybody know how to get picture icon back when I press settings button. I had it but then Move/delete show up and accidentially i pressed delete and icon is now going for picture Anyone knows how to get it back
So i played with settings almost 14 days and stay for SDR in Expert Dark setting for watching Anime and for games I didn't put Ps5 to Pc mode because Ps5 will not do 444 anyway but I have questions when I set black level to AUTO it will make games run in FULL BLACK LEVEL it is okay many people's say to put it on limited others to not I really don't know
PS5 will run in full RGB/444 mode assuming resolution is 4K and framerate is 60 or below, hence full black level. PS5 will dip to 422 chroma subsampling at 4K with any frame rates above 60, hence limited. Just keep it at auto.
Minute: 15:30, you’re talking about game genre in game optimizer mode, and you said what I’ve really believed myself the whole time too, and it seemd like it in the beginning, but the other day, i booted up forza, and changed genre mode from standard to rpg, etc, using the saaame settings on all filters. The colors change.. they really do, on standard black is on 11 white is on 2( like ur settings from another video) and rpg mode same, 11,2. on rpg mode i get richer colors. Red is more red, etc. can you double check, please ? Thanks, bro
Great 👍 video buddy useful tips thank you .. I'm getting ghosting on a few game Hell Let Loose and my son farming simulator 22 on his xbox series x got a brand new LG C1 but have found ghosting on both these games any idea please or could it just be the games I am using the hdmi what came with the xbox 2.1 cable
that's one thing you should not be having as oled has instantaneous pixel response times. Make sure you are in game optimizer mode and make sure "Trumotion" is off.
@@steadychaosproductions3376 its in optimizer mode and the true montion is off Di you think I should return the TV back and tell them I'm getting ghosting on the TV as this TV should handle all that . One of my friends I play online with has the same TV but no issues what so ever
@@Ghost44681 Motion blur is not something i notice, but it could be that i am used to how oled looks. That said, motion blur can still be an issue on oled TVs due to something called "persistence." See this explanation from Rtings.com: "Since OLED and LED TVs use different technology to display an image, motion looks different on each. OLEDs can turn individual pixels on and off, so they have a near-instantaneous response time, resulting in minimal motion blur. However, OLEDs can also suffer from motion from persistence blur, known as MPRT, which is caused by pixels staying on the screen for too long because the response time is so quick. OLEDs will always have a quicker response time than LED TVs; below is the quickest LED TV we've tested. Although the response time is much quicker on the LG, motion looks the same between the two TVs."
@@Ghost44681 so, in other words, i think your TV is prb fine. That said, if it is really, really bothering you, its worth trying an exchange for a new one.

@@steadychaosproductions3376 Me too man! I really want one for my small bed room. I bought the lg cx 55 and it didn't fit so its in my moms larger bedroom. I can't wait for the release!
I have tried a zillion times, but still feel that 2.4 gamma looks the best on my C1. The image looks the most “normal” and not washed out and shadow detail that seems to be visable in 2.2 is I think not made to be visable. When I test with Mario Kart 8 it is very obvious that 2.4 or bt is the way to go.
Bt1886 also looks best to me, maybe because I set it to that and got used to it. BT1886 or 2.4 are supposedly best for dark room viewing and movies. However the consensus seems to be that most video games are mastered at 2.2 gamma. Also if theres any light in your room 2.2 will work better. I still cant decide lol
