This video fails to also let everyone know that the so called wonderful LG smart interface dashboard and tiles "CANNOT" be disabled. It pops up every time you turn the TV on or attempt change HDMI inputs. They disabled the ability to turn it off with recent the last couple software updates they push to unsuspecting customers via the internet or WiFi
They did this to the 2016 LG OLED as well, i connected my tv to wifi for the first time and now i cant get rid of all the tiles that pop up, its annoying and i wish i never connected my tv to wifi.
@@CRF250R1521UPDATE: I found the solution!!! Some background: I have a really nice AVR with ten HDMI ports with its assortment of picture quality and sound enhancements. I simply wanted a nice high end dumb TV for its OLED display goodness. Enter my LG C3 and it's pain-in-the-butt WebOS dashboard that insists on taking charge of your viewing control and constantly popping up its WebOS interface tiles. After much research, I discovered it was LG's CEC interface that practically insists you use the included LG magic remote for all your devices. NET: Every time I turned the set on or tried to change a input (tuner, bluray player, Roku,etc) the TV was detected the microsecond pauses between HDMI input changes as a signal loss (i.e. dropped signal) and would jump to the LG default HDMI port rather than the one I wanted. I tried turning CEC off... but it keeps turning itself back on. The solution: I went to Amazon and picked up a "BlueRigger HDMI CEC Less Adapter: - plugged it into HDMI1 on the TV ... then plugged the output HDMI feed from my AVR into the CEC Less Adapter. NET: I can now turn the TV on via my universal remote or use my AVR remote to switch to whatever piece of equipment I want to use without LG's smart TV home hub taking over. No more pop ups or interruptions. Even better, if i turn off an active piece of equipment displaying on screen... the display just goes to a gray screen (no tiles, no OS, no smart TV popup... so I no longer need to pick up the Magic remote! On another note...subject of LG updating your TV over WiFi and screwing up your set... be aware "even" if you have Auto-Update set to OFF ... if LG deems an update as important... they can "push it" (and install it) via your internet connection (hardware of WiFi) To help prevent this from happening in the future, go into the settings for the router on your home network and block the following three addresses: ( address=/su.lge.com) - (address=/snu.lge.com) - (address=/su-ssl.lge.com) and last... search your router and find the section where it identifies the IP addresses of all your network connected devices > Find your TV > and then block that IP address.
you can only barely argue that the qm8 is a better tv because of the brightness difference at a lower price but there is no brand as reliable as lg at lgs price poibt
