This video is critical of the C series, but I don't want you to see it as an attack on LG or that I hate LG products. That could be further from the truth I am a fan of TVs in general. I own 2 LG OLED TVs one of them is my go to computer monitor, if your familiar with my channel you know the G3 was one of my highest rated TVs last year and I rated it as my 2nd best TV for movies. The G4 was also one of my favorite TVs I saw at CES 2024. However we can't pretend like QD-OLED isn't the same price as the C series right now. This why I wanted MLA to come to the C series just like you to bring more competition to Samsung and when the A11 was rumored I thought this could help the C4 but again I was disapointed to hear when it was announced it was just for the G series, I too felt like LG was missing the mark and that this choice was forcing people to look at setting their sites on the G4. Just want to be clear, that all I want is more competition in that mid level price range where the C series sits and my goal is just overall better products at the end of the day.

I dont think LG have any plans to put the MLA on the C4 tbh with you but maybe in the future they will. Hoping that they will also add it to the C series. They did talk about that the C4 is getting an upgrade with brightness and their A9 also getting an upgrade with 144hz support for gaming. I still see this C4 being very competitive against the S90D since it has NVIDIA G-SYNC, Dolby Vision, and a much better UI in my opinion. 2024 will be an interesting year for Televisions.

They could have at least put a low grade heatsink system to the C series. I fear eventually they will move to matte or semi gloss for the lower tiers and focus everything on the G series moving forward

fully agree with you mate. always bought the c models. but last year the difference between c3 and g3 to much. also a scam that they skipped this year one generation processing. if i know that i dont have bought the lg g3 last year. because normally only one generation up. from a9 to a10. now from a9 to a11. what do you advice me. keep my lg g3 77 inch for one year longer. and buy the lg g5 next year? is the difference big between the lg g3 and g4 ? i can exchange my lg g3 77 inch for the lg g4 77 inch. must paid 2249 euro then. what you advice me mate?

@@jantjedewaal No doubt do this if you're willing to trade money for a reasonably good HDR tone mapping & better display brightness, new video processor and game improvements, but I think you'd better skip this year and sell it to someone who'll give you good money, then ad extra 2249 Euro to get 83 "G5 or G6 😉👍

I bought the Samsung QN90C and returned it and bought the LG C2 and I'm much happier with the color accuracy. I think another factor is that one of the most popular sizes for the c series is their smaller 48 and 42 inch sizes as people would use them as monitors. However in recent times really good OLED monitors have shown up which are even smaller and (usually) cheaper. In fact some of them are even 4K 32 inch QD OLEDs with high refresh rates. So most people would obviously lean towards the monitors now

I totally agree. LG should have launched the C4 with the first generation MLA at least. Access to the best technology at more affordable price is key for competing in a market where QD oled and mini LED are showing off in the sub premium segment.
@ricarmig
@ricarmig 5 месяцев назад
The thing is, they NEED to decrease prices and set the C series as lower end mini LED TVs and they also need to increase the gap to the MLA series. If the C series are too near the G series, people will go C series as a budget G series. All in all, OLED manufacturing came a long way and they can cheaply produce the standard panels, so they need to step down with the C series in size and price.

Great video KG I tend to agree with you about this topic regarding the LG C4. This C series needs much more improvements to compete with the other OLED technology that has taken over the spotlight. I think they need more then just the G4 to stay afloat. You really nailed it on the head with your thoughts and comments. The one thing I like that they did for the G4 is give you the option of wall mounting or a stand. If I decide this year to go for a G4 I will try to get one with a stand. Or I might hold off until. 2025 for the 4000 nit version of the G4.😊

@@TheAntifluencer this is not a ranking of tvs. That ranking list would look totally different. This is A LIST of tvs that are objectively better than the C4 will be (if there will be no new processor or MLA in the C4). My point was, the C series was a top of the line tv series from at least 2019 (or even before that) to 2022. Then QD-OLED came. And mini-led got better. And other tvs got 4 HDMI 2.1... For the C series 2023 (and even more 2024) was a year it fell behind the competition. If the C4 will stay (almost) the same as the C3, then LG needs to lower prices. Like 20% or more.

Totally agree, even after 10+ years of manufacturing OLED panels costs should have gone down drastically but LG decided to keep niche instead of making it a product for masses. I see even 42inch OLEDs just $200 or 10% around less than 55inch OLED which is just loot for enthusiasts who wanted 4K OLED monitors for Gaming/Desktop. Samsung S90C and S95C is almost 35-40% cheaper here than C3 and G3 which says alot. On top of it LG wasnt innovating enough in terms of OLED brightness until QD-OLEDs threatened them then they came up with MLA. The C3 price range has become like high end top of the line while its performance is still 2nd or 3rd compared to competition as well as LG G3 itself. Some LG A3 series costs same as 144hz mini leds from Hisense TCL etc.

I picked up the C4 48 inch to upgrade my Sony 900E computer monitor. This one doesn't get as bright as the 55 and above. I think it's rated between 775-800 nits which is ok. I don't need a bright image blasting me in my face while I'm working 3 feet from my screen. I wanted the 42 inch, but the 42 cost exactly the same as my 48 inch. I didn't think it made sense, especially since I have the space for it. In terms of performance, created a bunch of custom resolutions with 144hz. The TV does 120 hz native, but not 144. I had to enable 144hz boost, and create the customer resolution to see it. Is 144hz from 120hz a big deal? No, not at all, hard press to tell the difference. I also have a 166 hz LG 1440P 32 inch monitor and it's hard to tell the difference between 166 and 120hz. You have to zoom and study an edge, or focus strictly on certain movement. To be honest, 100 hz is all you need as it feels better than 60, you can tell by the motion and controls it's higher than 60. But from 100-166, you have to look for it, and if you have to look for it, it's not a big deal. In terms of my experience, I mostly use Cinema for media playback with my customization. For work, I'm using standard with the OLED light and black levels turned down to the 30s. It's still plenty of bright for work without searing my eyes. For games, it's game optimizer or cinema. Was this the TV I wanted? No, I wanted a 48 inch version of Hisense UN8, but it never came out. Is this better than my Sony 900E? Absolutely, it blows the doors off the 900E in image quality and smoothness. The Sony 900E was limited to 1080P 120 hz. Now you could do a custom resolution and maybe get 80-90 hz at 1270P. However I wanted 1440P or higher at 120hz. For the record you absolutely can tell the difference between 4K and 1440P, even on a native 1440P screen. I also prefer gloss or matt displays.

I've been an avid OLED guy since I got my 55" LG C1 a few years back. It was a lifechanging TV. I've moved apartments since then and need a 65" as the 55" inch is just a tad too small for the room. Honestly, I can't justify the cost of the LG C3 here in Canada. Budget mini-LEDs are like 75% of the way there. I can get a 75" Hisense U8K for less than it costs me to get a 65" LG C3. The Hisense still has deep blacks, and is MUCH brighter. The C3 is undoubtably the better TV still, but is it so much better that I'd spend MORE on a smaller size? No. The other issue is the fact that even in the OLED realm, LG doesn't have a huge advantage anymore. Samsung's QD-OLEDs are priced around the same and at least to me, look better. The C3 still has better dark room performance, and personally I trust LGs QC a lot more than Samsung's, but the reality is my living room isn't going to be pitch black all the time and QD-OLED performs better in bright room conditions. Where I am, the S90C is pretty much the same price as the C3.

Personally, the C3/4 are trying to be the Everyman offering of televisions but at a price bracket too high. I’m wondering if LG have the same faith in the C series than all their efforts they’re putting into the G series? Let’s be honest. If I was going to replace my LG CX (still a great tele for my needs), I’d have to actively consider a QD-OLED screen due to its better overall image quality. I’m also thinking about the longevity of WOLED technology. Let’s not beat about the bush here, it’s now in its 11th year of production and I’m wondering about how much more they can effectively do with the technology to at least keep up with other technologies. I’m aware that Sony will introduce Mini-LED televisions as their flagship models potentially this year, QD-OLED seems to be going from strength to strength, the the likes of Hisense and TCL developing great televisions at good prices. I’m also minded, should the technology prove to be effective, self-emissive OLED from Sharp’s R&D studio could be the spiritual heir to WOLED into the future. Interesting times, and thank you for the video.

I think it's partly because LG Display is seriously lagging behind in panel advancement. Their EX panel remains the same for the 3rd year, and Meta panel (MLA) is way overpriced. This makes C series gradually become mediocre over the years when other panels like QD-OLED or high end miniLED starts to catch up or even surpass it. Sony A80 series are on the same boat as well.

I bought the LG-C3 77 inch Oled TV about a week ago at $2,299 at Costco with a 5-year warranty I feel is a great price. I returned a Samsung 8K model 850 that cost me $3,999 that had awful processing compared to the LG-C-3 4K tv. If you go to Rtings for reviews regarding Samsung 8k TV's you will notice they do not hit a overall 9 out of 10 rating for their price. If you love movies and want great processing the LG C-3 for 2023 runs rings around Samsung in general. And yes, it has Dolby Vision for movie purist. To be fair for 2024 I have read that Samsung will be working extra hard in the image processing for their 8k line. This remains to be seen when respectable reviews by Rtings might get published.

I opted to buy a mini LED TV, because LG came short on its C-Series OLED TV. To be honest, LG has dominated the market, and is taking advantage of being recognized as such. But, as many before it, when you take your place for granted, and stop innovating, you may lose your place. I love LG, but I rather see it fall in order for it to learn; than continuing to see this disregard for us - the consumers, who pay for this expensive TVs. Great video, man! My prediction is LG are locked into nerfing the C to make G series seems better; its desperation in the face of QDOLED. Next year blue pholed should be in mass production, C5 will get MLA, the G series will get new blues and relaxed ABL/higher HDR peak nits; color volume will increase for the first time in a while and wash out will happen at much higher brightness. I still think QDOLED will win, I see them side by side and its just too noticable. For games I think LG is coasting by on pre qdoled rep, their SDR brightness is poor unless you force peak brightness back on through software.

The fanaticism with which LG gamers defend LG Oleds is baffling. When I see a Sony and a LG in any side-by-side comparison, the Sony is always much clearer and detailed. It's like looking at performance and quality mode in some games. I think the MLA panel has increased detail, not only brightness, for the G series so it can hang out with Sony TVs. In some cases, the G3 may even have more detail as we've seen in comparisons which never really happened before especially against the XR clear processor. The G series is really distancing itself from the C series.

In a way it's LG's inability as the main mover of the OLED to come up with cheaper and bigger panels that have given a second wind to the mini-LED movement! If Hisense can finally put their many zones to good use, the U8n could very well be a monster while at Sony, they're ready to make a statement this year with their new driver and algorithm. I know many potential OLED buyers who compared the seemingly dimmer C3 with G3, checked the later's price-tag disapprovingly and went home happily with a 75" X90L! The advocates of OLEDs often forget that for most, the penchant for inky black is an acquired taste - size and price still moves the needle when the picture quality is "good enough". I believe 2024 might be the good enough year for mini-LEDs!

But let's be realistic here, Samsung literally just started manufacturing their own OLED TVS, compared to LGS 10-plus years of OLED experience! People need to keep it real and stop lying and just chill with all the fake hype..Samsung is new with making OLED TVS, so yes, i get why theirs so much hype surrounding the new panels..It's a shiny new toy and it's pretty good! Not gonna lie and it gives us consumers more options and it makes for great competition..LG gets those awards, though, because they are the OLED kings. I have never seen a better picture in my life! I've tried so many different TVS/Monitors and LG is hands down the best OLED manufacturer in the business! They don't really have to do much to their panels because they are legit already that damn good. My LG C2 and the LG C3 are absolutely incredible! Would highly recommend that people just go for an LG OLED and never look back. You definitely won't regret it! LG is the OLED king 🤴 🙌
