I clicked on your video hoping to troubleshoot but ended up calling LG and I was two months away from five years and they were able to give me the 5 year warranty! Thank you so much! You saved me lots of stress and money!

Man, I am so glad I found this video. I fixed my 8 year old fridge the same way. I called LG and found out my they extended the warranty for my model to 10 years. I got the guys out to repair the problem and I'm back in business. Now, it wasn't a free repair. You will pay for the labor. My labor cost was $450.00 but, I got bids of almost $1000.00 for labor. In Vegas, you have to be aware a nice banner add doesn't always equate to the best service or price. I had to repair a leak in my water pipe from the street to the house and this company named "YES" quoted a price of $9000.00. But I digress. I didn't have to pay for the compressor and today, I'm back in business.Thanks again for this video.

After trying various channels to get my LG refrigerator repaired, I came across this video. Result? GREAT! LG send a technician and he replaced the compressor. Saved me $1300+. Thank you

I want to thank you for making this video. Ours went out and I was browsing videos and came across yours and called LG to check about the extended warranty. They said yes and a week later our fridge is back to working.(everything was covered). Shout out to LG for their great customer service. Thanks again buddy.

Sandi Thanks so much for your video!!!! you fixed my problem!! I bought a brand new LG a little over 2 years ago and it just suddenly stopped making ice, or cooling and the freezer not working. I called LG and got an overseas agent whom I could barely understand. This person told me I am outside of my 1 year warranty and I will have to pay for service. I later that day started searching online for a solution and bumped into your video. It was a life saver!! I did exactly what you said about calling LG and found out I do have a 5 year warranty on parts and labor, as opposed to the 1 year warranty the first person I spoke with told me about. They sent out a ticket order for my fridge to be fixed. Thank you!

Thank you! My fridge stopped working yesterday night. My husband tried to rest it and it didn't work. I was trying to find an appliance repair company but no one was answering their phones. This was PERFECT!! I had tried several of the "fixes" with no luck! But called LG, raised a little hell when they resisted and VOILA! Repairman showed up 2 days later, replaced some big parts and it worked -- FREE! Plus a reimbursement for spoiled food! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Thank you soooo much!!! My LG refrigerator is the exact same model. The freezer failed after about 3.5 years. Thanks to you I called LG and set an appointment for the LG repairman in a couple of days. He replaced the compressor and now good as new.

Even tho this video is two years old, I tried everything as well to see if I can fix it myself. No luck! I called LG customer service and I still had warranty. They are coming out to fix it for free. Today is October 2, 2022 technician will be here on October 5, 2022. Thank You so much for making this video. Saving people lots of $$$

I just called LG today 6/26/21 because my LG Fridge / Freezer stopped cooling yesterday. I talked to a guy named Chris and within 24 minutes I answered all his questions (including Model # & Serial # - which I had taken a picture of this before I called) and they are sending a service technician out to completely fix everything at NO COST to me! It was super simple and painless and my appointment is for Monday, 6/28/21 between 8a-12p. After reading these comments does the fridge have issues for breaking down within it's first 3 years... maybe... but the service was REALLY on point and is getting handled within 3 days. Thank you for posting this video, thanks to you, I followed the same steps with LG customer service. I purchased the same refrigerator in August 2018, and it is clearly stated in the LG website that any LG refrigerators purchased after 1/1/2018 qualify for some parts replacement and the labor included. I was told that my case number was submitted and for the moment, it is pending approval first. I was told from the man on the phone, that it may take up to 5 days to fix the fridge upon case approval. I have been very happy with LG Refrigerators, and washer machines so far, and hope to remain loyal to LG products for as long as the products and customer service keep up with competition out there. Thanks again for taking your time to post this video.

Thank you so much. Call customer service and give them your serial number, no receipt needed. LG covered all costs, I had to pay nothing. They also sent me two checks. One for $200 to cover any food lost and they also sent me a check for $210 to pay for a mini fridge I bought to use while I was waiting for repair.

We had to wait six weeks for repair and they did not pay for food or the minifridge we bought while waiting. That was six months ago and now the freezer isn't working correctly. I won't buy LG again.

@@John-100 We're using a chest freezer while we wait for them to come look at it. The fridge part is working still, so not quite ready to throw another couple of thousand bucks at a new one yet.

So glad I found this video, after cleaning the coil and resetting my fridge did not work, but everything, compressor and fans are good, so now I'm calling LG and give them the information, I hope I can get someone to check it out and maybe get repaired at no cost. Thank you for the tip!

Thanks for this video! Our 2018 LG refrigerator stopped cooling. Like you, I tried a few things to no avail. Came across your video, called LG and they happily extended our warranty to cover both parts and labor. The technician will be here the day after tomorrow. He thinks it needs a new compressor. The compressor has made strange noises since we bought the unit so that makes sense. Thanks again.

Called customer service as suggested. Yes, this is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. You MUST call in and give your Model & Serial # of your unit. They then cross-check eligibility, and update the system. It applies to compressor, parts and labor. I recommend doing this BEFORE your compressor goes out - and IT WILL. Make sure to keep reference number. GREAT FIX! Thank you.

Appreciate the video. I’ve called gone through the lengthy hold time. Now waiting on a call because customer service didn’t know when someone would be available to come out and resolve issue. They said someone would call me in 24-48 hours. I was hopeful but after reading comments elsewhere there are people who have been waiting for months for their refrigerator to be repaired.

Thank you for your video! I spent over a week back and forth online and on the phone with LG... and finally they have agreed to cover all parts and labour on our 2.5 year old LG fridge! There was no talk of a warranty extension - they just said that they will cover all costs to repair our fridge! thanks again!

Thanks for sharing! We really like our LG Fridge, the freezer defrosted and fridge is warm. Did the LG ThinQ App, app said everything was working but the freezer door was open, it definitely was not. We bought ours 11/2016. I’ll call them and give it a try!

Thank you! If I had not seen your video I would have had a repair bill! I contacted LG and they came out the next day and replaced my compressor @ no charge! The tech was very nice and worked hard to finish up. Thank you for sharing!!! No way would I had found out about LG 5 year warranty.

Thanks for the tip! I’m glad I found your video. Was really helpful when ours stopped cooling at 4.5 years. I was hesitant to call LG although our fridge is one of the models listed in the class action lawsuit. I didn’t think LG would be willing to help. But they did! Glad we made it within the 5-year extended warranty period.

Thanks for this video, I saved a lot of money. I called LG customer service and they sent some body and they have to replace many parts, every thing over $1,500 and I did not pay any thing. Reporting back -- 6/17/2021: A&E Factory Service was dispatched by LG. Need a new compressor and evaporator, etc. All costs (parts and labor nearly $700) covered by LG. Also requested a food reimbursement - will receive $150 compensation (not nearly enough to cover the cost of food that needed disposal, but better than nothing) and will arrive in 2-4 weeks. THANK YOU for your video help!

This helped me! I was trying all the trouble shooting tips, none worked. Even bought parts online… then called LG. They instantly extended my warranty, and sent a technician out later in the week who replaced the compressor in about 20 minutes, no cost to me. Anyone with an LG fridge that stops working, call them first, see what they can offer you!

I was looking for a solution when my LG ice maker stopped working recently. I know that many of the comments view frustration, but there are a series of 'checks' in which he goes through. I get it. It was JUST the ice maker. REWIND to when we bought it........ Our LG refrigerator went out during the initial onset of COVID. We lost EVERYTHING in our refrigerator and freezer for a family of five. LG customer service did not care. It was less than 12 months at the time the time of purchase. They sent a technician out and it was the compressor, which I am seeing ALOT in the comments. LG sent me a reimbursement check for the lost food of $150 and I was FLOORED! The meat ALONE in the freezer was MORE than $150, let alone all the refrigerated special spices and herbs. I can now understand WHY there was a class action lawsuit against them. Meanwhile, I have a 30+ year old GE fridge in my garage for overflow, STILL running strong! They don't make them like they used too. I will NEVER purchase another LG 'anything' again!!!! (And my other major appliances are LG too). DONE with LG!!!!!!

Thanks a lot. Mine was 3 year 1 month old. Freeze working but not cooling. Called lg they said covered in warranty. Tech came with new compressor, but found that with new compressor it requires sw update on main control board. Then he called lg support and found that this new compressor requires new control board . They ordered it and came back after 4 days with new control board. So they replaced new compressor new control board and new dryer(not sure what it is). But working now. Thanks a lot

The reset button did work for me. At first, I thought it did not work so I called LG Customer Support. I waited 30 minutes while on hold. The Customer Support was nice enough to offer me the warranty replacement for the compressor without having to raise my voice. (My fridge is exactly 4 yrs new). 3 days later, I called the LG tech guy to cancel the service order because my fridge slowly started cooling within 2 days

Thank you very much!! Not repaired yet as I just called 5/7/22. Called 800# inside Kenmore fridge. Linked fridge to wife’s phone#. Was told no warranty. When I mentioned recall or class action, operator told me my compressor has a 10yr manufacturer warranty! But, I do have to pay $79 for tech to come out & diagnose. Waived if does repair. Will have to pay techs labor. Keep my fingers crossed for a $200 fix(labor) on a $2,500 fridge! I would have never called if it wasn’t for your video! Thank You!

It's funny how he trouble shoots the process - but the true nugget of information was from calling the LG service line. After 45 minutes and two phone calls I found the most important information LG is looking for is that BOTH freezer and fridge are malfunctioning. They won't do anything if one is broken without the other. MUST ask for the five extended warranty they won't give it to you. I did have the receipt and it was 4.5 years old. They are replacing $1300 with parts and labor.

I was set on not paying LG anything to repair a 2.5 year old fridge and planned to hire someone local until I came across this.👍

Make sure your fridge has been plugged in for at least 48 hrs and temps set at 37 for the fridge and 0 for the freezer. I found your video (thank you!) after watching several others about freon charging and circuit board resetting and called LG. The nice young gal had an accent and there were a lot of people talking in the background so I don’t know if it was a work from home situation. She was about to help me troubleshoot but when I told her I had to unplug the fridge because it started making a weird noise (even my cat was scared of it) and why should I keep paying the electricity to run it? She said I should plug it in set at the correct temps and let it run for 48 hrs and then call back to troubleshoot. But judging by all the comments it sure sounds like the compressor. My sweet 90 yr old dad thought it was the compressor but my retired appliance repair uncle thought it was the circuit board. I guess it was a blessing in disguise that no one could agree on the part number for it so I couldn’t order it and some places wouldn’t take it back if I did order because it’s electronic and they have no way to test it to see if it’s going to be resellable🤦🏼‍♀️ Whole fridge and freezer has been broken for 2 weeks so I guess I can wait a few days more. Thankfully I have an extra fridge in the garage. Also LG told me I have a 10 yr warranty on the compressor but everything else is out of my pocket.

LG now has better compressors and better valve.Yesterday the wonderful LG repairman came (Northern Arizona near cottonwood).My 2 year old LG not cooling. Although we had to wait 2 days it looks like the compressor issue mentioned in the video. Looks like i will pay nothing for the new (better designed) compressor. The repairman, Todd, was way better than most workmen. Not just polite but real knowledgeable. He said do pull the machine forward once a year, take the panel off (easy) the outside back of the fridge and clean the side on the right side of the coils. That is where the air flow comes through, if it doesn't do it well the compressor burns out in 2 years (new ones are better). The manual says no need to clean the coils , but it is wrong, they likely don't want a careless owner doing something stupid back there.

PS I will clean the coil side once a year. Also, since we don't like how most ice makers work we turned it off . since we don't use the water, i run 1 quart or 2 through it once a month to keep it ok.He said don't run it for gallons at a time or the valve has a problem, if you take out 2 gallons, give it a break for half hour or something after filling one gallon.

Hey Country Coach Guy. Thank you so much for uploading this video. A good friend of mine has a 1 year new LG fridge that encountered the same issue. We went through all the steps and also took a look at other videos. No, luck. She still had the owners manual and she called LG. They are coming out at no charge to repair the fridge in a couple days. Thanks again - It was a costly repair that was avoided.

So glad I've seen your video. I am having the exact same issue and have been in touch with LG Customer services. Like you, they told me that they would extend my warrentee by 5 years. They also told me 3-5 days before a tech would come to do the repair. Thanks for posting your experience.

Thank you for the VERY helpful video! Our fridge is 4 years old. LG was awesome... they extended my warranty, and had the fridge completely fixed by the next morning! (they replaced the compressor, and some other parts under the fridge). It's running perfect now just one day after seeing your video! THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)

I want to thank you for taking the time to post this video... You saved us a lot of money by posting this. I read all teh comments below, you helped a lot of people including us. I called and LG extneded our warranty for ours for 5 years parts and labor free and 10 years on the compressor free. They are at least taking care of their customers when their product had a flaw. Thats more than most companies usually do. Glad to see it

Thank you sir, just chatted with LG customer service online and they gave me the 5 year warranty as well. We have the same model fridge and got it from Costco in 2017 and Costco was only giving us a 2 year warranty so you def saved us some $$$.

Thank you so much, I didn’t knew that LG has extended their warranty to 5 years for this models (I have exactly your model and love the convenience of the opening the front of the side door) After all the tips you indicated, which I did too. I end up calling LG and had my compressor change in 24 hours at no charge. 👍

Hi, when you had your fridge repaired by LG did they only ask for the model number and or the purchase receipt too? We moved last year and had thrown out a lot of stuff and paperwork but we need to get ours fixed.

Sir after watching your video I immediately went onto the LG website CHAT with LG rep. They did extend an offered the 1 time repair on my fridge. I purchased in OCT 2018, todays Mar 10 2022. I owe you a beer or 2 :) 👍👍

Something additional that may help people. I called LG using the number on the label in the refrigerator. I couldn’t find the receipt of purchase, but based on the information on the sticker. They are able to send out a technician to fix the problem for free. I have a bottom freezer that gets cold, but doesn’t freeze. So just a suggestion, you may want to call LG first before calling a refrigerator repair person, or even trying to fix it yourself. It seems they’ve extended the warranty for a few years. I think it’s 5 years on the compressor and 10 years on the condenser (I forgotten exactly), but nonetheless you should probably call them and see if they’ll come out for free before trying to fix it yourself or paying someone else to try to fix it.

Thank you for the information. My LG fridge died also. We called a repair guy didn't do anything just a diagnosis paid $65. SoI called the LG and I was told that my refrigerator still under warranty. So they will come and fix mine in 3days because it so happened on the weekend. I was also told that they will reimburse me for the food lost .

I’ll NEVER buy an LG again!!!! Only had for 4yrs and had a technician 3 times already…. Now the freezer not freezing things and Ice-maker not making ice… I have my 1st ever refrigerator a Whirlpool in the garage that I had for years and never had service on still working like a champ!!!

Video spot on. No cooling. 3.5 years old. LG covered it. Considering it’s a $3200 fridge they did the right thing. Mine was also the compressor.

I also had compressor fixed on a 3 year old french door LG. Guess what? 2 years later the compressor crapped out again. LG IS JUNK!

LG and their "linear compressors" I'm glad you got yours working through compressor replacement, you may want to ask him the best way to keep the compressor from repeating the misadventure. You don't want to have to repeat this again in a couple of years.

Just want people to be aware that the linear compressor has a short shelf life. I bought a LG French door refrigerator in 2017. In 2020 the compressor died lost everything in fridge and freezer. Guess what, 2 year later last week it happened again. Same issue. The compressors are junk! You have been warned if you buy LG with Linear compressor. For reference I also bought a washer/dryer and stove at same time. Since my purchases in 2017, I have had to get pump fixed on washer, convection fan fixed on stove and now 2nd compressor repair. LG IS JUNK, period!

LG does not stand behind their products after 5 year warranty. My Linear Compressor - LSFD2491ST just went out yesterday. Ice and everything in the freezer just started melting. Fridge worked for some time but that's out too. Just using the water filter for clean drinking water. Their phones are crap too. Had an LG Stylo 4 and just right after 2 year warranty was up the phone stopped working. I would never recommend them. Go with GE or Samsung :)

thank for your video .i just talked Lg i am having same issues with my fridge (which i bought 2 years back ) for last 2 days. i called LG today and they are coming for servicing after 7 days and they will cover labor and parts also if they find manufacturing defects and ready to compensate your food lost also after the service done. i hope they will do what they said.

@@feb74 Power reset to reboot computer mentioned at 1 minute, did the trick for me. My fridge had lost pressure/vacuum so the door opened too easily and it wasn't cold enough inside. Good to know that warranty can be extended.

I have the same refrigerator, my freezer side is not freezing but the refrigerator side is OK. The unit is just under 4 years old and has a good warranty. LG repairman will be here in 6 days though, compressor warranty is 10 years. All parts and labor covered under warranty.

I like to give LG a finger, too! Behind that company charming there has been a hundred million dollar law suit and ten thousands of people paid up to $1500 for this compressor changed before the LG policy would changed! Thanks for this video. Also I remind people that average life of a well made compressor is 25 years!

Yup got no such warranty when the compressor crapped out 3 years ago. You know it’s a horrible company when you have thousands of complaints and they do nothing about it until lawyers get involved. Just like the LG stove we have when you brush by the controls and the gas comes on. LG only cares when they get sued.

Great video! Thanks for taking the time to create this as it saved me time, money, and frustration in trying to fix it myself. I did call LG after watching this video and they were very nice and did extend our warranty to 5 years and therefore our fix was covered without any cost to us as our refrigerator is less than 3 years old. The service person came out yesterday and replaced the compressor and it is now working wonderfully. Thanks Again!

Good morning "Groupon Guy". I happen to see your video while searching for info on why my LG Refrigerator was not cooling enough. I could not find my receipt for the purchase of the refrigerator but had a rough idea as to when I purchased it and where from. I want to thank you because after watching your video I decided to call LG and was happily surprised to find out that my LG was still under the 5 year warranty and now someone is come to fix the problem. Had it not been for your video I would have called a local service repair company and paid for the repair which I am sure would have been expensive. As for those people with negative comments below, they are the ones who make the world an ugly place. You my friend, make the world a better place to live in by sharing with the rest of us your experience. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Using the extended warranty, technician came out and replaced the evaporator (inside the fridge near the vegetable drawers), refrigerant copper filter, and compressor (back of fridge), plus installed new software for the compressor. Technician mentioned that fridges these days are energy efficient and have smaller compressors, so overloading the fridge can cause the compressor to wear out. I told him that I only put regular amounts of food nothing extreme. On the side of caution, tech says don't block any cold air ports inside the freezer and fridge.
