What TV comparison do you want to see next? Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't so you can catch the next one, also I got something special planned involving multiple TVs for this weekend on the live stream front!
For me personally the S95C has juuuust edged out the G3 from everything I have watched. But, I am curious about the QN95C vs S95C... need a 75-77-inch this year. Settled for the S95B 65" going to sell it and replace it with the bigger size probably on black Friday.
G3 is a valiant effort by LG to stay relevant in 2023 but things have to change in 2024 (lower prices?) otherwise it will fall farther and farther behind as content catches up to the capabilities of QD-OLED. Even with blue pho-OLED in 2026, the WOLED with color filter will still be more diluted at higher luminances than the QD color converting layer for the highest performance TVs priced as flagship. WOLED is definitely relevant for the B and C series but when priced the same as QD-OLED, the G series will face more performance discrepancies as QD-OLED matures with each subsequent year.
LG G3 came really close but the downsides in game mode show that a lot of work has to be put into processing to get the G3 to match up close to the QD-OLED. I was really close to saying the G3 was the better TV if it wasn't for the uniformity and game mode because I love the picture quality overall in terms of the brightness and depth but the big issue is its just not as clean and thats what really hurt it. The big eye opener was that scene I showed at the end with the Ghostwire Tokyo cutscene in the white room the difference looks worse on camera but even in person you can see the clean white uniformity of the QD-OLED is a huge difference maker over a somewhat cloudy looking and slightly tinted WOLED panel,
I've been researching TV's for about 6 weeks now and I was leaning towards QD-OLED. but after seeing the results of the ongoing tests RTINGS is doing, as a heavy gamer I decided to avoid the QD-OLED's for this round. Now I'm strongly leaning towards the LG G3.
@@TechWithKG It's an issue for heavy game use as well as they often have HUD's with static information. There has been plenty of time when I've played games for more than 9 hours a day and now I'm retired! I definitely wouldn't chance a QD-OLED at this point as they are showing serious burn-in after less than a year.
@@im2fast4u711 No OLED is safe but QD-OLED is considerably worse. I'm not worried about the non-QD models. I'm sure they'll fix the problem with QD soon enough as well but I would definitely avoid this generation if you're a heavy gamer.
@@Mythos131 I have a s95b which I use exclusively with my racing rig, I haven't had any issues. But I also have a qn90a which suffered burn in due to gt7, which isn't common with lcd based screens. I do take more care with the s95 then I did with the qn90a which I had on full blast brightness all the time. Bottom line is get an extended warranty from best buy no matter what TV you get.
Same, mines next week. I came from a90j. Had so many issues with it. Every sony tv I have ever owned has been returned or replaced. My c9 still going strong no issues. I think LG make the best/reliable tvs currently
@@harrisonkay575 That is interesting. My history is that I came from the Sony LEDs (940e) and the HDR was excellent and had no problems, then transitioned to the LG CX and loved the Blacks. Hoping this G3 hits that sweet spot.
@@harrisonkay575are you satisfied and feel like you truly upgraded your tv? I have had an 83 a90j since it released about 2 years ago and I have really enjoyed the tv. I bought a S95B 65” for my game room last year and loved it for playing games and how vivid the colors were. Now I see the g3 and s95c are both amazing tvs but only go up to 77” sizes. Do you think it would be an upgrade for me to go from 83 a90j to 77 G3/s95c?
Both tv are so close on the camera and i hardly see any colour difference, so my choice come done to, quicker operating OS and good support and quick update releases that fix bugs and issues with the tv OS. I would go with the LG G3
@epic gamer Not worried about burn in, had an LG CX that had 7200 hour on it within 1 year and 4 months from gaming 12+ hours a day and watching movies and zero burn in nor does my G2 now. So you don't need to worry about Samsung or Lg, as long as you don't leave it on static image for too long
@@epicgamer496 I am still getting an extended warranty lg's 5 year warranty they don't charge you for the labor within the first year but after that if you need the tv replaced or anything they charge you labor I think I will try samsung this time
@@epicgamer496 what burn in. I have a soon to be 5 year old c8 with over 17600 goes on it on 60/40 gaming/ tv watching. It doesn’t show any signs of minimap or hud or tv channel logo burn in at all. I even played sniper elite 4 everyday during the lockdown and after spinal epidurals. I also haven’t babies it or anything. It does it’s own stuff at ore set hours
@TechWithKG I noticed in the pitcure processing section, if I pause the video on any frame, the LG has the sharper more defined image. I have the S95C 77" now and I am trying to work out why the LG still has more definition and depth to it's image in many cases.
Perhaps the s95c has lifted blacks? Maybe try turning down the shadow detail setting and see if that allows for more depth to your picture. I don’t have this tv so I can’t try it myself but the s95c is the tv I’m most interested in, so let me know how it goes. Good luck 👍
Excellent video. I think what makes your channel is that you are relateable to the every day person. You look and modes, vary them with settings (i.e. expression enhancer), explain the impact of the feature and on to the next. Almost like bullet points. Great reviewer I really think i will be looking towards the LG G3 down the road with a price drop later in the year. To my eye the LG seems to push the blues and a little cooler as compared to the Samsung's reds, yellows, oranges and i think that is my preferance in color pallet. Both great TVs though
@@trayvonlittle9326 they are good for old content, but for movies(generally) samsung qd oled is better, 1980 year movie is good with lg but after 2010 movies has high picture quality, for movies qd oled samsung is superior, but in general i would prefer lg because it is overall better all round tv
Very good review and comparison. I just subscribed. I am glad you pointed out the camera capturing both would produce different results than the actual image. This is of course based on the spectral sensitivity of your camera against the 2 different technologies. Basically a technical Metamerism. Perhaps in the future video's if you haven't already let the viewer know at the start of the video about the camera/capture item. I knew this myself when watching as I have done the same process but was happy when you pointed it out. Great work !!
Thanks, awesome comparison. I bought the s95b from discount and it is amazing. I think most of them are bent because of the bad quality package design. Sad to hear that it's the same in the never model. The LG is a clear winner in quality, for sure. One tip for you! Please add an extra test for unwanted sound test: coil/electric whining noise on/off. Nobody does that in the reviews! Some models may have very bad whining, so it would be nice to hear your test results. I would not buy this kind of the tv because I hate whining noise.
Can't wait for the gaming comparison. Also can't wait for the Sony A95L when it comes out later this year. This is gonna be difficult for me to pick an OLED for both Home Theater and living room.
There should be no substitute for the LG G3. Access to 3d lut is something that provides reference grade picture quality where the Sony's and Samsung's cant do that without a Lumagen or Madvr Envy.
@@spartan2188 mwa sony a95k nice tv. but lg g3 is better. better upscaling also. yeah lg g3 is 2023 model. and sony qd oled from 2022. but processing of the c3 and g3 series now is on a high level. in reviews they say ook. best processing seen on a oled yet. so stop sucking sony
Man, that comparison was great 👍 I have the G2, and i am super happy, I will consider buying new tv next year. I think it's not much of a difference right now
Brightness can be rectified by darkening the room. What you can't rectify on the LG is the colour accuracy given that WOLED is inherently flawed by the white sub-pixel. Any colour that is not white, black or a shade of grey where each sub-pixel is outputting the exact same levels of light is going to to be washed out either a little or a lot depending on the given colour and brightness.
As a S95B owner I have to admit that LG catched up and even surpassed Samsung in a few categories. But if I needed a TV today I would still go with QD OLED. My advise: never buy a TV at launch. Wait till black friday or christmas and you get 30%-50% discount. I paid for my 55" S95B only 900€ just 6 Months after relase while the launch price was 2300€.
G2 is a great TV thats still a nice pickup in my book especially with the sales on it, G3 is an improvement but you dont see the big night and day difference unless you go for the brighter picture pop modes I showcased, otherwise filmmaker mode should be along the same lines just slightly brighter but nothing to have FOMO over IMO.
when the game mode is fixed ( if its gonna get fixed) i will get the G3 for sure because it matches the s95c in movies ( and sometimes surpasses the s95c) , i know there is workaround with ALLM but in classy yesterday stream it looks like it doesnt work with the ps5 like it does with the pc/xbox and it is adding input lag, for sdr gaming you can just use a tool to get the peak brightness low/med/high if you want so thats a no problem, just need them to fix the game mode on the G3 and that will be superb.
It sounds like the game mode + color boosting would add input lag so I am not sure LG will fix this, but ALLM didn't feel that much worse so maybe they add a toggle for color boosting that adds a small amount of input lag I think people would take that.
@@TechWithKG the wordaround with the film maker mode +allm looks like its already really good and the same input lag as game mode with the color boosting already enabled, so its nice to have that if its really the same input lag then its perfect. but yea still hoping that will just fix it and thats it btw KG thanks for the videos my brother!.
Not sure if the settings in game mode do the same thing, but Classy was able to make some changes to the picture brightness, etc by changing the game mode settings.
Man, the green tint on the LG OLEDs are so noticeable. I got a C4 recently and I just can't unsee it now. I'm probably going to exchange for the S95C, especially after seeing this review. Thanks for posting!
@TechWithKG I fortunately just went into the white point settings and set the "Green" to about -25 which has definitely mitigated the issue quite a bit. I don't feel I should have to do that with how expensive these TVs are but what can you do. Thanks again for the post.
Just bought the 77“ LG G3 at the start of April primarily for gaming. Samsung is not an option since they put ads in the TV UI and they have very bad picture calculation for PAL content with tons of issues. The G3 is a big upgrade from my C9 so no regrets.
@@majorastorm je l'attends aussi le LG G3 65 " pour un ancien Samsung led de 48" le UE8000ZLXTF j'ai hâte de recevoir mon G3 c'est un OLED Evo MLA de folies
@@Commsfarage meant difference in price is irrelevant as 1k over 5 years is just 200. Many will buy at launch cheaper TV rather than wait till Black Friday for instance and get better one for less. But similarly you can opt for considerably cheaper TV and replace it quicker.
@@marcustan9605You are both wrong. The 95c is not as bright for a fact it has lower nits. Just because you saw one in person does not indicate that every single setting was exactly the same.
Have a G2 and absolutely love how it looks and feels on my wall. Actually feels built incredibly well and with premium materials. Honestly would say it’s the apple of tv builds 😅
Overall I think the S95C would be a better choice it’s good that now you can have QD oled in 77 the colours just pop more also S95C now pantone certified? Yeah 100.
I think this is one of the first years two different brands tvs with different technologies looking so alike. For the first minutes of videos, until you changed to the cinema/movie modes, the HDR brightness and colors were almost undistinguished.
@Bzake The fact that it is a RU-vid video does not invalidate that you can determine differences from a video, you can upload them in 4K and with high bitrate and low compression. It would make more sense for you to say that you can't see the difference because of how the camera sensor captured the image, what exposure and color temperature it chose, etc. You can see obvious differences between TV deathmach on RU-vid. So the fact that there are no differences in this video shows that they are very similar to each other. How similar? For that it is necessary to see them in person.
@@TechWithKG I’ve realized that Gaming has gained a lot of focus in the realm of Tv review channels lately. In this case there is a clear difference in color luminance. But I would value some feedback of what difference were you able to spot with your eyes/perceptio for pure movie videophile purposes.
This is such a hard comparison. I like multiple scenes/modes the most on the LG and Samsung, there is no clear winner for me. However I will be going for the LG (will be buying it in 2 weeks). Dolby vision was the deciding factor for me.
Sure seems like the S95C slightly pulls ahead and many scenes (at least the vid we see on RU-vid) but very close and the LG got a bit better in specially scenes that are closer to white scenes, which is to be expected with QD OLED. They’re just seems to be a lot of LG fan boys and Samsung haters. I have owned both Samsung and LG and I personally had better experience with my Samsung’s picture wise then the LG C2 I had. The one thing I will say 100% though is the S95C is honestly too thin in my opinion which I never thought was possible for a TV. I would be terrified to move my 77 inch to another room, even with two strong men moving it. I actually had to order a replacement as I followed some people’s advice and paid the $30 for the TV install and the original installers bent the panel and said they have never worked with a TV so thin originally. These replacements have got to be cost in Samsung and I bet next year’s model won’t be this thin. To be fair, once the TV is set up, though, it looks amazing! And I absolutely love my S95C so am a bit biased which I understand. The one downside is, of course, the Samsung operating system, which does lack ease of use, but once you get your picture mode set up, I never even going to the menu anyway.
u are best one on youtube for me that do comparison for tvs and i am fan for u and i hope from u to do comparison between a95k and s95c tv, thank u so much for all video and all your content realy its is the best
Waiting fo A95L. I expect it to be better than both the S95C and the G3 like last year. The new Mediatek processor should make it even better and worth the wait.
@@TechWithKG Yep, HDMI's and price are both downsides. I'm not a big gamer so I don't need 4 ports but I'll bite the bullet a pay after your review. Thanks
If you’re a person who keeps their TVs for awhile I would recommend the G3. Samsung doesn’t even consider their QD-OLEDs as their top TVs (they place their QLEDs higher in priority) so support will be more lacking. The G3 is LG’s flagship and will get their highest attention and support. Also, the QD-OLEDs appear to be more prone to burn-in. LG has been mitigating burn-in for years so they know what they’re doing. Since the G3 is close or even better than the S95C in most scenes it’s just the smarter choice long term
@@TheAntifluencer Agreed, the newer panels should be better. We’ll have to wait and see. Everyone also thought that QD-OLED in general would be less prone to burn-in last year and that proved to be false. LG is at least a known quantity so I would trust its burn-in performance more for the time being
I hate to say it, cause ive been looking forward to it before people even knew what qd oled was, and now when we finally have it (btw i have my own qd oled) i have to say it isnt really better than oled, and the colors are too strong, it looks unatural and if you have an eye for it the purple tint is noticable and WD-oled just looks more clean than qd oled It is still very early and will ofc improve, but if you want the most natural and clean looking tv go for WD-oled especially MLA for the best oled on the market
For an all around TV, and I do game. If I buy a geeksquad warranty in case of any Samsung issues, would the S95C be the better all arounder for me? I want that pop like I have with my A95k (still within the return window but want something a bit brighter for specular highlights and better gaming modes)
Which tv has better motion and upscalling kg? Also do you know if samsung has fixed the issue where the tv will auto update even when auto update is turned off?
We're waiting to replace our 75inch SONY X95K for the living room with QD-OLED 77inch when Black Friday rolls around. Need a good bright tv, but not so heavy like the SONY X95 Series.
Went to Best Buy yesterday. LG G3 clearly has better build quilt quality. Also, the Samsung S90 and S95 were the ONLY TVs on the floor with burn in. One had the Amazon Prime logo burnt in the screen and the other had different patterns burnt in. Literally not one employee was pushing Samsung TVs.
On first impression I would def pick the S95C because game mode is easily one of the most important factors to me and you get the more vibrant colors on the QD Oled anyways. On the other hand 5 years warranty and better build quality on the G3 is always a "safer" option. But I still would take the risk with the S95C tbh
there were many such brave men!!! bought a samsung s95b, where are they now??? the TV is repaired every six months... The TV panel is such a thin screen that it comes with a bent screen from the factory... I asked the salesperson at the store.... he said how much do you have? we unpacked the screens, all bent, defective....🙋🇺🇦🇨🇰🇱🇷🇬🇧🇱🇹
Good points made here, G3 has a lot of value included and it is a pretty safe option. S95C is the more capable TV but also could be the TV that gives you more headaches with the firmware track record.
Brother I'm getting the S95C 77 from a CX 65INCH it's a very hard choice because yes I game alot but I also stream movies so it's tough and I really had my heart set on a 85inch 900b which is now 5k used to be $6500 and I'll be ready for when consoles go 8k and i was told that a 85 inch would benefit from double the pixels but everyone's says G3 or S95C have better picture quality I hope I'm making the right decision
It’s so obvious from the beginning tll end you are a hardcore LG fan bro😂. I mean setting low contrast for Samsung , and warmer for LG says all. Thank you
I looking forward to getting the Panasonic mla MZ2000 the creator of the heatsink and they push harder than LG ,also plan on the 2023 Qd oled from Sony.
It looks that way because SDR Game Mode is restricting the changing of the peak brightness toggle, it certainly is capable of being as bright as the S95C in SDR but for some reason LG wants to lock this setting away. There is a workaround by using ALLM and other picture modes if you want higher brightness for your SDR gaming.
Hey KG. I have two questions 1. A person who wrote a review of S95C on Amazon said game mode does not work on PS5. Can you please confirm this? 2. When switching inputs from a streaming device to PS5, the tv doesn't complete the transfer. half of the screen is still showing the other input when you are on PS5 input. Don't know If this applies to Xbox. Can you also confirm If this happens to you as well?
I do not like the way the lg is using brightness at all tbh. I don't even like that look. The s95c retains all of its depth and color which I prefer. Especially in the low luminance scenes. I Def prefer the processor on the 95c also. Lg just went hey let's throw brightness at it and sacrifice all of this other stuff. It's something you just have to see in person to see what I'm talking about. If you aren't getting it calibrated the lg is overshooting like crazy in many scenes it's clipping also.
@@reviewforthetube6485 I seen the g3 and preferred the sammy over it plus with that 5 year panel warranty you gotta hope they have it in stock plus you gotta unmount the tv yourself you would have to pay Lg for them to unmount it. Speaking from experience
Review expression enhancer brightness is very closely resembling what contrast enhancer is on Samsung but it doesn’t have as many downsides with washing out colors, though you’ll definitely see clipping some people will find it useful who like boosting their brightness because colors still pop. That said I agree with you I personally ended up cutting this feature from my preferred way of watching because the depth is lost too much for my liking.
If you don't care about accuracy with your gaming and you are just going for picture pop in your gaming the S95B can get the job done almost as well as the S95C in the gaming department.
I'm waiting for the new Sony X95L to come out before choosing my TV. Plus it comes in 85" which these 2 TVs don't. Would have gotten the LG G3 in 83" but it doesn't have MLA which is a huge deal breaker.
they are both on sale here in australia, both in 65 inch the S95C is $3600 and the G3 is $4900, pricing the G3 so much more higher is the biggest mistake.
which ever one of these goes down in price the fastest in let's say 6 to 8 months time is my go to. i have seen both in real life and my eyes can not see a difference between them not saying there is no difference it is just so small my 46 year old eyes loves them both equally
@@jonasnezinomas5781 Yes, I'm buying one of the top 3 flag ship TV's in 77". I was leaning toward the LG3 because of the warranty but when I found it that it's pretty lame I sort of crossed it off my list. I'm waiting for Sony to come out with their A95L so I can decide which one. Will most likely buy it at my local BestBuy so if something goes wrong I can return it myself. BestBuy has the best, albeit, most expensive warranty out there.
How is Samsung doing with qa/qc with this years panel? They were notorious with the s95b and it really is holding me back from picking the s95c over the g3. The hours on the phone and time wasting that I had to go through with the s95b (3 months of no usage due to broken panels) was just not worth it
Kg I'm looking to get the s95c this week but had a few questions one of them is have they fixed the hgig with a firmware update and does the tv upscale games to 4k in game mode? Also how is this tv with firmware updates in general so far have samsung improved a lot since last year as I don't want my tv to be downgraded with firmware updates?
KG, you mentioned the S95C having extra clarity due to dynamic sharpening. Would you say this extra sharpening behaves like Sony's reality creation? Thanks!
I'm one of those vivid noobs. I'm curious if you can get the samsung closer to the G3 in vivid mode if you adjust the picture settings on the sony. I know Sony gives you a lot of options. I love the highlights and detail of the G3, but sometimes the S95C blows the G3 off the table with some bright saturated colors and in film maker mode it has better detail than the G3 again. Hard to choose but easier if the S95C can get closer to G3 with some adjustments.
The Samsung in game mode looks really blown out and way too vibrant. It honestly looks way over saturated and given the choice between the 2 I'd take the g3 here. Can't wait to see what the Sony a95 l looks like
Thanks for the great review. 1.Which tv has more depth and detailing.( i.e better processor) 2. Which tv has better low content upscaling. I need you suggestion before buying one
Really? That’s odd because people have said the opposite in comments. Guess what I’m not marketing either lol but I have affiliate links for both if people want to support the channel.
Id say if your upgrading size as well yes if not I would just wait, while the S95C is nearly twice as bright as the CX and the color is better. CX is still a solid TV overall.
Nice video KG. Im liking the G3 more for normal content but damn..then I want a good gaming tv. So im thinking mini led for the all rounder, Im so tempted to just pull the trigger. But ill wait to see you review it first KG.
@@TechWithKG The QN95C KG. Just need to know how it compares to the oleds, but I have a fairly bright room so it might be my best option. Id just love to hear your thoughts on it before I committed!
I have a qn90b that I'll be selling probably for an oled soon. Supposedly the C series fixed a lot of the b series issues but samsung has been known to screw tv's update with their updates they push out.
Hard to say Vincent is under the impression they did it to reduce input lag so if this is the case I am not sure if they will deliver a solution they typically don't want to add input lag to their game mode in favor or processing, we still dont have a working smooth gradation in game mode after a few years.
