Still on my LG C7 without any burn in or any dead pixels. Apart from a little wonkyness from one of the 4 HDMI ports, it still runs like a charm. The only thing that's making me want to upgrade are the recent 144hz refresh rates. A before and after comparison would be awesome to see.
@stefangroert9051
@stefangroert9051 Месяц назад
@@TheRealStenn Got myself a CX here. The thing is, I’m not going to get a new one each year, I’ll probably keep using mine for about 8-10 years. Although I really enjoy these videos about the latest technology I’d also be curious to see how much has really changed. 🤷‍♂️

The upgrades are not too noticeable. Like for instance, my A80J is basically the same Tv as the A80L or the upcoming Bravia8 Oled. I mean we are talking maybe 10% difference at most. LG has had a bit more of an improvement in their C series line, but the C4 is only maybe 15% better than the CX. It's shocking how the oled mid ranged market has stagnated. The biggest shake up we have had was the introduction of QD Oled but even then I can't really tell the difference between my s95B and A80j walking room too room in a paused scene. I think the biggest difference in the generations would be moreso durability reasons than anything else.
@dejanharapinyt

@@chasecrappel9480i think certain buggs of oled tech have been improved and better programing. But nothing that would be clearly visible to an average person in most scenes. But i might be wrong.

If was a extremely limited review with just all the torture nitpicking tests . No HDR movie watching in full Dynamic mode. Why even buy this TV to run it in FMM at 1000. Yet he has videos raving about some 10000Nit monster than would be 20 times brighter than your room lights, and probably dreadful remapping a 600 or 1000NIT mastered movi . Ie give a the 100000 monster a free pass as you got a freebie trip . People seem to really like the dynamic mode on the G4 and that it gives a 3D like effect. Remember the gushing on the Sony , the best HDR impact in specular highlights . Nada here Really disappointed , not interested in torture tests, non real world BS , bit starved content , crappy youtube rubbish . Don't care if some tiny minor graduations in the Martian , you have to want to see it . Vincent is becoming more irrelevant as the TVs are all mostly excellent. What is more important is the limitations or bugs. You don't need 8K or 10000Nits to have a happy viewing time . Cinema is only 200Nits . getting a good discount and biggest as possible and putting extra into a sound system is best for immersion Really this review told me nothing new or would affect my buying decision . Rather real world testing now , as TVs so good
@vlcthefish

@@nimblegoat the biggest annoyance is Vincent not using any type of chapter system so his videos are a book without chapters, feels like listening to 18 mins of a long monotonous run on sentence. that was bearable a few years ago when things were still more exciting, but now i skim through this and usually just stick to av forums reviews at this point as its to the point since all of these tvs are similar at this point.
@nimblegoat
@nimblegoat Месяц назад
@@vlcthefish Yeah he's not even consistent even with that , showing the Pan movie etc . Actually the chart with the colours cyan , primaries , magenta etc was excellent and novel . You just felt he spent his month reviewing trying to find stuff to catch this TV out. Stuff that many of us don't care about that much on our existing TVs . Starting to remind me off nitpicking audio reviews that forget about the music. TBF he says Best in Class , great HDR impact. Plus we will get a end of year shoot out, but again a grain of salt, as want what reviewers like, not what looks closest to a Sony mastering monitor. Think is as long as you know the limitations of various manufacturers, all these TVs will look great . Plus we are getting YOY improvements, 4 stacks of OLED coming next year. Also LGs 5 years updates will improve and already good HDR and colour mapping. My end TV is 4000 HDR full BT2020, 240HZ - they will get better after that , but that's enough for me to buy biggest at that ability and not buy another till it dies ( to me at 4000 Master done real well will be excellent in a dark room , without making the room stupidly bright. My brain can do the rest. Ie a 1000 NIT master will ALWAYS look better if excellent than a average 4000 Nits master . This is true for music , SDR movies. LOTR will always look great no matter the TV, even on a so so LCD

Thank you for these no-nonsense but comprehensive reviews! It's great to see the improvements over the G3, but I'll keep my G2 until LG (or Samsung or Sony) implements their 3000+ nit OLED panels with processing improvements that match or are hopefully improved vs. the G4. (And who knows: maybe there will be more "affordable" 77-100 inch M5s or M6s by then? Probably wishful thinking, but it would be really nice to see the M-series prices start to drop so that I and others might start to consider them.)

lol ultra premium products stay at ultra premium prices for a reason - they're supposed to be exclusive and profitable. Just like the 97" G2 won't come down in price until end of life (and even then it won't be much), the M series will not be reducing msrp any time soon.

"Thousands of Nits" my ass....There is not a better looking TV on the market than SONY ay every level.....and likely never will be. You "spec nerds" need to STOP it because 98% of TV buyers could give a ratsass what the specs are, they just want to watch the best TV OUT OF THE BOX with the best quality that will last for at least 4-5 years.
@joes3800
@joes3800 29 дней назад
@steveludwig4200 To each their own; no need to get so worked up about it. But TVs that get brighter will require less tone mapping since they can display 1000-4000 nit content natively, not to mention such TVs have way more HDR and SDR impact generally. For those that don't look for that stuff, save your money. But I am indeed a nerd who really enjoys looking for such details, whether I am doing critical or casual viewing. Plus, I agree with part of what you say in that I'll be perfectly happy with my G2 until there is enough of an overall PQ and processing leap forward to make another flagship TV purchase worth it for me with my budget. So I do wait 4-8 years between making purchases. But again, to each their own.

I was always under the impression that Cinematic Movement was dynamic on the G3 as well, where it basically was equivalent to a de-judder setting of 3 most of the time but would drop slightly to something around a 2 if fast motion was detected. Classy Tech indicated that with the G4 the TV holds a lower de-judder setting like a 1 or 2 for regular watching and ramps up interpolation as needed instead of ramping down. Does that sound about right?

Most of the G3’s have no backflow some of them come with no plug and you have to find a plug. Some people don’t even know where to find a plug and people have no outlet in their house are in their barn, and those people just hoist up an old television, like a Samsung or anything like that no watch in the dark they’ll watch movies. They’ll watch movies like alone or they watch artist, but they will never know the true power of a pro.

Bright colors in HDR look quite a bit better on QDOLED TVs compared to WOLED but unless you're watching TV demo videos all the time, it's not even noticeable for 99.5% of HDR Netflix and Blu-ray content.

I have a LG CX, which I moved to the main lounge and purchased a Samsung S 95C for gaming in a different room, initially I was very impressed with the Samsung the QDoled did have a Wow factor and I could appreciate the brightness and the colour upgrade, however, I started to experience the dreaded loss of signal black screens, nothing I did would stop it, resetting the TV trying different leads every possible thing it would go away for awhile and then come back, people are saying it’s one connect, I managed to get a full refund and can’t decide what to do now, I’m using my CX again for gaming and to be quite honest it’s really good. It’s still impresses me more than enough really and no problems at all with loss of signal. I’m considering the G4 but I might wait a bit longer.

I wish they started to make 42' TV's in the G series. This size is perfect for PC monitors. Does anyone know which panels are used on C4 series? Is it last year MLA, or EVO from 2 generations ago?

Thank you for all the reviews and information, but wouldnt it be better to record the comparisons in HDR which is absolute (at least without DTM and on calibrated displays) Then we are at least able to see the differences in luminance between TVs edit: Most new phones with HDR have very good factory calibration and high peak nits

Always like your tests. Strange however that the brightness difference is so small because other reviewers like rtings show bigger differences compared to G3. Would LG use two different panels in their new G4? One brighter and one like last year 🤔😵
@alsayedfakhri4597

Ultimately it's the content you watch that matters. Rtings test the same thing on every TV but that's not necessarily how we'll it'll perform in real life.

Vincent, are you aware of the HDMI2 issue that more and more people start reporting on forums such as avforums or avsforum (myself included)? When video sources are connected through HDMI2, typically with an external AV but not only, sometimes the G4 gives a scrambled picture, or black screen, and only way out is to switch off for a while. LG are just dismissive so far, and their support being what it is, it's becoming frustrating. Maybe someone like yourself could test this to see for yourself and put some pressure on LG to fix ?
