Voltage testing to help find problem for EAY62810301 power supply for No Backlights
Click Here for Replacement Parts: www.shopjimmy.com/
Be sure to match your Panel number and power supply part number. LC320DUE-SFR1
In this video we will show how to troubleshoot if you have the symptom of no image or a blank screen, but you can see an image on the screen with a flashlight and you do have audio.
This video applies to the following power supply/LED board part number. EAY62810301 for LG TV model 32LN5300-UB.
For LG TV models, 32LN5300-UB, 32LN5310-UB, 32LN5700-UH and panel number LC320DUE-SFR1.
LEDs are panel specific, so you must match the panel sticker number, to be sure you have the correct replacement LEDs.
In this video the tests that we are showing is checking the voltages. Testing the voltages will help to determine if the backlighting problem is being caused by the power supply/LED board, or the actual LEDs themselves.
If you have not run the flashlight/backlight test, please click the link in the video to the flashlight test.
If there is not a link to click, please go to our channel and find the flashlight test video. After running the flashlight test, if you determine that you do have an image on the screen, while using a flashlight, and you have audio, but no backlights, continue this troubleshooting video.
In order to continue troubleshooting, you will need to have the skills experience and tools necessary to check voltages on the power supply/LED board.
It is necessary that you take the proper precautions to protect yourself, as checking voltages can be dangerous on a TV that is powered on.
I have begun by removing the screws and the back cover off my TV. We will be running the test on the power supply/LED board, here on the panel.
We have highlighted this board in the video.
As we take a closer look at the power supply/LED board, here is the cable connection that runs from the power supply to the LEDs. I will be checking the voltages at this connection.
Since this is a smaller TV, we will only have one test point at the connection, which is labeled LED plus.
Before I begin testing the points, I will plug in my TV and hit the power button on the side to turn it on.
I will measure the voltage at the test point and it shows 84 volts, which is good.
Before I begin testing the points, I will plug in my TV and hit the power button on the side to turn it on. If the voltages were at zero or lower that our normal numbers, that would show that there could be a problem with the power supply board.
I would want to first unplug the TV and then disconnect the LED cable and then retest the point. So, unplug the TV, disconnect the LED cable, plug the TV back in and turn it on and then retest the point.
We get a reading higher than normal, which shows that the power supply is working and there is a problem with the LEDs.
When we were getting a lower than normal reading or zeros, then the problem would be the power supply.
Before I begin testing my points, I will plug in my TV and hit the power button on the side to turn it on.
If the voltages show as much higher than our normal numbers, then you most likely have a problem with the LED strips.
Before replacing the LED strips, you will want to disconnect the LED cable and retest.
Once again, be sure to unplug the TV, then disconnect the LED cable, plug the TV back in, power it on and then retest the point.
We get a reading higher than normal, which shows that the power supply is working and there is a problem with the LEDs.
If we were getting a lower than normal reading or zeros, then the problem would be the power supply.
If you decide to replace the LEDs in your TV, here are a few recommendations...
It is recommended that the replacement be done by a trained professional, as during the replacement process there is a chance you could damage the TV panel.
If you damage your TV panel, it is not fixable and the TV will no longer operate as normal.
Always replace all of the LED strips in your TV at the same time. If one of them has shorted out, there is a high likely-hood of another having the same problem.
When searching for replacement LED strips, be sure to find the panel information for your TV and search using that information.
Panel info can be located on a sticker on the panel or sometimes on a buffer board, sometimes in the TV.
LED strips are panel specific and not model specific.
If you do need to replace the power supply board, be sure to find a replacement that matches your original part number on the board.
Be sure to unplug your TV.
You will need to start by removing all of the cables connected to the power supply.
Then remove all of the screws holding the board to the TV panel.
After removing the screws, you should be able to lift the board from the TV panel.
Then, put your replacement board on the panel and secure it using the screws and then reconnect all of the cables.

How do you know what your normal voltages are? I have an lg 47ln5700, and we are trying to determine if we are need to replace the LEDs or the power supply board.

Because it's missing in the video: The multimeter's black (Common, COM, or (-) lead) goes to Ground ("Earth," if you're in the UK): Pretty much any of the silver screws holding the power supply board to the panel frame will do. Also, the board part number in the video ("EAY62810301") is not the number printed directly on the circuit board (which is probably "EAX65905001"). To see if you have the right board, look for the digits "62810301" on the bar code sticker at the top-left corner of the board.

Many thanks for the advice. The charity shop I do tech fixes and repairs for here in the UK had a 2015 vintage 32LN540 donated that would power up taking 14W and connect to LAN but no picture. Same PSU board as here and with 125V on LED+ it's clear the LED backlight is o/c. I'm staggered a company like LG would produce kit with such a common failure as this. I'll look to see if there's any point in eBaying the boards.

I have about the same tv as in this video but mine isn't in your list in the beginning of the video. LG led tv mn/32LN530B-UA power supply board I think is #EAX64905001 (2.7) edit: this is the generic board #. I found the sticker did have the same part # you mention in the video EAY62810301 mine just doesn't have the EAY. did flashlight test and can see the menu. tested powersupply with dvm and it checks out good. when I test led cable coming off of power supply board with power on I get bouncing above 126V up to 132V. with led cable unplugged and power on I get the same. according to this video there is a problem with the led strips. I guess I'm just wanting to verify this is correct with mine being a different model. thanks a million you guys rock!

Thanks Jimmy. I did your flashlight test on tv with sound, from OAT connection, but black screen. ~ I could read the headline at bottom, of that trial going on. So I can just order that board (EAY62810301 ?) from your guys and slap it in? I was picturing a condenser or such went out and I'd have to learn soldering...which I most likely wouldn't do. Replacing that board looks as changing out a license plate light/with pigtail. I can do that board. I'll probably drop an Email after I verify the part #.

Hello, I have a problem with my LG 47LN5400. I preformed the back light test so that I could see if back lights appeared or not and they did not. I did although see the menu on the screen when I had the tv in a dark room with a flashlight on it and also sound does come from the tv. I understand that it can be a bad power supply or there are bad leds. I want to know exactly which part I am going to need before purchasing it just so I know for sure and if there are any other test that I need to perform so that I can get this tv back to normal asap! Thanks in advance and I really look forward to the feedback.

Hi, none of your videos show what voltage the negative pin on the backlight connector should have??? I have an LG-42LB5820, blank screen, fails the flashlight test, power switch turns on tv, standby voltage is ok, on voltages seem ok (12v is a bit low @ 11.85v) The LED power supply says it should be 208V, while the positive LED pin gives less than one volt when the LEDs are plugged in, and 106v when not plugged in, occasionally jumping up to 200~ volts for a brief moment. The negative pin of the LED backlight connector always gives

I have a 42ln575v and need to test the voltage on the led connection to determine if the powersupply is at fault or a quick swap of leds. The odd thing is the right side LEDs have all gone out and the left side work perfect however the display doesn't show unless you shine a torch through. The sound also works. What is the difference with the connection test points on this video compared to a 42" variant?

I have a question - I watched this video and followed the testing , this is a LG 32LN5300-UB TV power supply is TE2MM628103011261(4.0) the LED + test point is showing 79v at sleep / first push of power button (lower then the 84v), but as soon as i click the power on button a second time , this is when i notice the optics connector light up on the video main board and the voltage goes up to 199v on the LED + connector and goes up and down up and down constantly. Unplugging the LED connector does this same thing.. I tested other points on the power supply.. expected to see 3.5v on some of the out puts im seeing 5v and the 12v im seeing 18v.. the 24v out put is showing as high as 38v. So my assumption is the power supply..

Question: my LG55LM5800 tv has two led connectors, one black & one white. I tested both led+ pins and got the following on both connectors: When connected to LEDS - 74.1v When disconnected to LEDS - 70.3v If I understood the video correctly this points to a bad power supply board since the voltage is lower on the led+ pins when the LEDs are disconnected. Unfortunately my board LG P/N: EAY62512801 Is out of stock but there is a power supply led board repair parts kit. Should I purchase this kit? Do you think this would resolve my issue? Btw my TV has audio but the backlight keeps turning off. I can power off and back on & the tv works fine for an hour or less then the backlight goes off again. I do have an image when I shine a flashlight on the screen. Any suggestions or other things I can test would be appreciated?

Thanks for this video! I just replaced my LG 47LS4600 power board with no joy. I get the red standby light that will go on and off with the power button, but no backlight on the TV at all. I get almost 0 volts on the LED test point, with and without the LED cables plugged in, but does that necessarily mean it's still the power board? Could it be caused by the control board not switching on power to the LEDs? Is there a way to rule out the main control board before I try returning this power board? Thank you!

Sounds like main board issue.Standby light and voltage present normally means power supply working. If you hit power button on tv or remote to switch on tv and tv doesn't turn on or no LED voltage normally tells you main board isn't telling power supply to turn on and turn on tv.Issue sounds like it's within the main board

I have a LG 55LN5700 that suddenly went black. Using a flashlight I do see the menu. When I turn the TV on it will flash the LG logo for a second. The blacklight flash appears to be uniform across the entire screen. I removed the back panel and tested the voltages going to the backlights and they are zero with and without the blacklights connected. When I watch the voltage output to the backlights (connected and not connected) at when I turn the TV on I see a quick spike to approx 40v and they back to zero. I am thinking bad power supply board... do you agree. Is there anything else I should do to be certain?

My friend gave me LG 32LN540B with faulty backlight. TV screen backlight gives very short weak pulses. All capacitors are good (ESR is good, nothing visually damaged on PCB), there is 125-130V DC power supply for backlight (open circuit, voltage without load) and mosfet transistor 4NF20L for backlight is OFF (no gate-source voltage, it means some bad IC probably). I've joined Drain and Source pins of mosfet transistor together and light was on 100% brightness and voltage dropped to 70V on LED pins and power source capacitor. Now very strange thing happened. I disconnected my wire between mosfet Drain and Source pins and backlight stays ON with normal brightness and works normally. :D TV disconnected / conected again, works normally... Disconnected again, all capacitors discharged manually with 100 Ohm 5W resistor, TV connected again and backlight still works fine, but I've added button on TV's back (connected on Drain and Source pins) with sticker label "Backlight reset" for next time... :D

I'm thinking to hook up a 1080p display on a 720p TV main board? Is it possible? I mean is it possible to overclock the tv mainboard to be able to decode to 1080p display?Since it accepts the 1080p signal and downscales it maybe it could be tweaked to produce 1080p signal? Just hypothesis. I have 32"720p LG tv and I checked a datasheet of a 32" 1080p display and it seems that besides the native resolution they have pretty similar characteristics. I mean the main board is a kind of computer that is set to produce 720p, just like the android boxes that have many res. options. What if the TV mainboard is set to 720p just becase the monitor is HD Ready. It's like when the PC regulates the resolution of the monitor you hook into it. All Im trying to say that is the resolution on the mainboard limited to 720p for good or it has an optional supported resolution.

I have an insignia 55” led. I have sound and picture but no back lights. The lights have ohm reading when tested. I have no power reading coming from the led leads on the power supply board. I just got a replacement board and I still have no power to the leds I’m not sure what else it could be. Any ideas? The new board is used but supposedly tested.

My LG tv is just flashing when we turn it on, and i can see images with torch and sound is also working. But picture not coming at all. backlight is not on, its just flashes when i turn it on. I am having normal voltage after unplugging the LED supply. in your video you said if higher voltage means problem with LEDs if lower then problem with power supply but i am getting similar voltage as get in normal with LED supply plugged in. What should i do to test it ?

I have a 32" RCA RLDED3258A-E and I called the local repair shop and was told that: because I have a sound and virtually no picture, that the backlights are probably gone and replacement parts for the backlights cannot be found. The TV was made in China and imported by Curtis International Ltd. and they do not supply replacement backlights. is there any other place that can supply the parts?

Got an LG 47LN5700, screen flashes and goes dark. Measured the LED voltages and both initially turn on (flash) to ~70v and fall to zero. With LED unplugged, power supply does not come on. Is this normal of the power supply not seeing a load or should the power come on without a load but at higher voltage level?

I have a sharp LC-60LE830u with no back lights but has an image using the flashlight test--the set also has sound. When I unplug the LED connection and test for voltage when I turn the TV on there is a quick voltage reading then nothing. The same thing happens when I isolate half the screen by unplugging the ribbon cable from the t-con board. Half the screen lights up for a second then goes black. There is two ribbon cables coming from the t-con board, and no matter which one I unplug the same thing happens: half the screen lights up for no more than a second then goes out. With both ribbon cables attached and and the LED connector disconnected at the power board, when I (force turn the TV on) I get a one second voltage reading then zero. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm reading around 220 V with the TV on, 89 V with TV off. Is that normal? (LG 39LN5300-UB). I can see the TV menu using a flashlight.

Hi, I have Samsung TV LE37a552P3R and there is a problem with backlight (I can see the picture when i flashlight on the screen). I did some measurments on the power supply board (syg. BN44-00157A) and on the connection CNM804 (it gets signal from logic board) on the pin "24V DET" i got 5,3 V DC. Is it possible that the logic board is bad?
