Dryers with dryness sensors never seem to get clothes really dry. I almost always use time dry or run an auto cycle and add time. Good review, even four years later.
I just bought this set. My dryer was good and dried the clothes well. The only item that had some part of it damp was my King size comforter. But that should be expected. I just took it out, fluffed it up and put it back in. What I like about the dryer is that it will adjust the drying time. So I'll put a load in the dryer for 50 minutes, it'll adjust after a few minutes to let say 30 minutes or 25 minutes. Instead of drying for 50 minutes, it'll dry for 30 minutes but when it stops, the clothes are completely dry. So that's nice. It's pretty much saying, it doesn't require that much time and the machine will adjust for you. The machine recognize how much it need to dry the load. It saves time and energy. As for the sliding door at the top, I personally like that it's plastic and not real stainless steel like the rest of the machine. It's a piece that will require a lot of handling sort of speak. You're constantly pushing it back n forth to open and close it. After a while, it may be susceptible to break. If it does, it will be much cheaper to replace than if it was a real stainless steel slide back. Secondly, it's light in weight. I wouldn't want a heavy metal piece to have to constantly push back all the time. So I prefer it to be plastic. I really like my set. I got it for a steal. I bought it open box, didn't even spend $2000 on the whole thing. It works great . Definitely worth it.
I am coming to an LG Steam washer FL (not exactly like this one) from doing laundry with a Kenmore 90 series to wash, and a Hoover twin tub to rinse and spin. The Kenmore cleans very well, but doesn't spin out at high speed, plus it uses a ton of water. The Hoover allowed me to reuse rinse water to pre-rinse, then a fresh water rinse in the spin can with a high extraction speed. We are on a well and septic, plus a whole house water softener, so I was trying to get clean laundry with a minimum of water. Though it's been a hassle to manage this system, I don't want to waste water. Those with old-style top loaders know what I am talking about. I am tired of wasting so much water and need a better solution. We just picked up an LG steam wash FL with the Sidekick pedestal. Can't wait to use them on laundry day. I love the onboard water heater, the delay start -which will allow me to have TWO loads of laundry ready to hang up when I awake, the ability to add water with the push of a button, the small detergent usage, and all the customizing I can do for each load. But does it clean well enough? We shall see. I still have my Kenmore 90 series on hand just in case. I have dirtier laundry than some do with my mechanic husband's work clothes, and filthy dog towels. It would be great to see a list of what all people have been able to fit into the Sidekick! I am hoping I can at least wash our bedding with one bed sheet and two pillow cases at once.
Well, with you doing the Very Dry setting, it depends on the load size like is their is too little it will dry slower, If you have too much it will dry most cloths, but not all. I fill up my dryer 1/2 to 3/4 the way full just so the cloths can still move around and have the opportunity to dry.
You're right, drying speed is load size dependent. However, I'm not sure why a smaller load would dry slower than a large load - it's less water mass to remove.
I hear you man literally. I have the same hearing as you. I watch a few LG laundry videos from the top load waveforce to the front load twin laundry pair and I hear that same noise that comes from the motor. I'm guessing that the noise comes from the power transferring from the stator to the roter. anyways great video
+V Scott I think the noise is coming from the variable frequency drive controller's carrier frequency. More reading on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable-frequency_drive
Also, we got our LG 726520 and the Sidekick at Lowe's. Both were in the "scratch and dent" discount appliances. Since we bought both, they gave us a steal of a deal: $400 for the FL and $100 for the Sidekick. However, we were missing screws and the measuring cup for the Sidekick. We have all kinds of screws on hand, and the detergent cup for the Sidekick is not a necessity.
Honest review, I like it. Yes the machines are not the best quality. Strong is there marketing. Today you can find better machines with better quality. I have LG to.
I'm 43 and I can hear 15.4khz without any problems! Just RU-vid 15.4khz and see if you can hear that yourself if you wonder if you can! I think MOST people can hear that unless they have hearing problems.
You're right - my old dryer had a moisture sensor in the same location. After running a few steam cycles, I realized that was a steam nozzle, but I forgot to add a correction.
@@DoresoomReviews love washing machines if you watch my channel you will see our UK ones we only have cold water fill only washing machines in the uk and they heat the water themselves same as our dishwashers
Did you (can you) do a video how to switch the doors??? I have the 29” models - I don’t think my doors can switch. But, if they can, I NEED TGEM SWITCHED 🤪
My 10 year old nephew also has this problem when I fire up the backup 2003 tube tv. You'll outgrow the noise around 17... earlier if you attend concerts:) How many litres does the side kick use compared to the main washer?
Top loaders are the true and authentic automatic washer. I actually get more laundry done with my 30+ year old Maytag, and it only takes 30 minutes time to get a load of laundry done, and the dryer takes about 45 minutes to dry a load of clothes.
Yeah, it's a little steep. Also consider that it's replacing a $300 pedestal though. So if you were going to get the pedestal anyway, it's only an additional $350-400 for having a washer instead of a storage drawer.
Doresoom Reviews I know a sears scratch and dent store that sell the pedastool for $25. nothing wrong with them, they just didn't sell in the normal store.
I am building a small house and I am working in the Dominican Republic here they have Limited models of small washers washers they had a sidekick washer do you think that would work as a primary washing machine in a tiny house i'm trying to find something that will fit in a small space ? thank
According to LG, this won't work by itself as a standalone washer - it has to have a full size front loader stacked on top to operate. I suspect it's because this little washer is too light on its own, and an unbalanced load could cause it to walk across the room. The Sidekick washer has a switch on top that must be depressed by a heavy weight for it to operate properly. So when you stack a full size washer on top, the switch is pushed down, and the washer will work. You could probably rig something up to fit over that switch and have enough weight to keep the washer in place. That way you could run it without a washer on top.
+S8 I always run it on very dry, and the temperature setting usually depends how much the fabric can handle. The dryer still has performance issues, even when I run it on high temp. I'm fairly confident the moisture sensor is calibrated wrong, since I've restarted a damp load before and had the dryer shut off and tell me it was done within 10 minutes - when the clothes were still very damp.
Yeah, it still bugs me quite a bit, but closing the laundry room door really helps. High frequencies don't penetrate walls/doors as well as low frequencies do.
have you had any issues with the washer and dryer since 2016 when you uploaded this video? any issues with the front panel/buttons, sensors, inside light, etc?
Still working great, even survived a cross-country move recently. I did have to replace the cold water inlet valve assembly for the main washer, but it was a $20 part and was fairly easy if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. The symptom was the washer was continually filling with water without draining fast enough. If you didn't want to do it yourself and had to hire a service technician, I'd bet it would be $100-200 to repair bill though.

I think I was accounting for the distance required for the 4" dryer vent as well. You could probably shove the washer back a little farther, but then it wouldn't be lined up with the dryer.
@@mrslavanderblu nice, thanks for the reply. I will look at these again. We ended up getting a all in one washer dryer that uses only 120 volts. But have to keep it in our electrical building. Not enough space in our tiny home. I think this unit would fit under our mini fridge perfectly. Just do a load of laundry before going to bed and hang up the cloths to dry in the bathroom. Our loads usually consists of 3 days of clothing for 2 people and we re-wear our jeans unless they get really dirty.
Hmm... I checked and only see the washer, dryer, sidekick, and pedestal listed there individually. Their current total is $3650 without tax or delivery. Did you make the purchase recently, and did you check to make sure the model numbers were the same?
It has been three weeks and no tax and free delivery they look the same I did not go look at the model number but all the features are the same too I love them 😍
I don't really care about the steam function unless I left my clothes in the dryer for a while after they're done drying, and they get wrinkled. Then it's a really nice feature and saves me a trip to the nearest faucet add some water back in and re-tumble.
Haha, not up until a few months ago. I wouldn't know after that, since I uninstalled it because there was no way to turn off notifications. Somehow it was overriding the Android setting that was supposed to disable notifications. So if I started a load right before I went to bed, it would buzz and light up the screen, and keep it lit the rest of the night.
Interesting. I'm in the market for a new set, and the most appealing thing to me about these is the push notification. I cannot tell you how many times I've let clothes or blankets sour because I didn't hear the end-of-cycle alert and forgot about them until the next day. It looks like the app was updated on 6/8/16, so they apparently are working on it. The more recent reviews aren't quite as harsh, so perhaps they're getting their act in order... Time for a ride to best buy or HHGregg to see these things in person.
Well, I pulled the trigger. Same washer, with the sidekick, extra pedestal for the dryer, and the 9cft gas dryer - as a packaged deal on Amazon - free shipping, no tax - $3299... Sure beats spending an evening at the local stores with kids in tow...
You could say that about a lot of things(cars, tv's, phones, etc). I have a 1998 fridgaire and just got a huge water bill after a newborn(cloth diapers) and now I am shopping to save water.
That sucks! You can't watch the sidekick work? You should be able to watch it work during the wash and rinses and pushed in for the spin cycles. Dude you've got super hearing! I couldn't hear anything. Lol!
+CruellaUrsula Yeah, it's kind of puzzling why they gave the Sidekick a transparent lid when it has to be tucked away while it's running for stability purposes. Most people probably won't be able to hear it - the whine is much less pronounced in the video rather than in person, but it's still there. I'll probably lose the ability to hear such high frequencies over the next 5-10 years anyway (I'm 30 now).
hit power on the SideKick then within 1 second hit both bottom selection buttons at the same time and it will kick it into demo mode so you can open the SideKick while it is operating.
It's not a function of heat. The sensor in the dryer determines if the clothes are dry and stops the cycle early. Plus, some clothes require to be dried on low heat.
omg that was stupid. why the hell would you even mention the high pitch sound? its a washer its going to make noise and if the most of us who cant hear it wouldnt matter anyways. you go on it for a while. what a tangent. thumb down
