I tested my V20 and i agree with this.I think it is software bug. When turn off, the movie was more smooth.I wish test again with normal mode.

No, it is no clearer. It just means you can change the exposure value, the white balance and a few other things. It's really useful.

I know that but this guy in video said its blur because of post processing, so I thought it might be more clear in RAW.

Dante Bradley the type of person watching a detailed comparison for top phone cameras is likely interested in photography and video and has no problem setting manual.

I see, thanks for suggesting. I also received a lot of recommendation to choose v20 over those two phones that I mentioned and it's hard to decide hahaha. Well, I'm gonna dig in more suggestions on every channel like this to know which is the most recommended phone to buy.

Hi Adam, can you recall whether "Steady Recording" was on or off? (It seems that the V20 has OIS and EIS (Steady Recording). In my experience, the small shakes and distortion mostly go away when "Steady Recording" is disabled. I wish I knew what scenario that steady recording feature would be ideal for, because so far it just seems to make things worse rather than better.

If you have a Samsung, stick to Samsung and go with the S7 Edge. The V20 steadyshot video stabilization is garbage.

MistPassiert a little bad but not garbage sir. I don't have it, I use a samsung phone but one of my friend bought the v20,for me it was awesome.ofcourse they were issues like some minor lags,too much battery power consumption etc but they will probably fix most of the issues in the next software update soon,I hope.

Syed Arman I just haven't been impressed with the device on the whole. I had the device for a month before the battery life was diminished to the point of literally getting 1:45 of screen on time before the battery was drained to 17% life left. When the screen was off, it was laying flat in a locker at work which should have activated the "doze" feature, saving battery life. Combined with the fact that my video editing software cannot run smoothly on the device (even the replacement device cannot run the software without error), and the V20 is a bust. I upgraded because it was pitched as a device for content creators (I capture, edit, and upload mobile gameplay from my phone, so it's my workstation), and I feel lied to.

MistPassiert i understand,my friend also faced battery problem and some lags on games(because of bad software optimization probably).he is satisfied with his device.lg said they will fix many of these issues on the next software update...v20 may not be better as s7 or s7 edge but it is still a good phone and cheaper.

Syed Arman OMG Great news!!!! I think if LG can remedy many of the issues I have with my device (app functionality issues, freezing inside some apps, lag, etc.) with a GOOD software update, it would increase my satisfaction with the V20 exponentially! I recently did a warranty exchange on my V20, and the new device (and new battery) has been getting MUCH better battery life. I recently got more than 5 hours of screen on time from a full battery charge at 15% battery left. I'm much happier with it since my battery doesn't seem to just disappear instantaneously. If your friend is still having battery issues, I don't know if it is related to the battery or the device, but tell him to consider either replacing the battery or the device. Don't go through LG, though. They told me to send them the battery, then they would send a replacement that would arrive 7-9 business days later. I'm sorry, but more than a week without my phone was unacceptable. I went through my cell carrier to do the warranty exchange and kept my phone while they ordered the replacement. Hopefully LG comes out with the software update very soon.

Being the #2 best phone out of hundreds out there still isn't bad! -Adam

get the v20 it crushes pixel in low light and if " pictures and videos are ur main thing on a phone" u should know how to make use of v20 manual mode which is so cool to work with beside that u get a extra wide range camera ;)

Panino Manino nah v20 is a lot better than v10, you are just saying that to reinsure yourself of holding you back from a great upgrade.

V20 is better than v30 in photography

Great point Alex, we focused on stabilization because that is a huge feature they tout in their marketing. If we had time we totally would of done more in depth video testing. -Adam

Great points. Though I didn't say the camera was horrible at all, as a matter of fact it came in a close second to the Pixel and actually beat it in many scenarios, which is an impressive feat! So yes, it can take even better photos in manual mode, and saying it's the second best smartphone camera I've tested out of all of the major players in the field is great. -Adam

Really good point Levi, but this test wasn't an overall review of the camera (that was in the full article), this was just for 1 specific scenario which was auto mode since that is how most people use it. -Adam

IDG.tv Both the Pixel & the iPhone have HDR on by default. For a fairer comparison, don't you tbink that the LG should have been tested with HDR mode on?

I've also noticed overly aggressive noise reduction in my V20 shots. Jack, do you know a way to turn the noise reduction down?

We actually did shoot scenarios with high dynamic range settings but spoiler, none of them did that great and I didn't find much to really say about the results. What I find more interesting is this push by companies to not only stitch together exposure information but also use detail and color information from either multiple captures of multiple lenses. Huawei is doing some interesting things with their cameras along these lines as well. -Adam

IDG.tv interenting. I'm sure if the Pixel had HDR+ turned ON (not auto) the results would be a lot better. HDR+ auto is not as good as HDR+ ON on the Pixel for some reason (probably speed). It would be interesting to see a comparison between all of them with HDR turned ON.

@UngoveredReason we tried to make clear in the video that our approach to the camera was to review it as comparably to the other cameras as possible. As the other cameras do not have manual controls, it's not really possible to do a "fair" comparison of those features. We do note that the manual controls set the V20 far apart from the others in terms of feature value, and rate it accordingly.

IDG.tv I was distracted by "best for content creation". I take that to mean professionally knowlegable film makers and photgraphers, neither of which would resort to any auto setting. It was the best comparison I have seen though. No problem with the video. Just not what I was looking for.

But to be fair LG seems to be saying it's the best for content creation *for* that reason, so not testing it on auto mode was a little disappointing, sure maybe the iphone type user may not use manual, but anyone who wants an experience even slightly tweakable will sometimes find it can take better photos if you just take the time, which i understand isn't always the greatest thing ever, but i have yet to see a camera shoot out that actually uses manual mode to even a small extent, still great video, but not what i was expecting

Dante Bradley But LG V20 seems to be targeting power users/photographers so probably about 60 - 70% of power users _will_ use it, It takes like 5 seconds to tweak some stuff to make the photo look way better. As some reviewer put it, it's like someone who brags about having a great DSLR camera, but always uses auto mode. Why have the phone decide what's the best settings when you can use the manual settings to stylise and improve your photos, in a *_very_* short amount of time

John Doe Yes, I get that. But this video is for those who just take out their phones and snap a pic/selfie. The other phones are great out of the box. The LG phone...not so much. 5 seconds is a lifetime when it comes to capturing a moment. Hopefully LG fixes these minor issues in an update. This phone has more than enough potential.

I found no option to disable OIS, but you can disable EIS ("Steady Recording") which seems to solve much of the shaky footage and distortion.

It's a bit confusing to read on paper, but using a gyro to feed info to your EIS isn't the same thing as encapsulating the sensor/lens in a floating gyro. LG is touting that they have EIS and DIS working together with a gyro but it's not the same as a true OIS. -Adam

My V20 is blurry in the background due to overly aggressive noise-reduction as well. Potato, do you know of a way to disable or turn the noise-reduction down?

I find that the software problems of the camera or should i say the phone generally is a thing with many Android phones. Quite partically LG. As also seen with the LG V10. You guys should compare it with the V10 when you revisit it.
