Cynthia Nyamai, Dr. Wahome Ngare and David Kuria in this panel interview tackle the topic of LGBTQ. Can one be Christian and gay? What part has the media played in pushing this agenda?
Glad to see this issue being discussed in religious congregations. However a few details stuck out for me: 1. Studies have shown that psychosocial trauma in childhood doesn't contribute to one's sexual orientation. This we know because children raised in loving and caring families are just as likely to identify as gay or lesbian as are children from troubled backgrounds. (Source: Nelson Textbook of Paediatrics) 2. Intersex people don't have a disability. 3. If you're going to discuss matters pertaining to the LGBTQ+ community, let them be the ones telling their own story, not heterosexuals. It's their story to tell. As pope Francis says, the church needs to listen.
1. Not true, may not be the case for everyone, but childhood trauma does contribute to one's sexual orientation, as does adult trauma. 2. Agreed. 3. Absolutely, the lgbtqia should at least be involved in these kinds of discussions. I get that this discuss is about the church's policy, but it's only logical to listen to the people in a situation about their situation. I don't even know how I stumbled on this, this is a debate in a conservative African church, yes?
@@kush1775 "In instrumental variable models, history of sexual abuse predicted increased prevalence of same-sex attraction by 2.0 percentage points (95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.4, 2.5), any same-sex partners by 1.4 percentage points (95% CI = 1.0, 1.9), and same-sex identity by 0.7 percentage points (95% CI = 0.4, 0.9) (Roberts, Glymour & Koenen, 2014). The study by Sellami et al. (2020) on homosexual and heterosexual adults in Tunisia also identified that "The childhood trauma total score was 49.6 in the homosexual group and 35.0 in the heterosexual group, which is a statistically significant difference (p = 0.001)." We cannot ignore the role of trauma in one's sexual orientations.
As a mom raising a son, I've learned a lot. I thought at my age I knew at least somewhat...but I actually don't. Quite enlightening discussion. Thank you to the panelists for having such a candid discussion.
I have been educated......the history of media...the great wisdom and teaching from a medical point of view from Dr. Wahome...wow!! Thank you guys for this 👏👏 I hope there's a PART 2
Thank you for sharing this video. David Kuria is right, the indoctrination is already in public schools in the US and as a parent, I always talk to my children about authentic sexuality. Thank you, Dr Kuria for educating us and providing clarity on this topic.
What a wonderful message coming to us at a time when Paul's message in Romans 1:24 is gradually taking root in our generation. Thank you to Nairobi Chapel and the panelists for talking openly, confidently, and with grace from the Lord about this topic. You have earned a new subscriber.
My God!! This is exactly what we need to see in all media channels, online, everywhere. We are living in a time where lawlessness is the norm. The Church in Kenya needs to speak up like this amazing team! God bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s continue to tell the truth in love to save this generation from God’s wrath
This is great. Very insightful and mind opener. It's time we embrace such open talks in our churches if we have to save our generation from the enticement of the cunning serpent
I don't see why it is called LGBTQ panel when there's no LBBTQ representative. 2.The fact that you are even talking about it.That's the advocacy we need from you.
This is not the only panel discussing the issue , the internet is full of such foryms , its not 1 fit for all . This is from the chirch. am sure you could constitute one and include all ... it would be a learning platform . meanwhile lets learn to pick the lessons and affirm efforts
I have seen a childhood friend, come out as gay....one thing we observed since we were young boys who still didn't understand sexuality in full, he usually was comfortable with the company of young girls, most of his friends were female....he was comfortable playing more "female games", and mostly "behaved" like a girl......this was a small boy. This has overly disturbed my mind, we saw him behave "girly" since he was a young boy; 1. Was it by design or was he born that way? 2. If he was born that way, was/is there hormonal differences with the other straight young boys? 3. If by design, did he choose to behave that way when we still didn't know anything about sexuality?...In our society today and ever before, i see young girls behave "boyish" hence pick the name tomboy....does this relate someway to Gayism?...Scientist please help, religion will not explain this because religion is a way of living, it doesn't explain some things in the society!
You make a good point, whereas some people choose this path, there are others who are predisposed because of a hormonal imbalance. Also those with both genitals but looking one way...its complex..I will never judge
Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” God love ALL humans, he loathes anti-humanity organizations (Romans 1:26-32) These organizations, such as Sodom, Nazi, CCP, drug cartels, human traffickers, organ harvesters, genocide performers, are the true meanings of “men committed shameful acts with other men.” Don’t take Romans 1:26-27 out of context and use it to attack gay people. It has nothing to do with gays. LGBTQ+ are humans. Churches attack them are anti-humanity organizations too. Don’t be fooled by Satan’s teachings and explanations. He wants to turn churches into anti-humanity organizations for sure. In Christianity, marriage is holy. It’s a spiritual covenant between two souls. It’s sad to see churches today define marriage as physically as a union between a male body and a female body adopted from unbelievers.
the embelishment in the converstion to demean lgbtqi is fragrant! the information given is good and powerful but from one point of view...different voices ought to have been included. above all God is Good....
I have learnt so much in one hour watching this. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge. Thanks be to God. "Did God really say..... " - a narrative that is as old as the garden events where humans first meet SATAN in Genesis 3. If we don't really understand who SATAN is, then we will always succumb to His craftiness in every generation. SATAN is everyone's enemy. His very nature is against truth. John 8:44
IF you talk about a community you need to have on of them on the panel. It's not only from trauma that one is gay please get someone from the actual community..
@@becomingchannel9674 you also aren’t listening to learn, how can you learn from something that’s not authentic? Have someone from the community and actually LEARN about them not what someone says about them. That’s actually learning, not arguing.
manze you have reminded me of the ridiculous last season of Designated Survivor. Btw, Kal Penn came out as gay the other day..... Detest anything from the cast nowadays for that betrayal of what was previously a wholesome show.
I have been there before ie I was molested by a high school teacher ie a Mathematics and a Chemistry teacher it was traumatic I know how it feels I could committed suicide by the grace of God I survived by Steve Irungu Jermaine
Chapel watchers if you die today will you go to heaven? Have you ever lied, stolen, hated, used God's name as a curse word (O-M-G)? According to God's law, you're guilty, your headed for hell, ignorance will not be an excuse... But wait, God loves you, he made a way out for you, God's son Jesus died paying for your sin. God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Love Y'all
@wairimu Eve... Makes the two of us... The fact that he had to spread misinformation calmly and eloquently is disturbing... It would make everyone that went through sexual traumas gay then...huh!
Cleverly labelled but still enforcing the usual stance churches have about those who are different. The host and speakers are very careful to tow the church line.
May the spirit of discernment rule here, if it doesn't Glorify God's Kingdom then it not worth your attention or love as my learned friend qoutes here..as a researcher , kindly research on the influence of jews on media and all this stuff, love should not be equated for tolerance..let truth stand tall no matter what. AS A BODY OF CHRIST , LETS NOT BE DECEIVED ITS RIGHT THING TO BE PART OF LGBTQ, WHY focus more on RIGHTS..as acclaimed by this movements while forgetting the issue of morals and consequences.
It's LGBTIQ. THERE IS AN "I". standing for Intersex. Currently over 4000 persons in Kenya are BORN Intersex. I don't know if you'd preach for or against them.
For intersex, the discussion was very clear that we need it in law and are already protected in law so as to facilitate change to the gender they identify with once it becomes prevalent esp in their puberty.
Oh My God, this must be all over other medias, citizen tv, ntv all everything.... Our generation is completely finished, most of the youths from universities and college and now even highschool are completely gays.... without put this on table we wont make it, and it seems like the world is going to an end.
@@Goshenite. then you have to ignore your feelings...every feeling that doesn't align with the Bible. Its literally the whole point of religion. Watastruggle(Christian but gay) but in the end must confide with the Bible.
@@jaystone5036we have to control our actions / not because we feel to do something that make it right to do/ if we feel to steel r I'll treat our wife do not make it right
Brethren, let's go back to Bible. Our opinions, media perception, etc etc do not matter...only what our Father who art in heaven says and pleasing Him by keeping His commands. Remember.......1 Cor 3:19....For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” Who are we to hold a debate, symposium, or forum to discuss God's requirements of us to be deemed Holy in his presence. Further to quote "men" and their philosophies, research, studies, or what have you. Deut 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you. Ecc 3:14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
Praise YHWH, it is all about submitting to Him, die to desires, carry own cross and follow Him. Sensual, intellectualized chat based on people's precepts harm growth in Spirit. Careful these last days many will come with feel good to listen talks. Be very wary these last days.
You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.
It would have been better to have them respond with strictly bible verses and not opinions/narratives. It is so so unfair to just blanket a group of people and say things like "they suffered some form of trauma and that's why they are the way they are" I don't understand LGBTQ people completely but I know how it feels for narratives to be created about me because I am different. It's something that has been done to black people for so many years " they are violent" "studies have shown that black people are lazy" these are statements that have been made from a point of ignorance. Anyway my point is just be sensitive, you cant possibly know how it feels to be LGBTQ unless you are one yourself. Stick to bible verse and avoid spreading unconfirmed narratives.
The host and speakers are very careful to tow the church line. It is simple INTOLERANCE wrapped up cleverly in so many words. God's word is steadfast - we know that, but this "panel" has gone OUT OF ITS WAY to dismiss an entire experience of people.
You know...this will prompt many victims of sexual abuse in happy hetero marriages to come out and then the narrative will change again. Point is, if you are religious the Bible is clear, no homosexuality and dont throw stones. When churches discuss this, in the end they will conform to the Bible. This is more of human sense.
Dr. I would to differ with u that some are inborn, some do it for money and also as u said childhood experiences. But for instance u can notice and inborn right at the early age a baby girl playing with boys, love to dress like a boy from loving football , everything is boyish n same to baby boy wearing shirt tops walks like a girl plays with dolls n dressing up the dolls, doing some catwalks everything girlish...no one can change that.n that when a parent realises something bis amiss.
Where are heading to when church starts to talk about these issues. God's word is very explicit on this topic and lending audience to it is a disservice. Genesis 19, Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 Timothy 1:10. The church is going rogue if such content get audience. Stand by God's word and admonish what is evil. You should talk on important matters such as how corruption is finishing the country, how youths can better their lives amid the high unemployment rate. FOCUS CHURCH. BE BOLD.
It may not be an issue to you,but this is actually happening so much nowadays and we need such people to help others heal and come out of such a life style...
@@christineochuchi7448 The speaker put it that the gay couples have higher chances of divorce than heterosexual couples. If that's the case, heterosexuals have argued that their companion is God's design why is there divorce in heterosexuals? My point is you find the person you are compatible with yourself and gay people find it with people of same sex.
@@Esther_N To be honest, It'd be more engaging if there was some form of representation from the LGBTQ community rather than just hearing from one perspective. Seeing it as an ISSUE to be part of the LGBTQ community sadness me.
@@jeccym8715 the lgbt created the word straight, heterosexual and cis and more. And you told the world we were and are a cancer to your lives. Take responsibility for the shit you created.
9:00 When he called "gay" a self-label, I laughed! Cleverly labelled but still enforcing the usual stance churches have about those who are different. The host and speakers are very careful to tow the church line.
You expected the church to curse and insult them? Do you know that even HIV positive people used to be judged by the church until the church realized that that was a wrong approach? Not even Jesus would do that. I'm sure you haven't watched the entire video. Please do.
