Glad you enjoyed. Thanks to all who dropped in to watch live! The chat was admittedly a bit insane with a couple hundred people unleashed at once, but hey, this is a learning process.
Hey man. I love your videos. Keep up the great work. Ditto your "Duke Nukem 3D review" last year as well as acknowledging its 20th year anniversary!! :D. Loved your "Doom 1993" and "Doom 2016" reviews too!! :D
Congrats to you for beating this level, again! I never could finish this level. I tried many times but eventually just gave up out of frustration. I enjoy you commentaries and reviews as well. Keep up the good work :)
You gotta be kidding ! Thanks LGR, you really know how to bring back those crazy memories for me. This really rules, and so do you. Long Live Lazy Game Reviews!
I'm even more glad I subscribed to this channel seeing he streamed my favorite and all time classic first person shooter in 2012, pretty much back when I was playing it on my N64. Wished I would of liked twitch or whatever platform this was on. I've been on RU-vid this whole time
I guess this is my favorite first person shooter of all time.. Thanks for sharing this fun and entertaining let's play. The memories are vast, so I watch the entire vid. Glad I did. Please make more let's plays ( except from The Sims games ) :)
Can´t get enough of your Duke impersonation. Couldn´t watch it yesterday cause I finally got to play Ascendancy after so many years. Hell 4 hours can really go by in 15 minutes.....
Lunar Apocalypse is my personal favorite. Besides the huge change of scenery, I really dig that creepy atmosphere and feeling of isolation. Darkside is probably my favorite map in the game with Abyss a close second.
My thoughts exactly. Especially the 'isolation' feeling of this episode and how lonely yet engagingly surreal it feels in the map of "Darkside". The music for that map's my all-time favourite in this GROUNDBREAKING FPS CLASSIC!!!! :D.
I dig the mystery and overall creepiness of Abyss. It also implies there's some kind of cult that could be helping the aliens. Some great moments of Darkside was the morgue and the finale at the monolith. There's also the transport cars. The way the glide so fast and silently while you listen to the level's music feels so foreboding.
+mcgibs Yes I really dig that mystery too. I wonder how ppl back in 1996 first playing "DN3D" felt when they made that discovery of "The Abyss" turning out to be the first boss map. I just love how it comes out of nowhere. I kinda have story about that. Back then, when I was little and playing this game, I didn't get too far in Episode 1 (died a lot in Death Row....lol that sounds like a weird joke of sorts) but as I played "Duke Nukem 64", my brother and I found cheats on the internet for that game and we level elected passed "Death Row.....
I bought this game back in December on GOG, I was on the fence about it, but after hearing you praise the game so much, I bought it for really cheap and I'm glad I did. I just finished episode 2 and now I'm watching to see what I missed while playing.
1:18:30 I related news, since the word "fart" in Swedish (and Danish) means "speed" in English, guess what our speed bumps are called. Yep, and because of our word concatenation rules, it becomes: Fartbump. Similarly, the lines you draw after a cartoon character that is moving fast, are called "fartstriber" (with "striber" meaning "stripes"). Also, guess what you get if you're caught speeding: you get a "fartbøde", "bøde" meaning "fine".
Man, you rock. I have never been good with games, but when I see DOS games, or Atari or Commodore, I feel like I am alive again. I've mostly considered computers for MIDI applications, but hey, nothing beats to see cool PC game that doesn't use that dreaded Windex OS :) of which the interface really looks like something that was designed for toddlers, not for grown people, honestly
They're practically harmless, but god damn do they mess with me. Whenever I run into a nest full of eggs I always go out of my way to blow them all up as fast I can before they hatch. The possessed hands from Blood however, they don't creep me out as much but they're dangerous as hell.
+mcgibs Yeah in "Blood", I find those hands scarier than the slimers. The way they literally get a hold of you too is IMO scary as hell. I never found the slimed on the screen scary at all to be honest. But those slimer replacement and redone sprites (tentacle slimers or whatever) in "DNF 2013" mod are IMO scary. Especially when they're on the screen chewing away Duke's face. I think it has to do with they're screeching noises and also the graphic animation of them on Duke's face (First-Person perspective view of course)
Apart from squishy gibs, also shooting shit through portals was hilarity, nothing else that I know does that I remember co-op'ing and we're just killing each other at E2L1's spawn LOL
Yup, also in Manhattan Project. Saving the babes was a good addition, strange that they got rid of it for Duke Nukem Forever. Well, a whole list of things were strange choices for DNF, but yeah.
+Bluehawk2008 I love your theory. It makes a ton of sense if that were the actual reason behind those alien bastards whom are gonna pay for shooting Duke Nuken's ride! :D
I'm playing through this episode and I'm glad I selected a lowe difficulty (unless you're also playing on Let's Rock). It's hard enough as is. The enemies in this stage are very annoying; a drone that rams Duke and explodes, those lizard things with heat scan machine guns that are weak to slow firing shotguns, and an abundance of battle lords with heat scan weapons. Amazing how they got away with that.
Man you are getting to be a famous figure. 17k people watching ur live stream. Was fun to watch, but i waitet 3 hours for it, not ur fault thou. Damn time zones. When I watched the first part of the first part, I thought that you would be like the most awsome player ever..... That thought was crushed pretty fast :P but still fun to watch. I would love a stream of Diablo or diablo 2, that would be awsome. Please do it, and its my birthday to day :D no joke
19:10 - That's why I always save right at the start of each level, then use an additional slot for saving my progress through the level. It's too easy to die in games and lose all the stuff you've picked up previously.
Man, the Adlib music sounded so different, now I remember why I thought the music sounded newer or more clear on the 360 port when it came out. I used to play with adlib music I guess.
Holy shit, all this time I had no idea about that Enterprise easter egg. I remember hearing that "con" sound asset in isolation somewhere else (maybe in a NUKE IT level, or something) and wondering where he says it in the game.
In both Zero Hour and 64 you could save the babes, though. Which, honestly, was a great feature and improvement. It was another thing to be on the look out for to get maximum, and it fit the Duke persona. He saves chicks.
I was 12 when I got this game, too! Fuck yea man this was the greatest thing ever. I got the box set with the addon packs as a birthday gift... Oh man those were the days.
Haha, yes there were over 17,000 people there, most of them typing rapidly into an undersized chat window. Totally worth it! Keep up the good reviews... :)
Alevam-Inc. Duke Nukem 3D and Serious Sam have to be the most unique FPS games out there. I love DOOM, but that love doesn't match the love I have for those two games.
I hope there wasn't a problem with the recording for ep3. I watched to the end but missed parts here and there. We all appreciate the trouble you went through getting the livestream to work for our entertainment. :)
When your done with the livestreaming series you should try and play Duke nukem 3D death match online , apparently there's some pretty good mods/conversions to get it working :)
I think it's because DNF is meant as a straight sequel to Duke 3D, so none of the games in between are part of its canon and it takes more inspiration from Duke 3D than any of the games made by other developers.
I don't understand the "I don't have three hands" argument to why the N64 controller is bad. You hold two of the limbs based on the game you're playing. If you're using the stick, you don't use the D-pad or L button. If you're using the D-pad, you don't use the stick or the Z button. What is so hard to grasp about this? There's one exception i can think of where you use the stick AND the D-pad, it's a minigame in Pokemon Stadium, where (you guessed it) you don't use A, B, C, or R!
You know, last night I was playing DNF and I found another reference I never found before. Right at the beginning of the 3rd chapter 'Vegas in Ruin" next to the first blockade with the turret. There's a fire hydrant that you can destroy and it'll shoot out water that you can drink like in DN3D.. of course you don't get health from it. : /
AWW sucks that I missed this live. The one day I don't check your twitter feed. I hope you do this again, perchance with flight simulator? Something oddly fascinating about watching other people play that.
Am I the only person who enjoyed playing Duke Nukem Forever? I've heard people constantly bash it and saying its a disgrace, and I just don't get why. I found it a decent game, it had some flaws, sure, but they could be overlooked and I've definately played much worse games. Anyway, great gameplay, LGR. Your Duke Voice rivals Jon St. John. :D
You didn't play on Come Get Some? Are you a teeny baby? Also I'm playing SW on Dosbox too and I was wondering if you had any tips on how to stop the screen tearing.
