Hearing LGR bemoan the loss of charm in The Sims 3 makes me sad knowing what is to come. Little did he know then that The Sims 3 was filled to bursting with charm compared with The Sims 4... :(
@@helldronez It's just unfortunate that, in my opinion, you need to pay like $200 to do so. And I still prefer the Sims 3, it's got a ridiculous amount of customization without modding.
@@helldronez I know i am late but i remember back when the sims 4 first came out in 2014, i remember alot of old player (myself included) were furious that there are no toddler, pool. What's worse to this day still there are no cars or even carpool.
@@wojakthecrusader1410 The Sims 4 is just beyond saving at this point, in my eyes at least. And I can hardly believe EA basically confirmed there will be YEARS more of The Sims 4. They add more and more to the game, but it never stops feeling lifeless and charmless.
Why is it, this music, the whistle, and the sounds from this game always make me feel so happy and hopeful.. This was the beginning of a long costly addiction!!
lol 16 years and too many expansions to count and I am still playing all 4 games... I think they need to incorporate all the good from the 3 games and put into this 4th one.. I miss the music.. I miss the paperboy whistling... from the first game... Sometimes I just go back to Sims 1... lol
Dear god, I remember the 'Danger' music used to scare the shit out of me when I was younger. Didn't help with the fact that I played late at night, too.
I was so sharp with a routine. I could manage a family. 1) Sleep for energy 2) Eat for hunger 3) Shower for hygiene 4) VR Headset for Fun 5) Library to build a skill Speed up to 3x Repeat. Even straight from their job When we got the robot to do stuff for us, it cleaned and prepared the food. Saved me a step in my Sims routine. I miss this original. I'm still have the Expansion Packs. I'm going to re-install them NOW :)
Haha, I was laughing so hard, especially at the end. I convinced my parents to buy me this game as a secret plot to have our computer updated. I was still on a P1 166 32MB RAM at the time, which was below the minimum requirements for the game. It still ran, sort of, but my constant moaning about how their gift didn't work quite correctly convinced them to buy the family a new computer a few months later. Muahaha.
My childhood! Back in the day when the internet was dial-up (AOL) and that we couldn't go on the internet and the phone on the same time and I was only allowed 1 hour on the internet. When I couldn't go on the internet no more I'd play The Sims :') many many hours a day :')!
I know, it’s late, buuut... It was because you wake them before they get enough sleep or because they didn’t have enough “active” points in their personality. Sims with 8 points or higher would just pop outta bed.
I found a copy of the sims complete collection which had everything including all exp packs and it was only £2 in a charity shop and it works perfectly and It comes with four discs to install the complete game with exp packs. :D
I love how they incorporated the Sims 1 music in the elevators of Sims 3 Late Night (can't remember if they had the music in the Sims 2 Open for Business elevators) Brings me back, even though I have the complete Sims 1 and 2 collection on my computer.. good times.
I mean considering that they have the Sims 2 collection for such a small price nowadays (or free) and the Sims 1 is no longer sold in stores, I don't see why not.
You can actually see the gradual decline in charm from Sims to Sims 4 just by looking at the game logos: The Sims has a logo which is also a house. Cute, lovely and full of charm! The Sims 2 didn't have the house but at least got a plumbbob over/on the letter i. The Sims 3 put a giant plumbbob behind the logo instead and at least had a nicely shaded number 3. The Sims 4... They basically wrote "The Sims 4" in a slightly Simsy font and stuck a plumbbob next to it. Feels about as charming as everything I've heard/read about Sims 4 (haven't played it), or in other words, about as charming as the rest of EA these days.
+Redhotsmasher Meh, I don't know. I feel like The Sims 3 is what made the game supremely over complicated. It was still fun, but less "charming" than the first two. The Sims 4 scales the game back to the simplicity of the first game and is better for it. Probably the only thing that sucks the charm out is how blatant EA is now with their DLC and money-grubbing ways.
Yes. The change of font for The Sims 4 logo has definitely made it distant from The Sims 2 & 3, and thus, from the entire franchise. Maybe that's what they were going for, I don't know...
Well how do you know its bad if you haven't played it? I actually did play the 48 hour demo and i was really surprised at how much more true and similar it was to the older sims games that i so much enjoyed more than the sims 3... And i actually play the sims 4 over sims 3 today because sims 3 just felt like a heartless knock-off of the sims that tried too hard and failed miserably (Like with the open town but even that they fucked up when there was nothing to do in the town because of the "Rabbit holes")
You don't say. I don't recall there only being ONE correct way to play a sandbox game... in fact, the exact opposite being true is the game's very nature.
Because I'm pretty obsessive-compulsive over building them and that takes time to get right. Time is at a premium with these types of videos, because I want to show a lot of stuff and still keep it under 30 minutes or so.
I remember when I first saw my parents' old Atari games when I was kid, I made fun of the little ping-pong paddles and pixelated games. My son, who is now four, saw this and couldn't believe that I used to play, as he said, "this weird-looking game". And my parents just laughed, and laughed... It makes me wonder what he'd say if I showed him Clay Fighters.
I was so excited for that game. I thought it looked a lot like a mixture of SC3K, Sims 1, and Sim Town. I was soooo disappointed when I found out it went from "TBA" to "Cancelled"
picked up this game again recently for the lols, haven't played it since a kid and back then all i really did was cheat, build big-ass houses and kill my sims with fire and latters (or lack there off). Trying to play it legit and reaching the top of a career is so hard. So much more challenging than the newer games. Though, it is quite a pain having to gather 15 friends to get the last promotion. How you would even do this without hot date and public lots is beyond me.
Lol I did the exact same stuff when I played as a kid. And yeah even now I don't have the will power to get my sim to the top of their career. Not only is 15 friends a lot to make but I swear it is way harder to actually make friends.
I did actually get to the top of the Music career, but an annoying feature in the sims 1 is that everyday after work you have a chance to randomly pick a different career track, starting you all over again. So you gotta save every day at work.
Yes, EA bought Maxis in 1997, but they didn't start plastering their logos all over the games they published until about 2002 with their "EA Games - challenge everything" initiative. The first release of The Sims had no EA logo on the front of the box, but later prints did.
Once again, you manage to bring back so many memories for me LGR! Just hearing the o so familiar music.. it makes me weep with nostalgia. I also remember writing the most dramatic and long-ass bio's for my sims when I created them. Awesome video!
They did, although unfortunately it's not complete. A selection of 15 tracks are available from the game on The Sims Original Video Game Soundtrack released in 2007. Though you can also just open the files in the "Music" folder on the game CD.
this game taught me the fastest way to earn money was to befriend the nearest woman, trick her into marriage, have her work out in a room with no doors until she dies, then collect her money. just like real life!
just found the deluxe version in the big box with the manual at a local thrift store. it was missing the disc 1 but the store also had the cd cased version with both discs plus also had house party. got all three :) for 3 bucks
Can just imagine being a neighbor to this sim and them looking out their window at him with all his belongings in his yard. lol Our crazy neighbor. I like the simple animations as well, like he set that plate on the grass and then scratched his butt while he's in his pajamas.
Back then when this Sims 1 started, Sims 1 gave me the biggest nightmares, I don't know why but whenever my sister was playing it I just had to run away and she be like "What the hell is wrong with her??". They were so skinny and scary lol :) Good to bring back memories.
I'm 14 and a half now and I started playing this game when I was 6. When I was 10 I finally got the sims 2 and now I'm begging for a new laptop and the sims 3 for Christmas.. And good laptops that are under $500 that play the sims 3 well? My friend had a dell and it worked awesome but she forgets which one it was
Do they no longer sell games? I remember back in school, we had all sorts of games for sale from those book sale things that came for the week. Of course, that was twenty years ago...
I played this so much when I was young (considering I was like 5 when it came out). I owned every expansion and loved the shit out of it, so watching this is making me all giddy and nostalgic :)
Man, I feel old while watching this. I remember playing the Sims when I was 6 years old and I am 17 now.(My mom introduced it to me as a 'barbie dollhouse game' in which "barbie" *sim* can actually water plants or something xD) I actually missed playing this one mostly because of how 'un-laggy' the game was hahaha. And, well, brings back memories. It makes me sad to think of what happened to Sims 4 for some reasons :/
Ah I remember this channel, I think I watched some various videos from here years ago, and now as I start to watch some of the original Sims' videos, I see that you've uploaded a bunch of stuff covering The Sims and some of its main expansion packs! I'll have to invest in the amount of time it'll take to watch them all, or just watch a couple at anytime I'm on RU-vid :P But yeah, seeing all these videos of The Sims makes me want to find all of my own copies so that I can play it again, if only I knew where they were buried in my room :( haha!
I have my Sims 1 games from when I was a kid. I really want to play them again, but I can't get them to work in any computer. I don't have the old ones and I guess our other two are too new for the games. Does someone know another way to get them to work?
I used to play Sims 1 back in the days - before 2006 - then Sims 2 and Sims 3 too. Never tried Sims 4. Should I try out Sims 1 again? Watching these videos is really tempting me to do so... (I temporarily got back into Sims 3 when seeing all the mods for it, and all the videos people made)
I have the Complete Collection but it's 2018 and i'm still waiting for GOG to hook us up with a shiny digital version. It's been on a wishlist for years now... I still have hope!
Man this was the 1st Sims game I played back in 2009 or 2010 I started I was like 7 or 8 so it was GREAT. Except all cheats make me lazy so my skills at keeping their needs up have dropped. But thinking the game being called Dollhouse 1.2.3.and 4 feels strange.
