In case anyone wants to know what happened at 32:45, toxic barrels sometimes spawn a toxic puddle underneath them when destroyed. The protective boots can protect against them, but since LGR didn't have any and only 1 health, well...
I would LOVE to see an updated playthrough of this from you. Besides updated quality in the capture, it's always a pleasure to hear your Duke commentary!
years later and for the celebration of 9 years of LGR im re-watching some of my fav videos from you man and your Duke Nukem 3D playthrought its always a must, and strangely i never noticed you said "I got balls of fail" that its a line Duke says on Duke Nukem Forever if he loses in the pinball machine, not sure if DNF was released when this live stream got out or it was before the release of DNF but if it was the second one, damn Gearbox just put that in there as a homage prehaps? who knows hehehehe.
Love the tv in the bar with the OJ white Bronco chase scene. At the time that was awesome. hell even being able to move the pool balls was awesome. FUN TIMES!
I really love how you played this using the soundblaster music, Clint. I grew up with that music card choice. Ditto how you barely saved because I'm like that too with this game. You are awesome and your PC collection is to die for. I remember when I actually did have this game (episodes 1-3 registered) on the cd-rom and ohhhh man do I miss the 90s lol. It was sweet to actually spot Shadow Warrior in a Wal-Mart when I was young. Man I miss those days.
+Stefan Poirier Glad im not the only one that noticed that. The soundblaster music was the best. All the other versions i have heard sound terrible compared to the one using soundblaster.
The connection between Duke 3D and Chrono Trigger, in the future you get carried by a giant claw machine in the robot factory. That's probably what they were talking about.
Wow, it's a double blast from the past. First, well, Duke Nukem 3D! Second, that old mod that you used for your old intro making that unexpected appearance. It was almost poetic that you got unexpected nostalgia (your old intro assets) in your deliberate nostalgia (this play-through). :)
Nice LGR mod! Anyway, I enjoy pretty much all your reviews and I thought I'd comment this time just to say so. Awesome job and always fun to watch. Thanks for sharing!
I couldn't believe that was you doing Duke's voice at first. That was uncanny. My favorite copy of this game was actually the Nintendo 64 version. They just did enough to it that it seemed new and the controls made it fun. I do own it on PC, 360, etc etc though. Love this damn game. So freaking classic.
Great game, played it to death. When i got fed up I started messing with the sound files like recording new ones or slowing them down etc. :D Also the guns modifiers where fun to screw around with.
lgr you impersonate Duke Nukem almost perfectly its great i grow up with Duke Nukem 3d it was my first egoshooter and i still play it today Duke made my childhood complete my friend had it on a cd rom from england because in germany this game is still forbidden to sale i played the hwhole day with him this game my mother stilll not know what i played back then with 12 years nice memorys of a good time hail to the king baby
Corey DeWalt So THATs why there is no babe meter, I was confused since DN64 was the first one I played. I wonder if that one falls under censorship or additional content, though to me it makes Duke a bit more akin to action movie heroes to save the damsels/babes.
You are awesome at this game. I love this game it is one of my favourite 1st person shooter. I like the Sega Saturn version which I still own. The original PC version is probably the bes though. I love the humour in this game. "Hail to the king baby!". Thanks for the upload brought back some great memories.
I just played through this bad boy for the first time tonight. you blew my time out of the water. apparently i suck :P I am glad i picked it up from steam. It was a good buy.
Nam, aka. Napalm, is a quasi-decent Build engine game. It had a half-hearted spin-off called WWII GI. It had "friendly AI" that did nothing, and scripted artillery barrages called by radio, and other silly stuff that didn't work well in a 2.5D game.
Somebody should make a "best of" compilation of phreakindee playing the three episodes. It's all fun to watch but there's some solid gold comedy here and there.
This was probably mentioned but in earlier versions of the game you *could* use both the quick kick and mighty boot at the same time. It was pretty funny the first time you see it.
I think the HRP is far more superior. Eduke is also good for Mod management and other thinks. I always use the the Megaton Edition with Add-On, DukePlus & the XXX Pack. Can't wait that they implent the new 5th episode. I already played it on the Aniversary Edition. Because new Duke Nukem Content, can it get better? They also fixed the Multiplayer with their Source Port. But in other ways, the Source Port is pretty shitty. Eduke32 far more sophisticated and useful.
You sound more like Duke than Jon St. John in Duke Nukem Forever. I can barely tell the difference between your voice and the game's! By the way, did you know there's a fan made Duke Nukem Forever coming out this month? It looks absolutely fantastic!
I remember doing the Liu Kang bicycle kick in this game back in the days. Just select kick as the main weapon instead of a firearm and hit the tilde key while you use kick in rapid succession. If you decide to play this game again try it out. It's pretty fun lol.
