Warren Buffet’s sidekick Charlie Munger once said, “show me the incentives and I’ll show you the results.” His logic is simple when the incentives are misaligned so too are the outcomes.
Banking is a sector that proves his point where so many people are rewarded for exploiting society. But what if our overall economic incentives are also skewed? What if the way our economics have evolved now punishes those who want to do what’s right and rewards those who do wrong?
Cambridge economist and author of License To Be Bad, Dr. Jonathan Aldred, met up with Renegade Inc. to discuss these issues.

When I was schooled to be a CEO I was taught that it's not enough to look after the health of the enterprise. Like a farmer with his fields you had to look after the health of the market as well. Today corporations operate more like raiders taking what they can grab and leaving the market devastated. Soil with out nutrients which has to be fertilized over and over again with advertising.

Dear Mark: Although you limit your insightful remarks to the consumer side of the equation, I would suggest that they apply to the employee side as well. As you need "to look after the health of the market", so you need to consider the "health" of your production employees too. Here in America, many people are forced to work minimum wage, full time jobs that pay so little that they are forced to either live out of their car, or work 2 or maybe 3 jobs just to keep a roof over their heads. The rampant exploitation of the workforce here through the use of "temp agencies" which deprives them of all benefits contributes to this degradation of the American worker. Being Greedy is one thing, but being Stupid is something else. You can't squeeze the citizens as consumers and employees until they revolt and then take you down too. Those Fools on Wall Street have been turning the screw on the American People harder and harder for the last 40 years, and it's about to blow up in their faces.

@Mark Johnson. I'd love to think that that would happen. The Americans in revolt at their governments use of their taxes for endless wars for profits instead of using it what schools hospitals investment in the their own future? But I don't see this happening at all In fact they seem to believe that they are one of the greatest countries going who can tell the rest of the world how to live their lives, and they're intent on bringing us all down with them.😯

Dear Ross: Thank You SO Much for Renegade, Inc. I truly appreciate your show because: 1) You assume that the viewer has a Brain. AND 2) You assume that the viewer actually wants to use his Brain while he's viewing your reports. That might seem like I'm setting the bar a bit low, but as an American I've spent my life viewing Hollywood movies and TV shows seemingly intended to "dumb down" the viewer. Ditto for American Mainstream News. Don't bother to think about entering Politics, Ross, because you would certainly fail. Good and Decent and Honest people like you don't have chance in the Snake Pits of Western Politics. God Bless You !!!

I was young in the Seventies and back then, bikes even didn't need locks. Behind the scenes greedy people did their evilness as always but society on itself was progressive and being was important, not having. I think there was less struggle since after the war everybody had work and there was growth. People were trying to be nice after the horror of WW2. It was a kind of hippie period too and people looked down on materialism. I think now that was a rare moment in history and before and after, these soft tendencies disappeared and now the world is merciless again. That's not human nature but the nature of 'our owners', we unknowingly take over. If people had the means to grow their own food and produce their own energy, they wouldn't be like that. That's why electrification will stop and hydrogen will take over since that keeps people controlled and dependent.

Economics has long been presented as a natural science subject to immutable laws rather than a social science. In addition, we humans have long linked success, status and happiness with increased material wealth. Unless we change our thinking, we face a future of increasing wars, deprivation, climate disasters and social upheaval.

inequality leads to concentration of wealth and power, which then enables the "haves" to invest in large scale project accomplished by exploiting the "have nots", which leads to technical progress. thus, it can be argued that if you are against inequality you are against progress and technical development

I disagree that the UK is neoliberal in economics. I would call it a mixture of neoliberalism and protectionism and overregulation the workforce and small business to prop up big business and enslave the entire population. I worked in dentistry in the NHS. It's tailor made regulated to support ownership of certain companies/individuals and keep down small businesses and make them sell. I could talk about it for hours. I think in this regard the UK is the worst place to be a human being. UK= oligarchy
