The demo is finally released. Many people might think of Bloodborne, but actually it much closer to Sekiro, in that parry(perfect guard) is more essential than dodge.
@@kevinvargas2763 perfect block has a small window, if you missed the perfect block it's guaranty a chip damage (it's like charmless), but it's small window but still possible, The game/Demo is good both Souls player and Sekiro player, dodging is short but feels 13 frame dodge, it's 100% must try Demo (note: it's 20GB Demo)
@@RegMeow I really had a hard time getting some perfect parries on mobs. The dodge is often ineffective if you don't roll back. I feel like the mechanics are weird, but it may just be my own experience tho.
@@camillepetit9623 perfect block isn't good against small HP mobs, and but Mini-boss/large HP mobs has a slow windup then a fast swing, mix it with perfect block, it's no longer far, including the bosses. (I die twice because of the chip damage) but it's still demo, they locked off some mechanic, in the end of the Demo I found a Skill Tree, maybe that make it easy to perfect block.
From my experience, the combat took a bit of getting used to, especially with how a Perfect Guard feels different to other parries, but overall I'm very pleased with the flow of gameplay. It takes me back to fighting a difficult boss in a Souls game, and having that tangible feeling like you're improving with every attempt.
I honestly found ER kind of lackluster with blocking. ER doesn't have the perfect block system of Sekiro, and yet blocking has never been worse (due to shields being so weak vs. the Dark Souls games) and parries while possible need several in succession to work on a boss. That just feels like a very clunky adaptation of perfect block, and most of the time parries just aren't worth it compared to just fighting aggressively.
It's to the point that Sekiro could end up it's own branch on the soulslike tree I can already name a few Sekiro-likes off the top of my head, including this one lol
@@ES21007 not sure about the new one, but Jedi fallen order has a kind of sekiro parry system set up. It's not quite the same, but it has the same idea.
the demo is very good, I feel just like the movement is a bit more slippery than from software games, not as accurate, but I think it's the best gameplay on a souls like not from from
you can play however you want, it's possible to perfect dodge, perfect block, and also parry, there is also a skill that increases perfect block window, even simple blocking is viable if you can handle chip damage till the end of the fight.
I found dodging to be very underwhelming. It's too short to get out of the way of the red attacks that you have to parry or avoid completely. If you just dodge you get hit
@@nomercy8989 Same dude! I literally can't beat a big police mob on the streets with dodging for 1 hrs. Beaten it with guard/parrying in only 2 tries. Right now, they somehow need to improve the dodging system & add more windows for parrying.
@@priyanshumaurya007 I’m actually the opposite, parrying was more difficult but the dodging is pretty good, but I do agree it needs more windows for rolling
This game seems nice. Obviously I have some criticism for it but it still seems like a nice thing to have in your library if you're a souls fan. Also, man, it hasn't even been a day since the demo came out and you already got the perfect guard timing right for these bosses. Congrats.
Wait there's a demo for Lies of P? I didn't even hear about this but that's cool I'll definitely try it out since I'm planning to get this game anyway but they just released the demo and this guy is already going hard into the bosses. Also you said this game is more like Sekiro than Bloodborne? That's interesting I mean I love Sekiro and Bloodborne so even having those two mixed would be great.
holy shit parrying in this game is so much more difficult than in sekiro I don't think I'm even going to get the game because I literally can't beat the parade master
it’s the animations that trip me up, they’re wild like beast type bosses in sekiro which I was never good at a lot of them in the second phase bait me into blocking early and getting hit cause I’m bad but the first phase ez to hitless
Had my doubts about how the controls feels compared to Dark Souls and Elden Ring, but at the end of the last boss fight, the Watchman, I felt so satisfied and my expectations grew again. Amazing use of gameplay as always.
Having played this demo and beaten it a few times with different weapon styles, the one thing I didn't like was the fact that this game incentivizes and rewards blocking and perfect parrying over dodging and rolling. Not my preferred way of playing but it is what it is.
I enjoy both but I prefer parry based combat, especially on these focused single player experiences it's more polished and balanced. I think everyone that enjoyed Sekiro will appreciate this game not being another cookie cutter soulslike.
@@eddtru but the bosses aren’t like sekiro, they don’t have the same flow and aren’t telegraphed in a good way. The timing of deflect is also too tight, most ppl will just use dodge to beat the boss.
@@ni9274 If you haven't tried I'd play locked at 60fps. I was stuck on the first boss playing at 165fps, the parry/dodge timings were bad, the camera also rotated too fast. I locked the framerate to 60 and it made everything a lot better, already beat the demo. Overall I think is a great game, not Sekiro but it's own thing with it's own rules. Edit: I did a full parry run, the game even incentivizes parry by not allowing you to dodge unblockable attacks unharmed.
@@ni9274 Dodging is also very underwhelming & u will take dmg even if you dodge correctly sometimes. Parry/Guard is actually more consistent way of dealing dmg than dodging since you can't dodge roll like ER/DS.
This game looks A WAY than I expected I think second boss was very similar to Darkbeast boss from BB btw, two clean fights and a nice video So excited for your more videos of lies of p
The only thing that’s similar to Bloodborne about this is the old London aesthetic, but the combat feels more like Sekiro because you need to parry. It’s nowhere near as satisfying as Bloodborne. I didn’t really like the demo because it’s trying too hard to be like FromSoftware games. They copied everything and the creator of the game pretends the game wasn’t inspired by Souls, as if he created their genre when he literally ripped it off.
Oh I didn't notice this during my playthrough, the Puppet Master smashes his cage to the ground and then traps his leg in it on purpose, so that he has enough opposing force to rip his own head off and use it as a club.
I wouldn't get your hopes up too high, it's more like dark souls 1 in pacing but with a perfect block, not much like sekiro besides that, and the block is very strict
@Dusto von Susto checked after seeing this video and no demo on PC, and I don't think it's even coming out on PC, so I wouldn't be able to play it even if I wanted to.
Took me about 4 hours to get pass this boss lol learned that perfect parrying and blocking in general are extremely important. I’m so used to rolling and evading. Def a change up for me from playing other soulslike games
I tried it today, I'm basically stuck at the parade master, I try to roll the attacks but the distance is always short, at the same time it seems like there are very few s and I get stuck in the enemy model as well lol I'm treating this game too much as another souls game, I need to use different mechanics
Looks sweet! I like the art direction a lot. I think my nitpicks for the design choices would be the target lock on X is kinda distracting, and the whole enemy glowing red when they go for a heavy attack is annoying. I like when they do a more subtle cue
Pretty fun game. Very polished. Great animations. Couple complaints: you cannot cancel attacks into parries like in Sekiro, making the whole game feel weird and slow. I also found my character rolling/dashing into geo often. Died quite a few times getting stuck on pebbles, street cracks or parts of the boss that weren't obvious.
Am I the only one that felt a biiiiiit underwhelmed by the boss's moveset? I get it's a demo and so these are just the first bosses. But considering this game takes inspiration from Bloodborne and Sekiro, I feel Father Gascoigne and Gyoubu is 1000000x more fleshed out. Shouldn't it be easier to make a boss when you're using other games as inspiration?
They seem pretty fleshed-out to me. The Watchman can mix up its combos like Sekiro bosses do, and so can the minibosses like the police puppets. The timing on the perfect block is also less forgiving as well as riskier than Bloodborne parry or Sekiro deflect.
This may seem like an odd question, but how much do you enjoy these games at your skill level? I am just curious if being this consistently godlike good at the games still feels fun, or if it becomes a bit monotonous like playing a perfect game of bowling or something all the time
The video is showing his godlike skills but of course he died multiple time to get the timing right (and this is the fun part ) , specially this guy, he must be a fast learner to timing due to his amazing skills in souls like game
it makes enemies vulnerable to riposte after parrying them enough times, i feel like it would feel just a bit better if we could see a bar representing their stance like in sekiro
So, combat of Sekiro with the stamina system of DS, as well as a freaky gothic tone of Bloodborne and a lovely polish ala the Demon's Souls remake. Quite the love child mix.
i played the demo i dont know if im the only one who experiencing when i dodge or parry i feel i got some input delay even though i press the dodge or the parry
Lol, you release this a minute after I search for a video of you playing it. They really need to add attack canceling and make dodging a bit more viable. There are these weird pauses during the fights that the other soulsborne games don't have.
This video is the only gameplay ive seen so far but it reminds me more of the Surge 2 more than sekiro or bloodborne. The latter two had a strong emphasis on movement during boss fights, while Surge 2 had you standing in place while you parry giant robots
lol, parring is one of the best mechanics in a video game since it rewards the skill and the memory of the player to know when and which attack to parry .
Idk man you can tell the composer ripped off Bloodborne’s music, let alone Darkbeast Paarl as the boss the visceral and sekiro parry. You can’t try to emulate fromsoftware music you gotta have Walter’s 99% meth atleast to make ludwigs theme or demon of hatred.
The game looks great! But @_ONGBAL PLEASE CALM DOWN, the demo is not even out for a full day and you have started doing no hit on bosses ... What a god gamer.
i dont know if i get the timing wrong or maybe some wacky hit box but sometimes i just cant perfect guard. either way still fun, specially since i was able to get a machete XD hahahahahaha and some wacky clothes.
