Poki moving on has reminded me of a fear that I’ve developed as I’ve gotten older: Transience. There’s something about change, in whatever form, that fills me with so much sadness. It feels like mourning something that I have no control over and that I should have noticed earlier. Poki has become such a big part of OTV that it does seem as though an artery in this proverbial heart that is OTV has burst and you start to feel hopeless. I’m happy that she is graduating and moving on to other greener pastures, but there’s still a part of me that still perceives her as family, and wants her to stay for as long as possible, but at the same time, I’m aware that I’m simply grasping onto something that deserves to have better opportunities and to see what the world has to offer. This irrational fear of transience I think represents a big empathetic side to me, but I also see it as a projection of my insecurities. I’m sure that whatever she chooses to do, she will always be a part of heart of OTV and will always be remembered.
