It is great to see/hear someone talk in real world terms about stroke recovery. Thanks for doing so

I like your videos, but I do have to said that it would be good to have compassion for old people. Yes, they have lived their lives, but we don't know what they are going through. I think it's even harder for them, they are more fragile, their bones hurt, they have to move slower, and if they fall or something it's way worse than for us (young) so I can't even imagine how it is for them to deal with a stroke. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, you should not be angry with old people if they complain about their health. Only when we get that old we will understand. And I'm not writing this to have an argue with you or anyone. We are survivors and each of us (young, old, whatever) are doing our best to recover. Thanks for your videos by the way :)

I had a stroke 3 weeks ago. I'm 33 years old. I'm also a nurse. My mood has been liable for sure. I struggle with sadness. Daily.
@4kitties
@4kitties 8 лет назад
+nicibdanza My advice, Don't hold onto sadness let it do its job and pass through for the time being. Your emotions have been turned up. You don't have control of that for now. Just like before my stroke I cry more out of joy than sadness. I am a year out since my stroke, or what I like to call"my paradigm shift."

Thank you for your perspective and the mental things that we go thru- I don't think people really understand unless you've had stroke. I had the same thing happen with filling out forms (at rehab nevertheless!)- I have the anger issues too, not at having a stroke but at doctors and rehab people. You have the right attitude- just pick it up from here and move on--positive yet realistic. I guess what I am ytring to say is that is wonderful hearing someone else has been there! Love and Light

Hey Brian. I have the world of respect for you. I have watched many of your videos & learned a ton from them. I was hugely impressed with the one on how you changed your equipment to still be able to set up alone after your stroke. I totally get your motivation for hanging in there, in fact, I had exactly the same motivation a few years back when I was in hospital fighting for my life (not from a stroke). It's not about us, it's about our families... ;-) Your videos are great, keep it up please.

Hey Brian Thanks for all the videos you are a true inspiration. I have been djing for over 15 years and I am always ready to learn more and let my performance grow. I had a suggestion which I think only you will be the person to discuss this topic. I wanted to see if you could do a video on music playlist. What I mean is I watch your gig vids and sometimes I'll hear you play a song and I think to myself I completely forgot about that song. Well i feel thst through the years I have fprgotten

Thanks for that, & I do love visiting the Netherlands, short steps & all :P We are not always going to agree, and that's cool! It's all about perspective. Actually I say a lot of things that I rethink & change my mind on. I will continue to reserve that right because that's the only way we are all going to grow :)

On behalf of the Dutch I offer my sincerest apologies for our crappy stairs. On a more serious note: You might know that dj-wise I don't share all your opinions (like I mentioned in your previous vlog ;) but I think I speak for a lot of colleague-djs when I say that the way you are dealing with your situation is definately inspiring. Besides that, I love the fact that you always seem to speak from the heart: you mean what you say, almost always with the intention to help and tutor others.

Telling the truth. I was 11 when I had my stroke, and now I am a 31 well rounded woman. It effected me just like you, it is my whole right side. I have 2 little girls and a hubby. I still do everything, maybe not the same but it gets done. Thank you for telling your story

I was actually referring to my thoughts while in therapy. What these videos are about is perspective, my perspective that I'm sharing with people who have had similar experiences. These videos are candid, very candid & I'm sure you will disagree with a lot of things I say.

I normally don't make any negative comments to your posts but I found the remarks you made about the older gents callous & uncaring. You admitted you were angry with the staff & you hated physiotherapy. Where does anger come from? FEAR(& other emotions) Look at the generation these men came from, take the emotions u had (inc probs with speech & movement). Imagine how much harder it is to recover with 40 years added to your age? Much respect as always & keep the fight going man. PEACE!

@briansredd
@briansredd 11 лет назад
Again, this is all about perspective. The way therapy seemed to work was if you made an improvement, they took the credit. If you didn't improve, you weren't working hard enough. Most of it was bullshit. It's really one of those things where you would have to be in that position to understand where people like myself are coming from.

I have not had a stroke myself, but did have a life changing accident 6 years ago which left me with disabilities. I am about to start a new job at my local hospital motivating people young and old who have had a stroke.. I would be very grateful if you could give me any information and advice.. For example what worked for you.. What are the things you hated and what were the things you liked. What helped you get through...All the very best. And keep up the great work you are doing.. Gerry

Just remember one day You will be old, see how you feel if somebody talks about you the way You are talking about older people right now. You need to work on compassion for others, no matter their age. We have feelings too!! I was going to subscribe, but now I’m not
@ic93305

Really hate your perspective about older people. If they are still breathing, their life is not over. They are not done, even if they wanted to be done, they can't be: they are stuck ..."TRAPPED"...in a body that is no longer as able as used to be - even if they still have the energy and desire to be independant. You don't know their pain and their struggles; you only know yours. Given all that you've had to overcome...I'm surprised at your assumptions and dismissal of older folks who have had a stroke and/or any other medical challenges. I take care of someone in her 70s who had a stroke in 2020 - she's come a long way but not as far as she would like. She wants to walk again, she wants to drive and cook, etc. She gives her all and tries her best, but she still can't and maybe she never will - we don't know, but her life is NOT OVER! She's not done living it - even if she does have some miserable days, she also has good ones.
