This is a recording from our formal event on the 24th of April, 2021. This is part of our formal event series happening in the end of every month!!!!
Our event was brilliantly organized by our two Zambian and Namibian Leads, Anthony Simbeya and Violet Kaviyo Nghipandua. We learned so many valuable lessons about from our 2 incredible speakers Dr Phiri Christabel and Dr. Melka Nekongo.
Dr. Phiri Christabel is a Junior resident medical officer at the Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching hospital in the capital city of Zambia, Lusaka. She is currently in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology which is her third of four clerkships. Dr. Phiri graduated school year 2019 from the University Of Zambia, School of Medicine at the Rigdeway campus. She holds a Bachelors Of science degree in human Biology and a Bachelors Of general medicine and surgery from the named university. She’s an Alumni Of Young Emerging Scientists(YES) Zambia, Heads Research at the InciSioN working group Zambia and has proficiency in Data Analysis from Trials Of Excellency in Southern Africa(TESA) among other interests like Public Health and Gyn-Oncology.
Dr. Melka Nekongo is a second year medical intern, currently completing her psychiatry rotation at the Windhoek Central hospital, in Windhoek, Namibia. She graduated from the University of Namibia School of Medicine in April 2019.
Our medical doctors from Zambia and Namibia shared their unique experiences as interns in their respective hospitals.
The Phoenix MedEd project provides a unique opportunity for international fellowship and collaboration across continents whilst promoting global health education. Our group connects individuals through lectures and small group discussions by hosting a variety of social and educational events!
Whilst this is a new addition to the Phoenix family, the friendships formed will continue to strengthen the Phoenix network as students progress through their careers!!!
